Dafa practitioner Mr. Ma Baogui from Mazai Village, Gaocun Township was arrested at 5:00 p.m. on January 2. At 7:00 p.m., Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Yongsen from Muzai Village was also arrested and sent to the Sanlizhuang Detention Center. At 3:00 p.m. on the same day, four other Dafa practitioners, including Ms. Li Qiaozhi, Mr. Zhang Congmin, Mr. Wang Haiping and Ms. Hao Aimin were taken away from their own clothing store in Yingyang City to the Political and Security Section of Yingyang City's Police Department, because policemen suspected them of making truth-clarifying materials. Dafa practitioner Wang Haiping has since escaped with righteous thoughts, and the other three were sent to the Sanlizhuang Detention Center.

In October 1999 (Chinese Lunar Calendar), Dafa practitioner Mr. Meng Quanyu went to Beijing to appeal. Afterwards he was unlawfully detained and was later transferred to Yingyang City's Sanlizhuang Detention Center where he suffered excruciating abuse and brutal torture. On October 16, persons from the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] put his wife into detention for several months and fined them 4,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income in urban areas of China; in rural areas it is 200 Yuan].

Before July 22, 2000, Mr. Meng Quanyu again went to Beijing to appeal, and was unlawfully detained. When he distributed truth-clarifying materials in November of 2000, policemen from Gaocun Township's Police Precinct sent him into a detention center. Because he refused to betray fellow practitioners by giving their names, he was brutally tortured. Meng Quanyu suffered a lot both mentally and physically. He often went on hunger strikes to resist the inhuman torture. After over two years of illegal imprisonment, Meng Quanyu has still not been released.

Ms. Xu Yanxiang was an accountant for Shenzhou City's Cotton & Flax Company. She is a nice person and has a good reputation. In December 1999 she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested by the end of 1999. She was later sentenced to one and half years of forced labor in Shijiazhuang City's Forced Labor Camp. In April or May 2002, she was again arrested and sentenced to three years of forced labor. She was first held at Shenzhou City's Detention Center and later in August or September, she was transferred to Shijiazhuang City's Forced Labor Camp. She is now held in the Division No. 4 of the forced labor camp.

By the end of October 2002, police in Changsha City arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Luo Yabing. Up until now, Luo is still being held at Changsha City's Detention Center. Luo used to work in Shenzhen City. He was arrested when visiting his family.

After 9:00 p.m. on October 30, 2002, the police station in Jinzhou City's Ferro-Alloy Factory abducted practitioner Ms. Zheng Yanmei from her home and took her to the police station. Later, they sent her to Jinzhou City's No.1 Detention Center. Recently, Ms. Zheng was secretly sentenced to two years of imprisonment.

On January 1, 2003, vicious police officers arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Zhigang from Qitun District, Huludao City while he was distributing truth-clarifying materials. They even ransacked his house.

On January 10, 2003, police took Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Jing from the Xingcheng District away from her home.
