Mr. Zhao Guo is a teacher at Lingyuan City's Beilu Middle School in Liaoning Province. He told his eighth grade students Falun Gong cultivation practice stories, told them the content of Falun Gong books and about "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," the standard to be a good person. He also told them that since he had begun to practice Falun Gong in 1995, he had been always healthy and did not need any medicine. Just because he spoke the truth, Zhao Guo was reported and on November 29 he was illegally sentenced in Lingyuan City's People's Court to four years imprisonment.

In April 2002, Dafa practitioner Guan Chunfeng was arrested from his home by policemen with guns drawn and was secretly detained at Harbin City's Ship Bureau Detention Center. Now he is detained at Harbin City's Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp and has suffered brutal tortures. One of his legs was beaten into disability and he could not squat. Furthermore, his detention term was illegally prolonged. The hardship he is suffering is beyond description.

About 4:00 p.m. on December 12, 2002, perhaps eight officers from Chengdu City's Police Department and the Xindu Police Precinct forcibly took Dafa practitioner Ms. Guo Lirong, a former employee of the Qianfeng Factory, away from her home. Her whereabouts are unknown.

During the National Day of 2002, when Dafa practitioner Mr. Lin Xiaoman just settled down after renting a house at Xindu District in Chengdu City, policemen from the Xindu Police Precinct arrested him and two other practitioners. Now they are illegally detained at the Xindu Detention Center.

On December 3, 2002, policemen from Jiamusi City's Changqing Police Department arrested practitioner Ms. Zhao Lixia when she was making Dafa truth-clarifying materials. On December 13, 2002, policemen arrested practitioner Ms. Kou Yuxiang and her husband at home in Xiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province.

All Residential Offices and Committees in Xiangfang District, Harbin City carried out the secret command from the higher authorities. They harassed practitioners' families door to door, forced practitioners to write the "three statements," [Note: these are documents coerced under extreme pressure, torture and brainwashing, designed by the Chinese authorities to ensure that detained Falun Gong practitioners be appropriately brainwashed. The statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who practices Falun Gong. This system was concocted by the "610 Office," an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] and exerted pressure on practitioners' work units. They ordered the work units to pay 4,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income in urban areas of China; in rural areas it is 200 Yuan] and dispatched personnel to cooperate with the persecution against practitioners. If practitioners did not give up the practice, they would be sent to a brainwashing center for persecution.

Recently, police personnel in Zhoukou City have rampantly arrested practitioners who distributed Dafa truth-clarifying materials, clarified the true situation of Falun Gong by all means and persisted in cultivating. According to investigations, in November and December alone, over 30 Dafa practitioners were arrested and a Dafa- materials-production site was destroyed. These personnel held brainwashing classes for practitioners who had been detained for a long time. In order to achieve their goal of persecuting Dafa practitioners on a long-term basis, for political purposes, they even attempted to link some practitioners to criminal acts.

On the evening of December 22, 2002, practitioner Ms. Wang Xianlan together with another practitioner who was also living in exile went to practitioner Ms. Zhou Yijun's home. The next morning when they left the place, police officers waiting outside arrested and detained them at Jingzhou City's Huayan Hotel.

Wang Xianlan has been on a hunger strike for seven days. The other practitioners arrested at the same time managed to escape with righteous thoughts after three days' detention. As we couldn't get in touch with Zhou Yijun, her situation is unknown.

At the end of November, Chongqing Dafa practitioners had hung two giant truth-clarifying banners, 2.5-meters in length and 0.5-meter in width, (about seven feet by eight inches) on a 30-meter-long high-voltage electrical wire along the roadside at the Rongchang section of the Chengyu Highway. According to local villagers, the two banners stayed there for more than one day and attracted many people who viewed them. When Rongchang County's "610 Office" authorities found this out, they dispatched several police cars to go there, which attracted more people to gather around. It's estimated that at peak time there might have been several hundred people. Authorities from the "610 Office" spent over a day getting the banners down. People who stood by to watch were all discussing this incident, some stealthily admiring the grand feat of Dafa practitioners. As the Chengyu Highway is a part of the Hurong Highway where tens of thousands of vehicles pass every day, it's estimated that thousands of people saw the truth-clarifying banners.
