Liu Chengjun's Life is In Danger--Police Will Not Allow Him Medical Parole
(Clearwisdom.net) The life of Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Chengjun is in grave danger. He
remained unconscious for an entire day following an inability to eat or drink
for the past twenty-five days. He is a patient at Central Hospital, located
within the Jilin Provincial Forced Labor Camp, where for many days he has been
officially classified as "life at risk." Jilin City Prison has agreed to
temporarily release him for medical treatment, but as he is a registered
resident of Nong-an County, that would put him under the jurisdiction of the
Nong-an County Police System, and they have refused to accept him because they
are afraid to accept responsibility for his life. Consequently, the prison
voided his medical parole forms, and Liu Chengjun has not been allowed to go
home. Liu Chengjun, from Changchun City, Jilin Province, was illegally arrested
because of a March 5, 2002 incident involving tapping into the cable TV system
to broadcast a Falun Gong truth-clarification program, and was sentenced to
nineteen years in prison. After Clearwisdom.net reported that Liu Chengjun's life was in danger (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/10/27/41716.html),
overseas Falun Dafa practitioners initiated many rescue activities. Some human
rights organizations have also extended their help. The Swiss Christian
Anti-Torture and Anti-Capital Punishment Organization wrote letters to Chinese
Chairman Hu Jintao, Jilin Provincial Police Chief Zhao Yongji, and to the
Chinese Embassy in Bern, "strongly calling for Jilin Provincial Police Chief to
investigate the prison in Jilin Province and the situation at the Changchun
Police Hospital, and to institute the necessary measures to protect detainees
from suffering illegal torture." The Swiss Christian Anti-Torture and Anti-Capital Punishment Organization
also requested in its letter, to bring to justice those who have inflicted
torture, and specifically demanded that Liu Chengjun receive proper medical
treatment. We are now hearing that Falun Dafa practitioners are being tortured to death
every day, and that these news reports are largely being covered up by
government-fabricated lies. In order to break through the information blockade
in Mainland China, Liu Chengjun and other Falun Dafa practitioners in China have
been clarifying the truth to the Chinese people through tapping into the cable
TV system. At the same time, the tapping into the TV system has brought the
persecution of Falun Gong to the attention of western people. In terms of freedom of media, China is the worst. Many Chinese laws conflict
with the Chinese Constitution, which is the foundation of their legal system. In
contrast, the U.S. legal system is based on democracy and contains a mechanism
of checks and balances, while the order of a non-elected dictator would be the
"law" in China. The state controls the media in China, while Americans have many channels
available through which to make their voices heard, such as writing newspaper
editorials, talking with Congresspersons or giving public speeches. Falun Dafa
practitioners in China would interrupt TV signals to broadcast their
information, because they have no other avenue of voicing the suppressed truth.
Although the Chinese Constitution purports to grant citizens certain rights,
such as freedom of speech and assembly, these rights are never realized in
actual practice. That some people would surreptitiously replace the normal Chinese TV signals
with truthful information for the good of the people, actually conforms with
certain tenets of the Chinese Constitution, as well as conforming to a higher
moral standard. Not only would Falun Dafa practitioners never damage individual
or public property, but also they provide positive information to help improve
the country. Their conduct is very high, and truly serves the people at large.
While this kind of "non-violent resistance" is punished in China, it would be
viewed as heroic in most other countries. Falun Dafa practitioners have done this activity based on the most unselfish
of reasons. They are not only saving those who are being tortured in the prisons
for their faith, but they are also saving the deceived general public by
allowing them a precious chance to have their eyes, ears, minds and hearts
opened. Phone numbers of relevant parties: Director of Jilin City Prison in Jilin Province, Li Qiang, 432-841551-3001.
