Police Assault and Torture Dafa Practitioners in Changsha Female Prison, Hunan Province
By Dafa practitioners from Changsha Female Prison
(Clearwisdom.net) On June 25th, 2002, there was a meeting held with
about 2000 attendees at Changsha female prison, Hunan Province. The agenda
included fabricated reports to defame Falun Dafa and practitioners. The
speeches also tried to cover up the facts of the persecution going on in the
prison for the last three plus years and to deceive those non-practitioners
who had a sense of justice. When Dafa practitioners protested the speech
delivered by jail director Zhao Lan, the police forcefully dragged them out of
the auditorium. A tall male policeman, while dragging Dafa practitioners away,
brutally beat female practitioner Yan Hong. They locked her up in a smelly,
hot and mosquito infested solitary cell. It is said that Yan Hong is still
locked in the solitary cell.
Dafa practitioners in the solitary cells went on a hunger strike to protest
the persecution. There was a 60 year old female practitioner named Zhang Yawei
who was too weak to get up from her bed during the hunger strike. Her body was
covered with mosquito bites. After 9 days, she was emaciated and looked like a
different person. She also had a fever for the duration of the hunger strike.
The guards completely ignored her situation. Other practitioners heard her
crying and groaning in pain, when she was suffering from the fever, and were
very saddened. They beat on the door of the solitary cell so that they could
help her. They asked the male criminals for water and put her hands and feet
in it to bring down the fever. They covered her abdomen and chest with a damp
towel. The elderly woman had lost consciousness but was starting to recover.
After two months the mosquito bites had not all healed. While Dafa
practitioners are being dragged around, beaten, and locked in the solitary
cells in handcuffs, the Changsha female jail is ridiculously claiming to be a
"civilized jail" with a "humanitarian administration."
The jail gave severe punishment to those inmates who made contact with Dafa
practitioners. Yan Youqun (female) from Changfeng No.4 team, helped Dafa
practitioners pass on a note. Li listened to rumors spread by other inmates
and punished Yan by making her kneel for nearly 8 hours, all the while beating
and kicking her. He also cruelly tortured Yan Youqun by way of "carrying a
sword on the back" [One's hands are tied behind her back with one hand over
the shoulder and the other hand against the lower back. The police then apply
a great deal of force to pull the two hands toward one another and handcuff
the two hands together.] Yan also lost 20 points toward her release. This
punishment caused quite a stir among the inmates. The behavior of the
policemen not only incited conflicts between Dafa practitioners and inmates,
but also made all aspects of prison life difficult for Dafa practitioners. The
policemen tried to incite the hatred of the inmates against the Dafa
practitioners, attempting to isolate and pressure the practitioners in this
way. However, this has only made more people realize how much the prison
authorities are deceiving the public and not following the rule of law.
On June 28, Dafa practitioner Miao Cui, female, about 50 years old, opposed
the persecution by taking off her jail uniform. On the night of the 29th, when
she was walking through the 3rd gate, team leader Li Jun called over two male
policemen, and in front of 6 or 7 policemen and two inmates, punched Ms. Miao
in the face, kicked her very hard, and said, "I will beat you to death. Go
ahead and sue us!" The other policemen watched with indifference. After that,
they threw Miao Cui into the solitary cell. She was in great pain and could
not sleep that night. After a few days, she still had severe headaches, and
didn't eat or drink for one day and two nights. Fifteen days later, five
people dragged her to work, cutting and scraping her on the way. When they
were going through the 3rd gate, the policemen ordered 5 inmates to drag,
push, step on and kick her in order to make her kneel down. There was one
policeman holding an electric baton at the ready to shock her. In a few days,
she ended up covered with cuts and bruises. And still Li Jun adopted more
cruel tortures on her. In so much pain, Miao Cui couldn't stop sweating, and
she was tortured to the brink of death. Miao Cui was tortured for nearly 20
days, an example of how the Changsha female prison inhumanely and viciously
persecutes Dafa practitioners.
Changsha female jail utilized handcuffs, electric batons, and forms of
torture like "carry a sword on the back", handcuffing from behind and hanging
up, or hanging up while tiptoes touched the ground to try to break the
practitioners' will. An inmate said, "I have been in this jail for almost 10
years, and this was my first time ever witnessing such miserable things. This
is just horrible." On November 12th, a policeman used an electric baton on
Miao Cui, all the while saying, "Feel free to sue me. It wasn't me who hurt
you, it was the electricity!" Time and time again the guards' words and
actions have shown how much they want to make the practitioners suffer in
retaliation for exposing their brutality to the outside world. These incidents
also show that the prison supervisors conspired with policemen and criminals
to beat Dafa practitioners; even the supervisors themselves beat
practitioners.
The way many policemen in the Changsha female prison persecuted righteous
Dafa practitioners so viciously has shocked everyone who has heard the news.
The policemen in Changsha female jail assault the Dafa practitioners and
violate their human rights at will. They act as if nothing is wrong while
torturing and persecuting Dafa practitioners. They do these terrible things at
will and without remorse, which cannot be tolerated by Heaven's laws. "Good
will be rewarded with good, evil will be met with evil retribution." We hope
that people with a sense of justice from all walks of life will come to learn
the truth of the persecution, and give us their help and support! |
