Arresting Innocent People Without Any Evidence and Sentencing People at Will

Some practitioners have been illegally sentenced to forced labor because they went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa, or merely because they practiced the Falun Dafa exercises at home. Lu Yuguo and Ming Licheng, who had been previously detained illegally in subdivisions 4 and 2 of the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp, were sentenced to one-year of forced labor. Dong Wenqiang was sentenced to two years of forced labor after police found Dafa articles while searching him. Cui Zhiwei, a wicked policeman from the Xinglongshan Police Station (he recently transferred to the Daguang Detention Center) along with a Section Chief from Kuancheng District Police Department, who was in his 30's and wore glasses, along with another person, unlawfully broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ma Xiaodong's home (he was once detained in the 6th Division). The police found Ma Xiaodong reading a Dafa book at that moment and took him to the police station. Later they illegally searched his home and found one Dafa book, three portraits of Master Li, and one appeal letter. For this, Ma Xiaodong was once again sentenced to forced labor. The wicked policemen arrest innocent people arbitrarily to meet their quota. Dafa practitioner Cui Zhiwei was sentenced to forced labor by this means. Currently, there are nearly 200 innocent Dafa practitioners from the Chaoyanggou area being illegally subjected to forced labor.

Beating and Torturing People, Disregarding Their Lives

In Changchun City Balipbao Detention Center (which has now been shut down) and Daguang Detention Center, Falun Gong practitioners were forced to sit still on small stools all day. The wicked policemen on duty would strike or kick them whenever they did not sit straight. Moreover, in 2000 at the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp, all newcomers suffered from a vicious beating. They use a mop handle, pickaxe handle, chair, fist and foot to beat Dafa practitioners. They kick at the center of the one's chest causing partial lung collapse, which is extremely painful. They call this method the "suffocating heart kick." The police also grab a person's head and repeatedly slam it against a wall, calling it "going through the wall." There were many other torture methods, too many to list.

In the past, in order to force Dafa practitioners to give up their belief, the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp used a torture called "flying an airplane" [Torture method where the practitioner is forced to stand with one's back against the wall, with one's head dropped forward, and both hands pulled up from behind.] in the bathroom, night after night. Some practitioners suffered from this torture consecutively for more than 10 days, which seriously damaged their bodies.

Falun Gong practitioner Han Yuzhu lost her life from a failed rescue in the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp after going on hunger strike for more than 15 days. Former guards Zhao of the 2nd division and Wang Tao of the 1st division of the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp have beaten many Falun Gong practitioners, including Chang Shuai, Wang Enguo, Wang Xiantao, Li Zhiguo, Liu Changpeng and Ma Xiaodong, and other inmates many times. They were especially cruel to Chang Shuai. The thugs ordered him to remove his clothes and then they shocked him with electric batons in two torture sessions, each of which lasted over half an hour, until the charge ran out. Xu Fumin, a former inmate in the 6th division of the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp (now in the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp), used a piece of bed board to beat Falun Gong practitioner Liu Hongyan, and did not allow him to sleep for three days.

Dafa practitioner Chang Shuai was beaten in a detention center in Beijing because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. The scars from electrical baton burns still exist on his neck. Dafa practitioner Xie Zhijun, who was formerly kept in the 6th division, suffered hearing loss in one ear after being beat by vicious policemen in Yutian County, Hebei Province, because he went to Beijing to appeal. Niu Chao, who was formerly kept in 6th division of the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp, was transferred to the 2nd division because he held a hunger strike. He was tortured so badly that he had to rely on other people's support in order to walk.

According to a reliable source, Falun Gong practitioners from areas of Songyuan, Tonghua, and Liaoyuan have all been transferred to the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp. When they entered the labor camp, if anyone was found with Dafa articles, the guards and other inmates would beat him or her with fists and kicks. The magnitude of the cruelty was shocking.

According to another reliable source, the Fenjin Forced Labor Camp uses inmates to beat Falun Gong practitioners. A practitioner was seriously wounded by the inmates. His spleen was ruptured and was taken out by surgery. He almost lost his life. Two practitioners were being force-fed because they protested with hunger strikes. They died of bleeding from the mouth and nose. In the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp of Changchun City, 18 different torture methods have been used to force Falun Gong practitioners to write the "three statements" [Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.] within three days to give up their practice. Some practitioners were driven into mental instability. Such treatments represent the so-called "spring breeze melt the rain" and "touching persuasion" showed on TV on how the labor camp staff "nicely" treats Falun Gong practitioners.

Extortion by Violent Cell Heads

The guards in the labor camp even extort the monthly living expenses of 5 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China.] which is normally paid to the inmates. The Chaoyanggou and Weizigou Labor Camp did not distribute to the inmates their monthly living expenses for a long time. After top officials checked this matter, they had to distribute a few months' living expenses to cover their illegal behavior. Later, the living expenses again disappeared. In the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp, the cost of the name labels, bed cards and photos should be paid from the money that the government allocated. However, the inmates and practitioners had to bear the cost. Moreover, all the goods being sold inside the labor camp were extremely expensive.

Cell heads' use of violence is common and very serious in every division. Whoever can fight has a chance to take more money from other inmates. Whoever behaves the worst becomes a watch person or cell head. Falun Gong practitioners, who do not violate any rules, have their sentence terms extended without any reason. Moreover, the watch persons or cell heads have extorted from 50 Yuan to 70 Yuan from others using the excuse of needing bed sheets, chairs, meal utensils, detergent, haircut tools, or letter paper. Some detainees did not get any of their daily necessities and food that came from their visiting family members. All of these items were taken away by the cell heads or watch persons. When there were officials coming to inspect the cells, nobody dared to report this, fearing retaliation from the guards and other inmates when the officials left.

Above are the facts of forced labor camps in the so-called "best period of human rights" under Jiang's regime.
