Speech Given by the Vice Interior Minister of Taiwan, Mr. Hsu Ying-Shen, at the 2002 Taiwan Falun Dafa Conference

Greetings Chairman Chang of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association, ladies and gentlemen.

I was very moved when I entered the stadium and saw so many practitioners here who are cultivating their hearts. Falun Dafa can enable people who follow the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance" to have righteous thoughts and righteous actions, and to cultivate both their mind and body. Therefore, I would like to send my highest respect to Chairman Chang, and all the friends here. At the same time, Interior Minister, Mr. Yu, asked me to say hello to everybody. Thank you all.

According to relevant statistics, after taking up the practice of Falun Dafa, many of you are able to give up gambling, drinking, smoking, and chewing betel nuts (an addictive and unhealthy habit common in Asia). The success rate is over 80%, which really touches me. Moreover, cultivation of both body and mind can make people healthier. As far as I know, many friends here had to use health care services on an average of 12 times per year before they started to practice Falun Dafa. However, after they began the cultivation, they only need to use health care services on an average of 6 times per year. The utilization rate of health care services is reduced by 50%. You have saved a lot of medical expenses not only for yourself, but also for the entire society. So I would like to say our sincere thanks to everybody on behalf of relevant government departments.

Taiwan is a place where people can hold religious activities freely. The foundation of Taiwan is democracy, freedom, equality, and humanity. This is why Falun Dafa is flourishing in Taiwan. I was just talking with chairman Chang and he told me that in Taiwan there are over 100,000 people who practice Falun Dafa; and in the world, there are over 100 million people who are enjoying the happiness brought by "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance." In my mind, the wide spread of Falun Dafa in Taiwan is one of the achievements of democracy in Taiwan.

Once again, I would like to thank chairman Chang, and all other friends here. I hope that everybody can share your experience of cultivating Falun Dafa with your friends. Let Taiwan advance towards great prosperity!
