The Ugliness of Brainwashing

1. Picture this: A young researcher at a medical school in China was kidnapped by police under the dictator's regime and sent to a forced labor camp to be "re-educated" [subjected to forced brainwashing] simply because he upheld his belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." The tremendous pressure from this kind of persecution caused him to suffer a nervous breakdown.

2. His wife, a music teacher with a loving heart, is also a believer in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance." She too was kidnapped into a "transformation class," a name that disguises a brainwashing class. Unbelievably, after being brainwashed, she wrote to the labor camp where her husband was illegally detained and requested that her husband be brutally tortured, so he would betray his faith in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance."

This former music institute pupil, who used to firmly uphold her faith, also helped the police to arrest her father after she had been brainwashed.

3. A female Chinese doctor from the U.S. courageously went to China and revealed to the foreign media the facts about the tortures against Falun Gong practitioners in mental institutions by the dictatorial regime in China. After she was forced to undergo brainwashing, she commented to journalists that she cherished every day she spent in Chinese jail.

These catastrophes have taken place in brainwashing sessions all over China. In Western countries, there were instances in hostage situations where the people kidnapped by robbers defended the perpetrators and even engaged themselves to them. This phenomenon, researched by western psychologists, now also appears in the brainwashing centers in China.

Authorities from the "610 Office" are behind these illegal brainwashing centers. This "610 Office is an agency that specializes in the persecution of Falun Gong, was even created to persecute Falun Gong under orders from the Chinese dictator, and has absolute powers over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems. While illegally detained in these classes, kidnapped Falun Gong practitioners are often deprived of sleep and are forced to repeatedly watch videos and read books that slander Falun Gong. The practitioners are also barraged with distorted and misleading information about Falun Gong. They have to face threats, coercion, enticements, lies and brutal tortures during these brainwashing sessions.

The lies used in the brainwashing "classes" lack basic logic, and its distortions of Falun Gong books are extremely absurd, but why have these irrational lies accomplished brainwashing certain people? This is exactly the evil nature of the brainwashing class.

A 50-second TV commercial would have a deep impact on the audience. In the cruel and horrific atmosphere of the brainwashing class, it's indeed possible for a person to lose his or her logical judgment. The extent of evilness of these brainwashing classes is hard to understand for those of us who are not subjected to them ourselves. People who are brainwashed, and those who later became the evil's accomplices after being brainwashed, are all victims of this inhumane system.

Looking from another perspective, the ridiculous logic, hypocritical lies and the distortion of Falun Gong books that permeate the brainwashing class would look extremely ridiculous to people outside of a brainwashing center. For those weak-willed people, under the brutal persecution of the brainwashing, this can be a means and an excuse with which they can escape from torture. After some people have gone along with the lies and given in to the evil, they further deceived and numbed themselves with these lies and even deceived others with these lies, in order to prove themselves "correct." The evil actually controls them. They have in reality lost their true-selves.

The majority of those who signed so-called "Reform Statements," "Repentance Statements" [A statement to acknowledge remorse for practicing Falun Gong, to give up Falun Gong, and to never again associate with those practitioners who practice Falun Gong and/or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong] and "Break-away Statements" [these three statements are documents coerced under extreme pressure, torture and brainwashing, designed by the Chinese authority to ensure that detained Falun Gong practitioners be appropriately brain-washed. The statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who practices Falun Gong. The "610 Office" concocted this system] did so against their true will under this cruel persecution. They do not believe the ridiculous lies made by the brainwashing classes at all. After being released, most of them announce the invalidity of their statements on Minghui Net, which is a powerful irony to the brainwashing classes.

There are some, though, who can't pull themselves out of the lies. Their minds suffered greater injuries and poison. Their hearts were distorted and they were deprived of the rationality of normal people. We should compassionately help them to find themselves, with calmness and patience. They are similar to our beloved practitioners who were physically disabled from brutal beatings. The only difference is that their hearts had become hurt instead of their bodies.

The dictatorial regime would not show physically disabled victims on TV, yet they unrestrainedly show off those who were brainwashed. Why do they do it? Don't they know that the Constitution of the People's Republic of China and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights protect citizens' freedom of belief? Don't they know the "reformed" people are mentally disabled from brutal, psychological torture?

The dictator's ugly conduct only shows the world how shameless and base the dictatorship is.
