In December 2002, police arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Peng Weisheng, the father of practitioner Peng Min. He was arrested when he took part in a small scale Falun Dafa experience sharing conference in Xinjiang Autonomous Region. His whereabouts are not known at present.

Li Chunyuan is a 40-year old faculty member at the Central Nationality University, in the Department of Philosophy and Religion. He was forced to serve a term in a forced labor camp; at the end of his illegal incarceration in June 2002, the forced labor camp officials extended his prison term for another ten months because he refused to compromise in his belief. Li did not accept the persecution that he and other practitioners had to endure and hence wrote an official grievance letter against Jiang, accusing him of violating the Chinese constitution. He also wrote a formal grievance letter against the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp for the brutal physical and mental persecution he endured. In retaliation Li was sent to a brainwashing center and was deprived of his constitutional right to submit a formal grievance. Normally, according to the regulations, a person is held there only for about one to two months. He has been detained there for half a year. Li Chunyuan is a very kind and peaceful man; many people who have had contact with him have been deeply moved by his words and actions. Several of the policemen have even praised him for his righteousness and benevolence and have not wanted to harm him.

Wang Enli, a 70-year old retired senior intellectual was forced to compromise his belief in Falun Dafa under intense pressure at the Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp Team Three. On November 19, 2002, after Wang Enli argued with a police officer about something, policeman Zhao Jiang and another guard isolated him into a separate team with the accusation that he was "contradicting the police." In the team, police forced him to squat down for half an hour, causing pain and numbness in his feet and legs. Otherwise, Mr. Wang was detained in a freezing cell and forced to sleep on the ground. He coughed all day long. He was given only salted vegetables and buns, which lacked any nutrients. He suffered various attempts by police to coerce and brainwash him. Mr. Wang's wife also originally practiced Falun Gong. After being threatened and persecuted by authorities, she unwillingly gave up the practice. After beginning to practice Falun Gong her health was good, but later when she stopped practicing she gradually became weak again. With her failing health and the shock of her husband's detention she passed away. Mr. Wang Enli is seeing more and more clearly the face of the evil, is becoming more clear-minded in clarifying the truth and following the righteous path of Fa-rectification.

From November 12 to November 15, 2002, Beijing Forced Labor Camp Bureau held four consecutive sessions of "Brainwashing Training Classes." More than 100 policemen and the chief of each labor camp responsible for the brainwashing classes took part in the "training." The directors of the Beijing "610 Office" Liu Wei and Zhang Xingrong gave speeches, saying that at present it has become harder and harder to "transform" practitioners and that the number of people who are able to be forced into giving up their belief is becoming lower and lower. In addition they said that even a large number of people who have initially given up their practice change their minds quickly and return to practicing. They ordered the police to study new ways to ensure that practitioners don't have access to information that would make them change their minds once they are "transformed." They were asked to pay special attention to current news and writings that come off of the Clearwisdom website. Police were also ordered to analyze a "classic" case of "transforming" a practitioner and to launch another all out assault on practitioners before the end of the year. They told the police to adopt means to guarantee the "rate of transformation," and to ensure that practitioners don't "turn back" on a large scale once they are "transformed." After the meeting, each labor camp started to study various brainwashing tactics and the bureau specifically chose and dispatched personnel to work in female labor camps and Tuanhe forced labor camp in particular in order to help direct the all out assault before the end of the year.

Chen Zhanqiang is a male practitioner from Handan City and an employee of Handan Steel Corporation. On August 31, 2002 he took part in a Falun Dafa experience sharing conference in Cheng'an City and was arrested after some unknown person turned him in. He was detained in Handan No. 2 Detention Center and endured inhumane torture. Currently he is still being detained there.

Yang Fenglian is a female practitioner from Handan City and a teacher at the Hebei Architecture Scientific Technology College. Before the opening of Chinese ruling Party's 16^th Congress police from Kaiyuan police station went to her home to arrest her. When she refused to open the door, police broke into the room and arrested her and her daughter, who is also a practitioner, and detained them at the Handan No. 2 Detention Center. She is currently being held in a labor camp.

Li Jianying is a female practitioner from Handan City. The police arrested her before the opening of Chinese ruling Party's 16^th Congress and detained her at Handan No. 2 Detention Center. Without any reason, she was illegally sent to labor camp. The police even refused to inform her family.

Liu Ling is a female practitioner from Handan City and a student at the Handan Normal College. Before the opening of Chinese ruling Party's 16^th Congress police from Yuxinnan police station went to her home to arrest her. Her father argued with the police and tried to prevent them from illegally arresting her. In the end, the police arrested both her and her father. They were detained at the Handan No.1 Detention Center.
