Facts on the Persecution of Mr. Xu Feng and Other Dafa Practitioners in Qingyang County, Gansu Province

(Clearwisdom.net)

On August 21, 2002, Jin Jianxun, Zhan Huailiang, and several other people from Xifeng City Public Security Bureau went to Qingyang County Telecommunications Bureau to apprehend Dafa practitioner Xu Feng and take him to the Xifeng Public Security Bureau. Then around 9 p.m., Zhan Huailiang, Fu Yutao, Meng Xiang, Feng Lijuan, and two other people broke into Mr. Xu Feng's home and combed through it until 3 o'clock in the morning. They stole 10,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] worth of Xu family belongings, including a VCD player, sunglasses, a stereo, a printer, telephone lines, etc. Xu's wife Jin Yanping asked for an itemized receipt of all the things that were being taken, but was refused. During his apprehension, Xu Feng's cell phone, computer, and 10,000 Yuan in cash were also confiscated, and are still missing.

After being taken to the Xifeng Public Security Bureau, Xu Feng was forced to sit on an iron chair in a detention room while handcuffed to a flue. The police were on 3-shift rotations so they could interrogate him 24 hours a day. It was hard for him to eat, drink, or wash his face. After 7 or 8 days, his bottom was abraded and bleeding but he was still not allowed to sleep or take a rest.

During that period, Xu's wife was also interrogated once or twice almost every day. Each interrogation lasted one to four hours; but they didn't get any information from the couple. On September 1, 2002, Mr. Xu left the Public Security Bureau with righteous thoughts. Without a cent, he walked in bare feet and slept in fields until he got to the home of one of his relatives on September 3. He was apprehended again on September 17 while trying to contact other practitioners. Xu was hung up and tortured for 7 days and 7 nights. Although he was beaten until he was black and blue and unconscious, the police did not get any information from him.

At the same time, police were desperately trying to arrest other Dafa practitioners. Mr. Guan Qiang, Ms. Ma Yuling, Ms. Wang Zhihua, Ms. Jin Yanping (Xu's wife), and 5 of Xu Feng's relatives (who do not practice Falun Gong) were arrested. In October, Xu Feng's 70 plus father and Xu's child went to see the police chief. The old man asked the police to release Xu and his wife since the he couldn't take care of himself, let alone look after the child, and no relatives dared to visit them to help out. On October 2, Xu's wife was released.

On November 28, 2002, on Xifeng City Court, 10 Dafa practitioners were illegally sentenced to jail. Mr. Xu Feng was sentenced to fourteen and a half years, Mr. Guan Qiang eleven years, Ms. Ma Yuling six years, and the other 7 practitioner were each sentenced to one to one and a half years.

On July 13, 2003, Xu, Guan, and Ma were sent to Lanzhou City Prison and their families were not allowed to visit them. Messages from inside say that Dafa practitioners are currently on a hunger strike to protest the persecution and not give in to the evil.
