While she was at home on September 5, 2003, Ms. Xie Qiongying's home was illegally searched and she was arrested without cause. She is currently held at the No.1 Detention Center in Macheng City, where she is on a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Some local thugs organized by policeman Peng Honghui stopped Ms. Zhu Xiying while she was walking on the street. They beat her for over twenty minutes until she lost consciousness. Then she was sent to the local detention center.

The Hongweixing Brainwashing Class was established by the "610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] in order to brainwash and physically torture Falun Dafa practitioners into giving up their spiritual belief. The "610 Office" plotted to illegally detain a hundred and twenty Falun Dafa practitioners and brainwash them. They are currently making arrests to meet their goal.

Also in Daqing City, it has been discovered that the police have installed monitoring devices into new computers being sold at the Computer Town store in order to better monitor and control user access to information on the Internet. Practitioners are also advised to be careful when buying printers and photocopiers.

In early September 2003, several Falun Dafa practitioners, including Mr. Li Lin and Mr. Zhao Jisheng, who had already been illegally detained past the completion of their jail terms, were illegally tried in Yushu City. Several hundred policemen surrounded the courtroom building that morning. The court had deliberately not informed the family members of Falun Dafa practitioners about the trial. When the judge imposed fabricated charges against Falun Dafa practitioners, Li Lin began to expose the lies. A nearby policeman seized him by the throat, choking him so tightly that he could not speak. When Zhao Jisheng began to speak out, the police shocked him into silence with an electric cattle prod. Even the prosecuting attorney was appalled at witnessing such barbaric treatment in the courtroom. More details on this situation will be forthcoming.

In 2001, a Falun Dafa practitioner, an employee from the Laixi Bus Station, was planning a trip to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. Lu Dianpeng, the director on duty at the station, discovered her intentions and refused to dispatch the bus. Laixi Bus Stationmaster, Wang Ron, together with his brother-in-law, a policeman at the Bus Station, dialed 110 for police backup officers and detained her in the Chengguan Police Substation. Wang Rong said that she would be jailed for several years. They also phoned police departments in other cities to stop another practitioner who was also on her way to Beijing. As a result, that practitioner was apprehended and illegally detained for several days.

In August 2001, Mr. Li Xinchai was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor for going to Beijing, and he is still serving that sentence.

On June 8, 2002, the Zhonggezhuang Substation Police illegally arrested Ms. Zhang Cuifang and Ms. Pan Xiuying for making truth-clarifying materials. After fifteen days of illegal detention in Laixi City, they were first transferred to the Qingdao Forced Labor Camp, and then to the Wangchun Forced Labor Camp in Zibo City. Although Pan Xiuying has been released, Zhang Cuifang has yet to return.

On September 20, 2003, Ms. Li Yangqiao, who had been homeless since 2000 in order to avoid near certain illegal arrest, was arrested on a bus. The case will be investigated for more details.

On August 8, 2002, Haicheng District Police illegally arrested Yu Zhiqiang and his mother, Hu Guizhi, and sent them to the No. 1 Detention Center in Anshan City. Although Yu Zhiqiang was later able to elude the authorities, his mother was transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. At the time of her arrest, she was carrying money for their living expenses, which included 1500 Yuan in cash and a checking account with 7000 Yuan deposited in her daughter's name. [The average monthly salary for an urban worker in China is about 500 Yuan.] However, all of her money was confiscated for no reason.

On June 14, 2003, policemen from the Fanrong Police Substation illegally arrested Yu Zhiqiang once again. After first being tortured, he was transferred to the No.2 Detention Center in Anshan City. On July 14, he was transferred to the Haicheng Detention Center. Li Haihua, Yang X and some other people went to Hu Guizhi's daughter's home and had the money in her checking account withdrawn.

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Qijie is being persecuted for his belief. On September 11, 2003, he was illegally sentenced to five years in prison. On September 12, 2003, the "610 Office" in Yili State, together with the Yining Public Security Bureau, forcibly detained seven Falun Dafa practitioners in a brainwashing class. The practitioners have been on a hunger strike for over ten days, strongly protesting the illegal detention.

In March 2003, Changchun Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Wei was illegally arrested and detained in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. He was recently transferred to the Weizigou Forced Labor Camp, for allegedly documenting evidence for one of the lawsuits against Jiang. Three other practitioners were transferred at the same time. According to an anonymous source within the public security system, there will be a three-month program of "Strict Control," directed primarily at Falun Dafa practitioners who insist on their belief.

"610 Office" employees at the Changchun Plant No. 228 were also plotting to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners in their area.

On September 14, 2003, Changchun City Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhongyu was illegally arrested and is being held in the Tiebei Detention Center. His current situation is unknown since no visitors are allowed. Another male practitioner was illegally arrested at the same time but his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Gongjiawan is a small place, but it is the base for persecution of Falun Dafa in Lanzhou City, and home of the notorious Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center. According to a reliable inside source, after the SARS epidemic, some relevant departments hastily hired three hundred people at monthly salaries of 300 Yuan. By day, these people usually stay at the Yangjiaqiao Police Substation or other governmental departments. Each equipped with an electric cattle prod, they go out in the evenings to patrol the Gongjiawan area in an attempt to arrest Falun Dafa practitioners doing truth-clarifying work. The informant stressed that Falun Dafa practitioners should pay close attention to security while doing truth-clarifying work.

According to information from Lanzhou City, there is a rapidly growing number of retired women wearing red armbands who are supposedly on duty in many work units but who may actually be acting as informants.

With National Day (October 1) drawing near, the Harbin City "610 Office" set a quota of Falun Dafa practitioners for each subordinate office to brainwash. The "610 Office" plans to hold a brainwashing class for all practitioners who refuse to write the so-called "statement of guarantee." In addition, those practitioners' salaries will be severely cut. The brainwashing class will be held at Songjiang Electronic Machinery Hotel, totally isolated from the outside world.

At around 5:00 p.m. on September 12, 2003, 68-year-old Mr. Lu Qingzhai was distributing truth-clarifying materials. On the following day, because of an informant, Qinggong Substation Police illegally arrested Lu and detained him in the brainwashing class located inside the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp.

It was recently learned that the Guangdong Provincial Government is launching a new round of persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, and it is named after their new goal that was set this year, that all practitioners become "Completely Transformed & Checked." Such arbitrary things as a practitioner's "attitude" will now be closely scrutinized. In addition, groups of citizens recruited by the "610 Office," the Neighborhood Committees and the local police, have begun to harass Falun Dafa practitioners at home by acting as spies to "inquire" about Falun Dafa announcements they have seen on the Internet. Some have even threatened practitioners and their family members.

Materials that distort and defame Falun Dafa have appeared in the students' Practice Booklets in the Hubei Educational System.

Mr. Wang Chengde had rented a room for doing Falun Dafa work. On September 2, 2003, he had moved out and tried to contact the landlord for his 500 Yuan deposit. The landlord informed on him and assisted the Public Security Bureau in his arrest, which occurred later that day.
