A Family is Broken Apart: Grandfather and Grandson Live Day-by-Day in Hardship
January 9, 2003 (Clearwisdom.net) On June 1, 2002, I went to a fellow practitioner's
home. I asked him how his family was doing, and he said, "Since my son was
sentenced to imprisonment because of practicing Falun Gong, I have not received
any information about his situation. My daughter-in-law has been forced to leave
home and is roaming about, so my granddaughter went to her maternal grandma's
home. Her maternal grandpa was also sentenced to imprisonment because of
practicing Falun Gong, and now he is detained in Qingdao City. Her grandma is
still determined. Later, I heard that my son was 'transformed', and I got very
angry and really lost my temper. The next morning, my foot ached when I did the
Falun Gong exercises. I failed to maintain my xinxing (heart or mind nature)
and failed Master Li's expectation of me as a practitioner. Right now my little
grandson and I are depending on each other and living from day to day." I looked at this poor family, and a feeling that was hard to describe arose
in my mind. I asked, "How do you live?" "We barely manage,"
he answered. I heard that since his son and daughter-in-law were kidnapped in
1999, they had no source of income. Even the grain supplied by the village was
also taken away. I took 145 Yuan out of my pocket to give him. He wanted to
refuse my gift, but when he saw tears in my eyes, he could say nothing. I told
him that since it was the children's holiday (June 1 holiday in China), and the
gift was for his grandson.
