Last October, Jiang Zemin went to the United States for his "Graduation Tour" but was confronted with a large protest when he arrived at Chicago on October 22, 2002. That day, he was sued by Falun Gong practitioners and their families for genocide, in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division. That same day, the attorney for the plaintiffs went to Jiang's hotel in person and gave the letter to a Chinese security guard to be delivered to Jiang.

On January 13, 2003, the lawyer of the plaintiff side and the judge had their first meeting to discuss their next step. Since the plaintiff's lawyer needed time to prepare material the judge approved that the next meeting be held on March 13, 2003.

So it has come to pass that Jiang, the chairman of a "magnificent country," the former General Secretary of a "magnificent party," and the chairman of a "magnificent army" has been turned into a defendant. This is not just the shame of his life, it is also his nightmare that he cannot get rid of in his old age.

Jiang knows that in recent years: the former president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic was tried in an international court, and the head of Khmer Rouge will also be sent to international court - they both committed the crime of "genocide." Former Chilean army dictator Augusto Pinochet also bloodily suppressed his opposition. Even though he made contributions later to the economic development, he had to resign and was arrested for a period of time in Britain. He too, is now facing fear and uncertainty for the rest of his life.

Jiang Zemin went against the advice of many top-level officials in the Chinese Communist Party and bloodily suppressed Falun Gong. He employed extreme physical and mental means of torture (there is solid evidence) that caused the death of over 500 people. Also, tens of thousands of people were thrown into jails, labor camps and labor facilities. It is yet another large scale bloody suppression and massacre since June 4th (Note: refers to the student movement in 1989). Not just in the future will he be responsible for that, he is now being held responsible for it.

Jiang at the Sixteenth Party Congress went against the world's will and held on to military power and refused to step down. He worries that once he steps down he would have to face trials. It has been said that Jiang is afraid of three things: first he is afraid of Falun Gong, second he is afraid of Zhao Ziyang (former General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party who was forced to resign and put under house arrest for his support of the June 4th Student Movement) and third he is afraid of Hu Jintao. Falun Gong's debt of blood was single handedly caused by Jiang; the long term house arrest of Zhao Ziyang indicates that Jiang was deeply involved with the June 4th massacre, otherwise he would not be so afraid of Zhao Ziyang's return [to power]; the bad deeds that he did against Hu Jintao will also be repaid sooner or later, and that is something he is most afraid of.

As long as Jiang remains in power, the American government will keep the genocide lawsuit against him in low profile, to avoid political turmoil. However, once Jiang steps down and becomes a regular citizen, the situation will be different. This is why Jiang shamelessly keeps himself in power. The net woven by heaven's law is loose but will not leave out anything; even if Jiang "kills himself in front of the Chinese citizens," he will not be able to escape the trial of history.
