Supplemental Information on the Persecution of Shanghai Practitioner Li Weihong Before She Died
By a Practitioner from China
(Clearwisdom.net) At the end of November 2000, Shanghai Falun Dafa
practitioner Li Weihong and several other fellow practitioners had their
temporary residence broken into by the Wenzhou Public Security Bureau officers
and the "610 Office," They were forcefully arrested in Wenzhou City,
Zhejiang Province. All their personal properties including cash, cell phone and
laptop computer, etc., were confiscated and not returned.
In about June 2001, Wenzhou Municipal Court started the first illegal trial
for the four of them. On that day, Li Weihong was carried into the court, since
she had suffered greatly in detention and was emaciated, she could only weakly
answer the questions posed to her with gestures such as nodding or shaking the
head. She was so weak physically that she collapsed in the court and was carried
in and out of the court several times. As a result, the court had to take a
break in their illegal questioning each time she collapsed. At that time, there
were practitioners' family and the lawyers representing her who were present.
Later Li Weihong was bailed out for medical treatment, and was brought back to
Shanghai by her stepfather. In June 2001, the Wenzhou Municipal Court issued an
illegal verdict and Li Weihong was sentenced to one-year imprisonment.
At that time, another practitioner named Zhang Xinhong from Zhejiang Province
was also on trial. Since November 2000, Zhang had been illegally jailed at
Wenzhou Lucheng Labor Camp by the Wenzhou Public Security Bureau and the
"610 Office" for over one year. At the end of 2001, Zhang was
summarily sentenced to ten years' imprisonment. Zhang Xinhong is serving a term
at the No. 4 Prison of Zhejiang Province. Zhang Xinghong's father was ill after
being forced to give up practicing Falun Gong against his own will and died
because of failing to respond to any medical treatment several days before the
illegal verdict was issued.
