The "610 Office" Kidnaps and Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners in Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province

On the evening of July 30^th, 2002, the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and officials of Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province, rushed into Dafa practitioners' homes and kidnapped more than 40 practitioners. Many people were forced to leave home to avoid further persecution. All kidnapped Dafa practitioners conducted a group hunger strike to resist the illegal detention. Dafa practitioner Qian Bangyou was charged with being the leader of the hunger strike and brutally tortured.

Over the last few days, steadfast practitioners including Qian Bangyou, Cai Daofeng, Li Yongxian, Shen Bin, Zhang Youju (female) were transferred to a mental hospital. They forced intravenous infusions on the practitioners, and handcuffed and shackled them for long periods of time. Over the last four months Qian Bangyou has become emaciated and even his muscles have atrophied. He has lost the ability to walk or move about. Every day an intravenous infusion maintains his life.

In the detention center, Liu Bangxiu was tied up so that his arms and legs were outstretched and then force-fed through a tube. The authorities left the tube in him for an extended period of time, which led to the walls of his intestines sticking together .

From December 2001, officials of the Mengyang Town government detained and confined another practitioner, her husband and their one and half year old child in a dilapidated room. Under the surveillance of several guards, they were forced to eat, drink and also relieve themselves in the same room. The officials refused to release them without first receiving a payment. In August 2002, the family (including the child) was sent to a detention center for further persecution, where they remain to this day.

Trying to force practitioners to give up their beliefs in Falun Gong, detention centers force them to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. They also force practitioners to march, stand in fixed postures for long periods of time, expose them to the scorching sun, and even use scalding water, fire and lit cigarettes to burn practitioners.
