Exposing the wicked policemen and bad persons and publicizing their evil deeds is extremely effective at shocking and restraining those irrational, wicked people. At the same time, by clarifying the facts to the people on a local level it most directly exposes, and generates public awareness of, the wicked persecution. It is also a great way to save the people who have been poisoned and deceived by the lies. I hope all Dafa disciples and new students in Mainland China will do this well.

Master has said in Fa lectures that the evil outside Mainland China that's persecuting Falun Gong has completely failed. Even in Mainland China, the evil persecution is going towards failure. As Fa-rectification is in the final stages, and as the evil is being completely eliminated and cannot protect one end without losing the other, why is the evil still rampant in some areas? Of course, there is more than one reason, but based on my knowledge of recent events that occurred in our region during Fa-rectification and situations in other regions by browsing Clearwisdom, I think there is one aspect in which we are not doing well enough and have even overlooked. I don't mean to say that we have slacked off in sending forth righteous thoughts or in exposing the local evil online, but rather we overlooked exposing the evil happening locally to the local people.

Through our experience, we felt that letting the local people, including the perpetrators' family, friends, neighbors, and those who know them, learn about perpetrators' crimes in persecuting Dafa practitioners in their immediate area is one of the most effective ways to eliminate the evil and clarify the truth in a deeper and more thorough manner. The article "All Falun Dafa Disciples Illegally Imprisoned in Xiangcheng City, Henan Province Have Been Released" is a successful case of Dafa practitioners cooperating as a whole body and actively exposing the evil happening locally. In order to clarify this issue in a more thorough manner, I will share my understandings gained recently and the experience of practitioners in my area. I hope it can help fellow practitioners in some areas of Mainland China.

In summer 2003, we exposed the crimes committed by a deputy head of the county detention center on a large scale. This perpetrator spared no effort in following the head of the evil since the persecution began, and he fanatically persecuted Dafa practitioners. In the past four years, almost all of the Dafa practitioners who were illegally detained at this detention center were brutally beaten by him. He used base and inhuman means to torture the practitioners. Although he was exposed on Clearwisdom, he refused to change his ways and continued to persecute the local practitioners. In our effort to expose his crimes, our practitioners in the local area worked together and posted truth clarification flyers all over the streets and alleys of the city. A few days later, a local newspaper published the news about the detention center being scrutinized and re-organized. At the same time, from the perspective of clarifying the truth and saving people, we wrote an open letter to the perpetrator's wife as well as his child, who is attending high school. We also distributed this letter as a truth clarification flyer. We placed our emphasis on the perpetrator's work unit, around his home building, his wife's work unit and the surrounding area. We either distributed or mailed the letter. Our goal was to let people who knew this perpetrator learn the truth. We felt that it was the most effective way to eliminate the evil and clarify the truth in a deeper and more thorough manner. Of course, when writing a letter and making flyers, we should pay attention to choosing the right words and using the right tone when we target different people. On a fundamental level we are saving people and clarifying the truth. We are not retaliating like everyday people, so we must be benevolent and our expression must be kind. However, when talking to or about the perpetrator, we must display the solemnity and dignity of Dafa. The truth clarification material we used in this activity has been published in an article named "An Open Letter to the Wife of Chaoyang District Detention Center Deputy Director Hao Naifeng."

Soon after, news was heard that all of the Dafa practitioners illegally detained at the county detention center were released, except a few who were previously sentenced to prison and sent elsewhere. A former classmate of the perpetrator told Dafa practitioners that the perpetrator said he would "never do that [persecution] again." During this period, we received help from overseas practitioners. This classmate revealed that during this period, the detention center received numerous phone calls, and the call logs made up a big pile of paper.

Through this activity, we had a more specific understanding of exposing the evil and exposing the evil happening locally to the local people. However, to be more accurate, at the time we were only encouraged by the outcome, but we didn't understand it more clearly and rationally from the Fa, which caused us to encounter some obstacles in our recent effort to expose the local evil covering a broader area. I will explain this further at the end of this article.

Exposing the evil is not the goal; our goal is to eliminate it. The fundamental goal is to clarify the truth and save people. In order to clarify the truth more effectively, it's necessary to understand everyday people's mentality. An ordinary person cares much more about a small boil on his neck than 40 earthquakes that took place in Antarctica. In other words, everyday people care most about things that are closest to them, and they are most sensitive to the changes in themselves and in their living environment. Therefore, we can base our truth clarification on this fact to achieve better results. We can see this from one incident. On the day of the Autumn Festival, a fellow practitioner was being assaulted in front of the building in which he lives. Many people were watching the incident, and the police spread lies among the surrounding people and deceived some of them. Afterwards, we wrote an open letter to the residents of the building and made flyers to expose the evil and clarify the truth about this incident, and we distributed them mostly in the neighborhood and the surrounding area of the fellow practitioner's home. The feedback was great. The people not only read the flyer themselves, they passed it among their friends and colleagues. A key reason why we achieved such a result was because this incident took place right beside them, so it's very tangible for them. Also, we felt that to a certain extent, this was much more convincing than distributing flyers and pamphlets describing other things. The reason is the same. One noteworthy point is that we should take into account the safety of the fellow practitioner and his family when we make flyers discussing a specific practitioner.

Recently, we held yet another activity to rescue fellow practitioners who have been detained long-term at another detention center within the city, by exposing the evil happening locally and clarifying the truth covering a broader area. Based on the state of fellow practitioners, we have encountered problems. This reminds me of the second hearing held on October 7 at the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Illinois. Before the hearing, we quickly spread the news among practitioners, and we all sent forth righteous thoughts for this case. We all know the result is the judge upheld his original decision. Afterwards, I gradually realized that it's not wrong to send forth righteous thoughts, but we still developed attachment to the result of this case, which is wrong. I really regret that I didn't discuss with fellow practitioners in a timely manner regarding the hearing. Now, the same problem has occurred. Through sharing experiences, we felt that the result is not as good as last time, and when we looked back, we remembered when we exposed the deputy head of the detention center, we didn't have any attachments and simply wanted to expose and eliminate the evil. We had no other pursuit, and the result was amazing. However, in this activity, we had such a strong sense of pursuit! Although it's still ongoing, it has already exposed our omission as a whole body. In fact, the Fa is what exposes the evil. Only when we truly melt into the Fa, negate and eliminate this evil persecution from the depths of our hearts without any human notions mixed in, can the boundless power of the Fa be manifested.
