(Clearwisdom.net) Because Jiang's regime persecutes Falun Gong, jails in China have detained many Falun Gong practitioners and used all means to force them to give up their beliefs. These Falun Gong practitioners are just people who are whole-heartedly striving to be good. On the contrary, a Bali Island Jail is introducing Falun Gong to inmates in order to help them turn away from a life of crime and to return to goodness.

About one year ago, in a municipal meeting the director of Bali Island Bangli Jail learned that Falun Gong could help people to be good. He thus contacted Falun Gong practitioners in Bali Island and invited them to teach his prisoners Falun Gong. At the beginning, he only wanted to allow drug abusers to learn.

However, when Falun Gong practitioners came to the jail and asked prisoners whether or not they want to learn Falun Gong out of their own will, it turned out that many inmates showed an interest in Falun Gong and wanted to learn. Therefore, practitioners established a practice site in this jail, and they voluntarily come to teach Falun Gong every Thursday afternoon. The jail provides its auditorium for the group practice. When prisoners practice the Falun Gong exercises, the site is very serene with only minimum control. Dozens of prisoners practice in the auditorium with only the officer in charge of ideological assistance present. This officer was very glad to talk about the good changes happening to these prisoners: specifically, they have become more kind and polite. He believes this change is very helpful for the inmates to return to goodness. This integration is what he wants, and it will help assure that they won't commit crimes again after being released.

Many prisoners also mentioned that they have experienced good changes in both mind and body since they started practicing Falun Gong. I. Gedesuma, a prisoner with a 2-year jail-term, said that jail life had made him depressed with a bad temper. Zhuan Falun, however, has given him inner peace. He thus persists in reading the Fa and practicing the exercises. Wayan Somo was jailed because of murder. After he learned Falun Gong, he feels that he is no longer as impatient as before. Many drug abusers also told us that Zhuan Falun has touched them in the depth of their souls.

Inmate Wayanloji came from Songlan Dak Village, Bali Island. He was jailed because of stealing. After he finished his prison term and got released, he started to learn Falun Gong at home. He practices Falun Gong exercises three times a day and reads Zhuan Falun every day. His skin disease has disappeared, and his wife said that before he often stayed out without telling her his whereabouts. Now he is at home every day making bamboo baskets to earn a living. His neighbors said that he has returned to goodness and they are willing to accept him. After seeing his changes, they also have come to learn Falun Gong.
