Media in Taiwan and Hong Kong Report Lawsuit Filed by Taiwan Falun Gong Practitioners against Jiang Zemin
(Clearwisdom.net) Media in Taiwan and Hong Kong have reported the
lawsuit filed by Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners against Jiang Zemin with the
following news headlines: Central Daily: Falun Gong Filed Lawsuits in Thirteen Countries against
Jiang Zemin for Persecution Apple Daily: Falun Gong Brings Lawsuit against Jiang Zemin Chinatimes: Falun Gong Practitioners Sue Jiang Zemin Public Television Service: Falun Gong Practitioners Accuse Jiang Zemin of
Human Rights Abuses China Post: Falun Gong Accuse Members of Jiang Zemin Clique of
"Crimes of Genocide" Taibei Times: Falun Gong Practitioners Bring a Suit against Jiang Zemin Minshi News issued the following report: "The Higher Court Accepts Lawsuit against Jiang Zemin by Taiwan Falun
Gong Practitioners." "The Higher Court accepted an unprecedented case on the 17th.
Several Falun Gong practitioners filed a lawsuit against China's former chairman
Jiang Zemin for human rights abuses. Although it would be difficult in the
process of hearing the case due to the different political entities, Falun Gong
practitioners claim that actions to bring Jiang Zemin to trail will spread
around the world like wildfire." Falun Gong has 300,000 practitioners in Taiwan. Several of those filed a
lawsuit with the Higher Court against China's former president Jiang Zemin for
Human Rights abuses, claiming the laws Jiang adopted are giving him free reign
to commit crimes of genocide. However, in view of the situation on the two sides
of the Taiwan Straits, the chances of convicting Jiang Zemin are very slim.
Still, Falun Gong practitioners believe they have taken the first step. In fact, people from Taiwan are not the first to sue Jiang Zemin for the
human rights violation. Lawsuits against Jiang Zemin have already been filed by
Falun Gong groups in the U.S., Belgium and Spain. Falun Gong practitioners in
Australia, Canada, Switzerland and Ireland are also planing to follow the
lawsuit. Although each country has her own laws, yet, in a situation where over
60 countries have Falun Gong practitioners, the action to bring Jiang Zemin to
public trial will officially proceed. We hope Falun Gong practitioners [in
China] will no longer be persecuted and will be treated in a humane manner. |
