(Clearwisdom.net) The guard Xu Shangxian and the supervisor Deng Yunzhun ignore the law by using inhuman methods to torture Dafa practitioners in the Rujian Division of Minxi Prison.

In May 2002, Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Wenbin was handcuffed and hung by Deng Yunchun for two days for no reason. At first his hands were handcuffed behind his back to the window bars and he was hung with the tips of his toes touching the ground. Then his two hands were handcuffed directly to the window. When practitioner Guo Yaowu and other practitioners asked for the reason behind this, the guard forced them all into the fixed position made them stand out in the sun for a whole day. Guo Yaowu asked the guard, " We didn't do anything wrong. Why are we left out in the sun like this?" Because of this, he was hung up higher and handcuffed to the window all day and night. Practitioner Ye Guohua was hung and handcuffed with only his toes touching the ground for three days and two nights. Not only that, he was also stripped bare above the waist so that mosquitoes could bite him. They threatened that they would take off all his clothes in order to allow the mosquitoes and bugs to bite him all over his body. Practitioner Lin Shi told Xu Shangxian that he shouldn't torture people like that and he was also handcuffed to the window bars and hung alongside Xu Shangxian. After these events, Falun Gong practitioners reported being harmed and humiliated to the head of the prison, but the prison head did not do anything about it.

Between August 12 and 15 of 2002, the guards of the prison attempted to force Falun Gong practitioners to write the "Three Statements"* for the purpose "Education and Change." They took over twenty practitioners to the new prison building and used all sorts of cruel methods to torture them. For example, the practitioners weren't allowed to sleep for a few days and were handcuffed to the window and hung up by two pairs of handcuffs, etc. Yang Wenbin was tortured like this for four days and three nights. Finally, in order to force Falun Gong practitioners into recording a tape documenting their "change," an officer said to him, "You are the one who has been chosen for the taped recordings of torture during interrogation." Once more Yang Wenbin was suspended and handcuffed to the window bars and was not even allowed to go to the bathroom. Even now, the scars on his hands from being handcuffed are still clearly visible.

On December 18, 2002, practitioner Jiang Sheng was suspended high and handcuffed to the window for seven days and six nights by Xu Shangxian in the same new prison building because he did the sitting meditation. The next day while Jiang Sheng was strung up, practitioner Qiu Lifeng said to Xu Shangxian: "I will sue you for this!" So he was suspended for three days as well by Xu Shangxian. Later on when Jiang Sheng was let down, his feet were so swollen that he could not put on his shoes or walk normally.

On January 3, 2003, practitioner Wang Erxin was beaten by a guard in Group 1 of the Third Brigade. He ended up with a bruised nose and a swollen face. The diagnosis from the doctor in the prison hospital was a right eye contusion.

On February 22, 2003, in the Rujian Division, practitioners Chen Jin, Li Jian, Chen Ridong and Wang Minhu were handcuffed and hung for between 30 hours to 50 hours each. One of them passed out. Chen Jin and Wang Minhui were also kicked and beaten by Xu Shangxian. Ironically, the Rujian Division was known as "the Unit for Achieving Civilized Standards." To achieve the standard of changing Falun Gong practitioners, the police of the prison still used all sorts of methods to destroy, humiliate, punish, beat, and torture the practitioners. Even so, the Group 1 of the Third Brigade was named as the "Most Civilized Prison in the Province" by the government.

In the Rujia Division, Deng Yunchun and Xu Shangxian do not allow criminals to contact and talk to the practitioners. If they do they would be punished by loss of "merit" or by forcing them to stand facing a wall, or even being sent directly to "the Strict Control Division."

In January 2003, practitioners Xu Guotai and Jiang Sheng were handcuffed and hung by the supervisor of the First Brigade for two days for "talking loudly to others in the brigade." This brigade had been highly praised in the Xinsheng Newspaper due to being named "A Good Model of Humane Management" by Minxi Prison. When an officer of the Education Office saw that practitioner Yang Wenbin was suffering tremendous pain from the hanging, he said, "The purpose of being handcuffed and hung is to treat your disease." The other officer even said, "This place is a dictatorship. No laws or discussion about laws exists here."

In March 2003, practitioner Xiang Benzhi was beaten badly by a guard and some criminals who were following instructions from a guard in the laundry drying area of Group 1 of the Fourth Brigade. This happened during the same period of promoting "humanity" in the management.

On May 4, 2003, Dafa practitioner Le Sheng was beaten by the deputy supervisor and officer Huang in the Combination Group of the Second Brigade. In response, Le Sheng went on a hunger strike to protest the evil action for eight days. He was force-fed every day and suffered a great deal, but the persons who beat him pretended that nothing happened. In the pursuit of justice, Dafa practitioners in the Combination Group of the Second Brigade went on a hunger strike together two times. The hunger strikes lasted a total of 90 days. Finally, all of the prison's practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest and asked the authorities to strictly punish the persecutors. The prison then sent some people to tell the practitioners that Le Sheng had resumed eating and that his persecutors had been punished.

In addition, in the Rujian Division and other groups, Dafa practitioners do not have the right to use pens and paper. These privileges have been stripped from them in the prison.

* Three Statements (also called guarantee or repentance statements) are documents coerced under extreme pressure, torture and brainwashing, designed by Chinese authorities to ensure that detained Falun Gong practitioners be brainwashed. The statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list containing names and addresses of all family, friends and acquaintances of the detainee who practices Falun Gong. This system was concocted by the "610 Office."
