An Open Letter to the Chinese Minister for Justice, Who is Currently Visiting Finland

Dear Minister Zhang Fusen,

I am happy to hear that you are visiting Finland right now. It was twenty years ago since we last met. Time has passed so quickly. Now you have become a minister with a good career in politics, and I have found my way happiness, by having a peaceful mind and a healthy body through practising Falun Gong.

I read on the Internet that you have been involved in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Being an old acquaintance and fellow student of Qinghua University, I would like to say a few words from my heart to you:

Because Falun Gong became very popular as a result of its good effect on the body and mind, Jiang Zemin, the former president of China, was so jealous and afraid of loosing control over peoples' mind that he started to persecute Falun Gong in 1999. Under the rule of this dictator, the "6-10" office, a Gestapo like agency in China, was established on the 10th of June 1999. Since then, a large scale, systematic, and horrific persecution and killing of innocent Falun Gong practitioners in China has escalated. Jiang's regime has adopted a nationwide policy of "defaming their reputation, bankrupting them financially, and destroying them physically" against practitioners of Falun Gong. Killing, torture, imprisonment, detention in mental hospitals and forced abortion have been commonly used to eliminate Falun Gong practitioners as a group.

According to reports from family or friends of practitioners in China, as well as information from worldwide human rights organisations, there have been a couple of hundred people persecuted to death in labour camps or brainwashing classes. Jiang's regime has used a propaganda campaign to spread lies to demonise Falun Gong practitioners. Chinese people from all walks of life have been forced to keep a distance from or forced to slander Falun Gong.

Among the post graduates from our Qinghua University, there was a talented young man by the name of Yuan Jiang, who was arrested on August 30th 2001. He was cruelly tortured because he refused to give up his practice of Falun Gong. Two months later, he was killed in prison. He was only twenty nine years old. Zhao Ming is another example: he was arrested and tortured for twenty two months in a labour camp in China, just because he returned to China from Ireland to tell the truth of Falun Gong to the Chinese government. Examples are many. If you knew the facts, I am sure you would feel pain in your heart as well.

Although Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted so severely for four years now, Falun Gong practitioners both inside and outside China have resisted peacefully, thanks to our belief in truthfulness, compassion and tolerance. More and more people know about the facts about Falun Gong. Falun Gong has now spread to more than sixty countries worldwide and has received over a thousand proclamations.

As the Chinese Minister for Justice, I think that you know very well what is right and wrong, and you know the difference between black and white in your heart. Having experienced so many political struggles and fights for power within the communist party in China, we should all learn to stop persecuting innocent people and live with a heart of conscience.

I don't know if you believe the existence of gods, but you should at least believe that there is justice in the cosmos. This persecution will come to an end. I sincerely hope you are not a party to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and that you avoid the evil behind it. For the goodness of humankind and for the good of your conscious, please help to stop the persecution.
