Congresswoman Requests U.S. Embassy in Beijing to Help Charles Li

Randt, Jr., Ambassador American Embassy Beijing 3 Xiu Shui Bei Jie, Chaoyang District Beijing, China Dear Ambassador Randt, My constituent and United States citizen, Charles Li, was arrested at Guangzhou Airport on January 22, 2003 and transferred to Yangzhou Detention Center in Jiangsu Province where, to my knowledge, he is presently detained. Mr. Li has been charged with sabotaging T.V. and/or radio equipment; he denies these charges and believes he has been arrested because of his practice of Falun Gong. I respectfully and urgently request you do everything possible to ensure Mr. Li's safety and effect his immediate release.
