(Clearwisdom.net) Yoko Kaneko, a resident of Niigata, Sado Island, Japan, who was illegally sentenced to one-year-and-a-half of forced labor education for distributing Falun Gong flyers, was released on the morning of November 23 in Beijing.
On May 24 last year, Yoko Kaneko was arrested in Beijing while distributing Falun Gong flyers and sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp. During her detention, her husband, relatives and Falun Gong practitioners joined efforts in getting her out. A rescue committee was established in Tokyo, and a support group was founded in Osaka. Practitioners collected signatures in various places in Japan, as well as on the Internet. They also held press conferences, raising awareness of Yoko Kaneko's plight. Moreover, practitioners also held a SOS Walk to Rescue Yoko Kaneko several times in her residence county, Niigata, to collect signatures.
On July 29 last year, a coalition was formed by 21 members of Congress from the four major parties in Japan to rescue Yoko. With their help, practitioners collected over 130,000 signatures by November this year. In addition, 270 members of congress have written support letters.
At the same time, various governments, human rights organizations, and individuals have called upon the Japanese government to lend support in helping free Yoko Kaneko. Some of them directly called upon the Chinese government to immediately release all detained Falun Gong practitioners.
The Japanese government has expressed its wish to help rescue Yoko Kaneko on many different occasions. On November 18 this year, shortly before Yoko's labor education term expired, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, clearly stated that the Japanese government would treat Yoko Kaneko the same as Japanese citizens.
According to a news report on November 18, 2003, from a Japanese TV station, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi said, "Since Yoko Kaneko married a Japanese citizen and lived in Japan, we treat her as a Japanese citizen."
(Clearwisdom.net) Zhang Shengshan in Borong Community, Mo County, Inner Mongolia was tortured barbarically by the police and inmates at the Mo County Detention Center because of his strong belief in the goodness of Falun Dafa. Shengshan died from torture on February 14, 2003. He was only 21-years-old. Zhang Shengshan himself was not a Falun Gong practitioner, but from his sisters who practice Falun Gong, Shengshan knew that Falun Gong guides people towards goodness.
On the evening of January 9, 2003, Shengshan was illegally abducted into the detention center at Moldov Wadagal County (Mo County). Because his sisters practice Falun Dafa (they had already been held at a forced labor camp), he knew Dafa is good. Police officer Du Yulin beat him up savagely. He also instructed other criminals to hit him. Then Shengshan's wrists and ankles were chained to a bed board in such a manner that he was unable to move his body. He was not allowed any cover and was left to freeze in the cold weather. He did not give in and shouted. Du Yulin ended up putting an iron chain in his mouth and did not let him speak. Under orders from the prison guard, he was not allowed to eat, drink, or go to the restroom. He was also forced to drink extremely hot water. They used all means to torture him. After one month, he became haggard. Due to the cruel torture of being chained to the bed board, his wrists were so worn that his bones and tendons were exposed.
Even so, the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and the state guard division of the public safety bureau did not send him to the hospital. They labeled him as having a mental illness and forced him into Fuyu County mental hospital. After examination, he was not diagnosed as a mental patient and subsequently was sent back to the detention center.
On the morning of February 14, 2003, Shengshan died at the Mo County Detention Center. The 610 Office and police threatened his family to keep them from exposing the truth.
Shengshan was jailed illegally for more than one year and tortured to death simply for telling the truth, that Falun Dafa is good. He was only 21-years-old!
In May 2003, Zhang Yiqun was taken away by the 610 Office and police, also because he said that Dafa is good. He was held at the same detention center beyond the legal limit.
On October 29, 2003, the 610 Office, Public Safety Bureau and police station broke into Dafa practitioner Yang Wenhua's home and abducted her. Currently, Yang Wenhua is illegally jailed at the Mo County detention center.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. He Xiaoqiu, a resident of Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on March 19, 2002 along with four other practitioners for intercepting cable TV to broadcast programs on the facts of Falun Gong. One of the practitioners, Ms. Zhang Li, has already been tortured to death at the Anshan City Detention Center. While in detention, Ms. He suffered inhumane torture. Later she was sentenced to 14 years in prison without any legal process. However, the prison refused to take her because of her precarious physical condition. Currently Ms. He is being detained at the Anshan City Detention Center.
Ms. Lou Yan, a resident of Tiexi District, Anshan City, Liaoning Province has been arrested and had her home ransacked many times. Because the police found Dafa materials in her home, she was illegally sentenced to five years in prison. She is currently being detained at the Anshan City Detention Center.
Ms. Qiu Shihui was arrested in 2002. She is currently being detained at the Anshan City Detention Center.
At present, all three practitioners are in critical condition and need immediate medical attention. However, the detention center refuses to release them.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Du Hongfang was unlawfully arrested by authorities from the Jilin City Police Department in July 2002. After all sorts of torture, she was unlawfully sentenced for 2 years. Now she is being detained at Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.
In the second group of the 4th brigade, she was forcefully brainwashed by collaborators [Former Falun Gong practitioners who have turned against Dafa due to brainwashing and torture.] and policemen under the instruction of Zhang Guimei. She was not permitted to sleep and forcibly kept awake day and night, and was forced to watch videotapes and read books slandering Falun Dafa and Teacher. In spite of such massive pressure, she persisted in her beliefs. She exposed the crimes Jiang and his collaborators have committed towards Dafa practitioners in the monthly "Assembly of Thoughts Report", and would sign her name with the title "Dafa practitioner". In retaliation, the police tortured her with electric batons each time.
In the labor camp, the "transformation rate" has a quota to be maintained at a 90% level. To achieve this, 7 or 8 policemen, instructed by their supervisor, tortured her to an extreme. However, their efforts to force her to renounce her belief were all in vain. Then, they took out pre-written "Agreement to Transform" statements for her to sign. She refused, of course. The group of policemen forced her down onto the ground, some grabbed her arms, while some pressed and held her legs. Two of them held her hand and forced her fingerprint onto the agreement.
She resisted with righteous thoughts and told the policemen: "Dafa is my life, whatever means you use cannot change my determination to practice Falun Dafa." She also actively prevented those policemen from further committing crimes by telling the facts of Falun Dafa to them. The supervisor and other policemen were awed by her courage and gave her back the signed agreement. Finally, the supervisor asked her not to sign the title, "Dafa practitioner" in the monthly report, but she refused as usual.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Han Zhe is a Dafa practitioner from Wanghua District, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. On December 14, 2001, while distributing Dafa truth-clarification materials, the security department from the Fushun City Steel Company abducted him. He was sent directly to the Fushun City Labor Camp, where he was forced to go through intensive brainwashing for one month. After that, he was detained for four more months.
While in detention, because Han Zhe was very determined in his belief, he was subjected to various forms of torture. Every day he was forced to sit straight on the floor for over 10 hours. Any small movement would invite brutal beatings. At night, he was not allowed to sleep.
Sun Jiwen, administration section chief, shocked Han Zhe with an electric baton.
Under the order of Xu Huli, a camp officer, several criminals lifted Han Zhe and then slammed him to the ground. Then they used wooden planks to beat him all over his body. As a result of such torture, Han Zhe passed out for several days. After he finally woke up, he was no longer in a clear state of mind. Not until then did the camp inform his family to pick him up. He returned home on May 15, 2002.
Currently Han Zhe has been diagnosed as having a mental disorder, which was clearly a result of the torture he was subjected to at the hands of the authorities.

(Clearwisdom.net) Wang Shuchun, Deputy Secretary of the Political and Security Committee in Taishan District, Taian City, Shandong Province is also head of the "610 Office."* This individual has willingly followed Jiang's criminal group to persecute Falun Gong since July 20, 1999. Good is rewarded with good and evil is met by evil, the ancient saying goes. In October 2003, Wang Shuchun had one of his cancerous kidneys removed. We hope that Wang will wake up and learn a lesson from this. Listed below are the crimes he has committed, ordered, or instigated:
Over the past four years, out of loyalty to Jiang, Wang Shuchun has carried out Jiang's genocide policy of "ruin Falun Gong practitioners' reputations, bankrupt them financially, and destroy them physically." With Wang's plotting and conniving, with his instructions and direct participation, hundreds of practitioners were monitored, abducted, and detained. Over a dozen Dafa practitioners were sent to labor camps, two were sentenced, numerous practitioners were fined, and their homes were searched.
Another perpetrator is Meng Xiuqin, secretary of the Political and Security Committee in Taishan District.
We hope that all those who have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners will forsake evil and turn to kindness. If you have ever hated Dafa, have ever destroyed Dafa truth-clarifying materials, or ever reported Falun Gong practitioners because of your ignorance, please learn the truth as soon as possible and change your attitude toward Dafa before it is too late.

** Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.
*** The four limbs of the practitioner are stretched out and tied to the four corners of an icy-cold metal bed. The practitioner cannot move at all. Neither is he allowed to get up to eat, drink, or use the bathroom. This treatment lasts from several hours up to more than a dozen days. This type of cruel torture causes severe damage to the practitioner both mentally and physically.
(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, some officials in Dazhou City have been conducting brainwashing sessions. They have abducted many Falun Gong practitioners from areas that include the Tongchuan districts of Wanyuan, Dazhu, Kaijiang, and Xuanhan. They then detained tbe practitioners in Longteng Village, Beiwai, Tongchuan District, Dazhou City, subjecting them to brainwashing. To prevent practitioners from practicing the exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts, they used various illegal methods to deprive practitioners of their freedom, including forbidding them to talk to one another other, to double-cross their legs or to fold their hands together [to prevent practitioners from assuming any position of meditation]. They monitored the practitioners day and night.
The persecutors have detained several practitioners, including Mr. Wang Haiquan, Mr. Hu Yongqiang, Ms. Yang Lan and Ms. Zhang Xueying since March, 2003; they have refused to cooperate with the their captors. Recently, they arrested several more male practitioners, including Yang Zhili, Yang Longhu, and Chen Bing. The practitioners were told that if they could not be "transformed" in three months, they would be sent directly to a forced-labor camp for the rest of their lives.
Yan Yonghe, the former Meishan City Party Committee Secretary, has been persecuting Falun Gong. Recently, he was promoted to be the Dazhou City Party Committee Secretary and started to hold brainwashing sessions to persecute Falun Gong practitioners just after he arrived in Dazhou. Zhang Weini is supervisor of the person responsible for the brainwashing sessions. She has published several articles slandering Falun Dafa, deprived practitioners' of their freedom, forced the practitioners' relatives to pressure the practitioners to give up the practice, threatened to fire practitioners and their relatives from their jobs and used various methods to persecute practitioners during their detention.
Responsible people in Dazhou City: Party Committee Secretary Yan Yonghe, Party Committee Vice Secretary Zhang Gemin, Mayor Li Xiangzhi, Party Committee Vice Secretary Chen Sihua, Party Secretary of the Politics and Law Committee Deng Guangde and the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of the Party, the judiciary and all other political systems]. Director Zhang Weini, Police Department Director Wei Changping, Security Squad Chief Song Qiang, and Political Commissar of Security Squad Liang Jinzhong.
(Clearwisdom.net) After two years of hearings, the lawsuit against Les Presses Chinoises, has now entered the final trial. Since November 10 when the trial began, I have developed the following thoughts after sharing experiences with fellow practitioners.
1. Audience, Format and Purpose of Our Truth-clarification in the Courtroom
In the courtroom, except for Dafa disciples and our lawyer, the judge and staff members of the court probably do not know the truth about Falun Gong. As for the defendant and his lawyer, there is no such issue as to whether or not they know the truth of Falun Gong. As a matter of fact, they know the truth full well, because they have had a lot of contact with Dafa books, truth-clarification materials and Dafa disciples before the final trial.
According to the requirements of law, witnesses are only allowed to recount their personal experiences that are relevant to the lawsuit, so as to provide evidence for the judgment. As witnesses, what we Dafa disciples say is part of the truth of Dafa; however, we cannot clarify the truth as we usually do outside of the courtroom. In fact, we are clarifying the truth in a special setting of the courtroom. If we cannot follow the requirements of the court, we may undermine the effect of clarifying the truth.
As for the audience in the courtroom, it is their responsibility to position themselves well after listening to Dafa disciples' truth clarification. Dafa disciples should not become attached to the outcome of the truth-clarification. With regard to the defendant and his lawyer, we cannot treat them the same as other sentient beings. They are, in fact, part of the arrangements made by the old forces in a remote age. We should treat the good side of people with compassion; however, we must firmly eliminate the evil that damages humankind. We should eliminate the evil in other dimensions behind the persecution with our righteous thoughts, not mingling any human notion that is developed due to our lack of understanding of the old forces.
2. The State of Mind while Testifying in the Courtroom
What we testify to in the courtroom is the wonderfulness of Dafa, and the crimes of the evil. We had never thought of the possibility of being questioned by the defendant's lawyer. We may feel very uncomfortable when being questioned, however, this is just the manifestation on the surface and we should not be perplexed and forget who is the leading actor in this stage of Fa-rectification.
As I understand it, each time when we are questioned by the defendant's lawyer, we can actually treat it as if the lawyer were inquiring about the truth of Dafa, and we can then take this opportunity to validate Dafa.
During the court session, the defendant's lawyer often cites passages of Teacher's lectures out of context, the intention of which is very obvious. However, if we discard our human notions, and view everything using our deep understanding of Dafa, the indestructible aspect of Dafa will manifest itself. As a matter of fact, some of our practitioner witnesses have shown that Dafa is indestructible. We can see that our elevation in the understanding of the Fa can eliminate the factors that slander Dafa, and effectively eradicate evil beings in other dimensions that are controlling human beings.
Dafa is all encompassing. We can explain the Fa coherently in the human world. Dafa is taught by Teacher and all Dafa books are publicly available. People can download all materials from the Internet for free. In other words, there is nothing to hide in Dafa. Anyone who wants to learn Dafa can read Dafa books themselves. However, many of the contents would be difficult for non-practitioners at first glance, just as an elementary school student cannot understand the contents of a molecular biology textbook. If a child dislikes the subject because of its complexity, then as a mature biologist, he should use language understandable to the child and help the child to gain a better understanding of the subject. However, if the child wants to know about the subject, he would have to spend time doing careful study in the future. When we clarify the truth, we are doing a similar thing as that biologist; that is, we want to make sure our audience can understand us. Of course, if our audience slanders Dafa just because they cannot understand the contents of Dafa, we should solemnly stop them. Preventing them from slandering Dafa is to safeguard Dafa, and at the same time, to do good to them so they would not accumulate karma.
3. Do Not Develop the Attachment of Zealotry
Many Dafa disciples have testified in the courtroom for several days in a row. Over 200 Dafa disciples sent forth righteous thoughts outside the courtroom. The results have been very good. The judge got to know more and more of the truth and the questions of the defendant's lawyers carry less and less weight. However, these results cannot become excuses for us to lower our guard. We are here to validate Dafa, and we cannot place any hope on the evil that damages Dafa, nor can we rely on everyday people to give us substantial help.
It is true that the judge knows a lot of the truth now. However, in such a short span of time, the depth of the truth she knows is very limited. What decision she will make depends on her personal choices, but whether or not Dafa disciples can do well will play a significant role.
4. The Closer to the End of the Trial, The More Persistent We Should Be
The defendant hasn't shown up in the courtroom to testify yet. After he testifies, the lawyers on both sides will make closing statements in the courtroom. Then the court will make a decision based on evidence and arguments made by each side.
When the defendant comes to testify, according to the law, he will answer questions under the direction of his lawyer. Based on what he has done to Falun Gong, we can imagine what he will say. The questions our lawyer plans to ask him will provide important evidence, and will be an opportunity to expose the facts of how the defendant has been slandering Dafa and stirring up hatred towards Falun Gong. However, we should be clearheaded that we cannot just rely on our lawyer to do all of this well. Even though our lawyer has a very good understanding of the truth, it is our righteous thoughts and righteous actions that will determine the effect of our lawyer's questioning of the defendants.
What is more important is the debate period. On the surface, it would appear to be just debate between two lawyers. In fact, it is a battle between righteousness and evil. If we want to turn this process into one in which we can eliminate the evil and save sentient beings, we must clarify the truth and eliminate the evil inside and outside the courtroom in a more comprehensive manner. Only Dafa disciples can determine the outcome.
We should not be attached to the outcome. However, we cannot go to the other extreme, being attached to the mentality that we should not be attached to the outcome. We know what a good outcome will mean to the salvation of sentient beings.

(Clearwisdom.net) For a long period of time, through sharing experiences with other practitioners, I discovered an incorrect notion that exposing the evil on a website was adequate enough to stop them. But in reality, those evil ones will continue to do evil deeds. Why? If a person commits a vicious crime in China and we expose him overseas, still, few people in China will know what he has done, and therefore no one will stop him.
Exposing them only on Minghui is far from adequate; what we need to do is expose the evildoers in their immediate area. This is the most effective way to expose and eliminate the evil. Exposing the detailed crimes where they took place and the neighborhood work units will create a restraining effect and thus reduce the losses of Dafa practitioners from being persecuted.
Amidst the conditions brought about by greater cosmic changes, the Fa-rectification is marching forward to reach the surface of the human dimension. It requires the efforts of every practitioner to expose the evil and the crimes they have committed to the local general public, as what they fear most is being exposed.
Teacher told us in "Falun Buddha Fa Lecture at the Conference in Europe," "In order for anything to have a foothold in this world, to be able to hold up, and establish itself, there has to be a key factor: It has to form a field in this dimension, a field that's of material existence." Therefore, we, the Mainland Chinese practitioners, need to be aware that as we expose the evil, we cannot depend only on overseas practitioners to clarify the truth over the phone. Although clarifying the truth over the phone has achieved a great result, we Mainland Chinese must take the main efforts in exposing the evil, since the main body of Dafa practitioners is in China. We'll right all the wrong factors, and eliminate the climate of lies the evil depends on for its existence.
The above are some of my thoughts; please kindly correct any inadequacy.

"If Everybody Practiced Falun Gong, People Would Not Need To Lock Their Doors While Sleeping At Night."
Dafa practitioner Bingjie went to a garage to fix her motorcycle. The manager of a local bathhouse was also there. He greeted Bingjie and told the surrounding people, "She is a Falun Gong practitioner. Falun Gong practitioners are all good people." He continued on talking about facts about Falun Gong. After a while, people said, "After listening to your conversation, we now understand that if everybody practiced Falun Gong, people would not need to lock their doors while sleeping at night."
"...I would not defraud anyone since I am a Falun Gong practitioner."
A Falun Dafa practitioner Bingjie unknowingly received a counterfeit ten-Yuan bill while she was shopping. When she went to spend the bill she received, she was told by a different vendor that it was a fake bill. She instantly tore this fake ten-Yuan bill into pieces in the presence of all and said, "Another person has defrauded me but I would not defraud anyone since I am a Falun Gong practitioner."
A Practitioner's Husband, "I Am Really Convinced by the Teacher Of Falun Dafa."
There was a Dafa practitioner whose husband didn't practice Dafa but admired Falun Gong from the bottom of his heart. He told his friends, "It is truly admirable! A single book Zhuan Falun could have so many followers both in China and overseas. Although she has never seen her Teacher, my wife has already gone to Beijing several times to validate the Fa and spread flyers. How about those who have seen their Teacher? I am really convinced."
The Whole Village Was Bustling With Excitement, "Falun Gong Practitioners Are So Great!"
In a certain village located in Southwestern Shandong Province, a small public path was to be built. The village leaders decided to hire people inside the village to do it. However, villagers didn't want to do it since they considered the payment to be too low. A practitioner went to the leaders on her own initiative to ask for the task to be given to her family. Someone then asked, "How much money would you like to ask for?" She said, "I would not ask for a single penny. All my family members practice Falun Gong and our Teacher taught us 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance', and to always think about other people." Several days later, she, together with her husband, three sons and one daughter, finished that small public path by working hard from the early morning through the late evening. The whole village was bustling with excitement. Some people said, "Falun Gong practitioners are so great!"

On November 18, 2003, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed that the Japanese government treats Yoko Kaneko the same as other Japanese citizens.

The report said, Yoko Kaneko's husband, Atsushi Kaneko, had requested the Foreign Affairs Department to help rescue his wife on the basis that his wife has residency in Japan.
Atsushi Kaneko said that there have been numerous cases where practitioners are not released even after their terms expire.
Falun Gong practitioners in Japan and Yoko's husband Atsushi Kaneko, strongly requested the Chinese government to immediately release Yoko Kaneko and have her return to Japan to reunite with her family.
(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, one by one, the evil deeds of the Shanghai State Security agents have been exposed overseas. First, they gave Taiwanese Falun Dafa practitioners illegally detained in China an ultimatum; either they had to give up their faith and become spies, or they would be subjected to all kinds coercive methods. After the Lin Hsiao-kai and Wang Xiuhua (1) incidents, Ms. Li Qian, a woman from mainland China, has been added to the list of Falun Dafa practitioners being directly persecuted by the Shanghai State Security Agents. In fact, through its treatment of Lin Hsiao-kai, the nature of the "610 Office"(2) was again exposed to the international community. The "610 Office's" creation of terror in the lives of Falun Gong practitioners and carrying out of mental torture, helped raised a wave of support for Falun Gong in Taiwan(3). Let us think about what kinds of "benefits" the Shanghai State Security agents would receive from persecuting Li Qian?
The List of Persecuted Falun Dafa Practitioners Who Have Overseas Relatives Has More Names
Following the unlawful arrest of Taiwan Falun Dafa practitioners Lin Hsiao-kai and Wang Xiuhua, Shanghai State Security agents arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Li Qian. A Clearwisdom reporter interviewed American citizen Mei Shengyang. Mei Shengyang, from Utah, said that recently, he had suddenly lost contact with his girlfriend Li Qian. Through multiple investigations, he found out that Li Qian was arrested from her residence in Pudong District, Shanghai City on November 1, 2003 by both Shanghai and Suzhou City State Security agents. It is evident that Li Qian is currently being detained by the Shanghai State Security Agency.
Mei Shengyang said that Li Qian was temporarily living in Shanghai in order to apply for a visa to the U.S. There could be two reasons why Li was arrested. First, the phone where Li lives was tapped by Shanghai State Security. Second, an agent found her phone number through other arrested Falun Dafa practitioners' cell phone logs.
It has been reported that after being arrested, Li Qian was interrogated overnight.
Li Qian is 22 years old. She graduated from the Nanjing Aerospace University, majoring in Business Management. She has been practicing Falun Dafa since high school. Her mother is also a Falun Dafa practitioner, and was unlawfully arrested two years ago because she refused to give up her faith. She is being jailed in the Longquanyi Women's Labor Camp in Sichuan Province.
Shanghai State Security Agents Use Mental Torture to Induce Terror
Before Li Qian, Taiwanese Falun Dafa practitioners Wang Xiuhua and Lin Hsiao-kai went through illegal detention and mental torture individually in January and October, respectively, and were rescued and brought back to Taiwan. The physical and mental torture they endured were exposed in detail. Lin Hsiao-kai said at a press conference at the Legislative Committee Meeting on October 29, that Shanghai State Security had mistreated him with mental torture and threats, the likes of which are "unknown to the public." They tried to make him believe that mainland China State Security agents are all over Taiwan, and can do whatever they want.
Experts believe this kind of "terror education" used by Shanghai State Security Agents provides some true or fabricated information to detained persons, in order to make people who go through this kind of "terror" not trust any of the people that are close him or her, and live in terror from that moment on, in a state of constant anxiety. This is a typical mind game used to induce mental control.
Without Any Skin, Hair Has Nothing to Attach To
The Shanghai State Security Agents have been persecuting Falun Gong according to orders from Jiang. The agency has dared to take a leading role in the persecution, acting very foolishly and recklessly.
Ever since 1999, when Jiang commanded, "Eliminate Falun Gong in 3 months," he has been doomed to failure. In the past four years, Jiang has walked step by step towards his own failure.
There are many facts supporting this point. For instance, Jiang and his "610 Office" declared repeatedly that the "reform" rate of Falun Dafa practitioners is 98% to 100%. Is this true? The government of Jilin Province actively conducted the persecution by using all sorts of methods to reform Dafa practitioners, which resulted in a death toll that was the second highest in the nation. Recently, the Jilin government passed down a secret document from "upper levels," requesting that each area reach a 50-70% rate of reforming Falun Gong practitioners before the end of 2003, and reach a 95% rate by 2005. If employers could not reach this rate, they sent practitioners to brainwashing classes. From this secret order, we can conclude that the 98% reform rate was completely false. Forced reform was Jiang's only "hope."
In such a severe environment over the past four years, not only has the truth of the persecution been spreading all over the country, but Falun Gong flyers and VCDs are widely distributed among the people. Also, Falun Gong has established a good reputation overseas from its peaceful resistance to the persecution. Falun Dafa is welcomed in over 50 countries worldwide.
It is not hard to predict what will happen. No matter how many plans are made by the "610 Office" to "reform Falun Dafa practitioners thoroughly," they will end up like Jiang's "Eliminate Falun Gong in 3 months."
Out of personal jealousy and thirst for power, Jiang single-handedly initiated this persecution of Falun Gong as a political campaign. He has been sued overseas multiple times for this reason, and faces charges put forth by the "Global Organization to Bring Jiang to Justice" and by the court of conscience in the hearts of the world's people. In 12 countries, Jiang is being sued for genocide and crimes against humanity. For this reason, Jiang cannot enjoy his huge family wealth that his son has amassed, and he cannot leave the country for leisure. He had to hide everywhere when he went abroad in order to avoid seeing and being questioned by Falun Dafa practitioners. The "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" declared that its mission is to "Investigate all crimes, relevant structures, organizations, and individuals," "no matter how far away, how long a time it takes, the search must be continued until the end." Justice is watching. Jiang can never escape responsibility for persecuting Falun Gong, and punishment by history.
The Chinese have an ancient saying, "Without any skin, hair has nothing to attach to." Jiang cannot even save himself; how can he save his followers?
There is plenty of information that has been collected inside the Shanghai State Security Agency. Why not do some investigation and collect some information about Luo Gan and Li Lanqing, and see how they made it through these past four years by actively following the orders of Jiang?
Doing Bad Deeds Will Only Harm the Person Doing Them
Looking at the Shanghai State Security Agents' active adherence to Jiang's whims helps us remember Mr. Li Hongzhi's poem, "How much longer can the evil run rampant? Every being's volition is fully revealed ( "Rectifying the Colossal Firmament" in Essentials for Further Advancement II). Some facts about the Beijing police in recent history may be foreshadowing the way the Shanghai State Security Agents will turn out in the near future.
According to internal documents, after the "gang of four" in 1976, there was an investigation. Before this investigation started, on May 19, 1977, the Chief of Beijing Police (under martial law) Liu Chuanxin, committed suicide, because he knew his eventual fate.
It was clear that the investigation was aiming at "three kinds" of people who persecuted innocent people. They arrested 17 typical offenders, who were all police in detention centers or conducted the interrogations that resulted in deaths. Facing the truth, "following orders" could not be used as an excuse to escape their crimes.
Those 17 were executed without open legal procedures, and by following the Communist tradition, "if you violate the law knowingly, you can be processed without any rules." There was no propaganda issued about them. We heard that the government only told their family members that they "died while on duty." Only those who were part of the inner circle knew what really happened.
In November 1977, the State Department and Central Military Committee sent out a notice that 793 Army Control Officers who remained from the Cultural Revolution withdrew from the Beijing City Police System. Those army men who killed did not escape punishment either. There was a security overhaul inside the army, and they secretly executed these soldiers in Yunnan Province, and notified their families that they "died while on duty" as well.
Looking at history's past and present, which dictator who tortured innocent people could escape punishment from history?
Hence, isn't the role played by the Shanghai State Security Agents in this persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners more brutal than the Cultural Revolution? What else would the Shanghai State Security Agents like to accomplish? How will those involved meet their end?

(Clearwisdom.net) In the afternoon of November 26, 2003 at 1 pm, the Global Coalition to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice held a rally outside the Hague International Court. The coalition submitted printed materials about the lawsuit against Jiang from different countries to the first judge of the International Court and requested to try Jiang. The attendees came from Holland, Switzerland, Germany and Israel. This is the sixth public rally organized by Global Coalition following similar rallies in Paris, Munich, Frankfort, Cologne, and Berlin.
Resident of Holland Ms. Xianghe Wang told the audience about the persecution her family has suffered in China because five members of her family practice Falun Gong. Jiang's regime has committed genocide, crimes against humanity, and torture, and violated the basic human rights of Falun Gong practitioners. Five of her family members were illegally detained, including her 80-year-old mother and teenage niece.
Staff from the International Court saw the evidence displayed at the rally, including pictures depicting the torture.
Some Chinese tourist groups passed by from time to time. They were very surprised to see the crimes happening in China that are being covered up by Jiang's regime. Some took the photos to bring home.
(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of Monday November the 24th 2003, about five hundred Falun Gong practitioners from countries all over Europe gathered in front of the famous Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The morning was dark and overcast to begin with, and the air felt a little thick and heavy. Practitioners began to practice the Falun Gong exercises and hold banners and placards, whilst many others handed out materials to passing tourists and locals. Many Chinese tour groups arrived during the course of the morning. Their original intention was of course to see the Brandenburg Gate. But they saw another attraction, the sight of several hundred Falun Gong practitioners moving in harmony as they practiced the gentle and beautiful movements, or sitting peacefully in meditation, surrounded by banners, which condemned the persecution of Falun Gong. Many Chinese were clearly very surprised to see this scene, and many of them accepted materials from the practitioners.
As the morning progressed, with practitioners continuously practicing the exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts, the sun began to break through the clouds, until by the end of the morning, the sky was mostly blue, and the air felt lighter and clearer. The subtle light of the winter sun illuminated banners and the Brandenburg Gate in a beautifully refined way.
This activity was to draw attention to the persecution of Falun Gong in China, and was part of a series of activities coinciding with the launch of a lawsuit in Germany charging Jiang Zemin with genocide, crimes against humanity and torture, as well as dangerous bodily harm to Falun Gong practitioners in China. After the practitioners had finished the exercises, they sat or stood quietly, as various speakers took part in a rally with the theme of bringing Jiang to justice. Speaking over a public address system, the voices of the speakers resounded around the square carrying their strong and clear message. After a practitioner had given an account of the crimes of Jiang Zemin and the worldwide efforts to bring him to justice through many lawsuits, Mr. Zhao Ming, a post-graduate student in Ireland, gave a speech. One of the plaintiffs in some of the many lawsuits filed against Jiang around the world, Zhao Ming described his experiences of being tortured and detained in labor camps and detention centers for nearly two years in China. As he spoke, he put his experiences in the context of a genocide which has resulted from the orders of the highest authorities in China, and which has been carried out against the will of the people and the government at the hands of Jiang and his senior aides. Ms Zhang Cuiying, a Chinese artist who is also a plaintiff in several lawsuits, described her experiences during 8 months of detention in China at the hands of the Jiang regime. The final speaker was the European representative of the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, who catalogued the evidence of Jiang's crimes against Falun Gong.

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 17, a drizzling day in Manchester, David Bowie's band began a concert tour in the UK by giving its first performance in Manchester in the evening. Though being travel worn, Sterling Campbell, the highly regarded drummer for the band, made the Chinese Consulate in Manchester his first stop. In addition to music, his faith in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" has been held dearly in Sterling's heart for five years. He took the opportunity of this concert tour to deliver his peaceful appeal for the persecuted Falun Gong practitioners to Chinese consulates in all of the cities on his itinerary.
Sterling visited China more than a year ago. Like his fellow western Falun Gong practitioners who have been to China, his wish was to call for Jiang's regime to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and to release all the detained practitioners. In China, his peaceful appeal was answered by the police with a beating. He witnessed how policemen knocked down a Chinese girl, beat her, kicked her, dragged her and threw her into a police car. Recalling what he saw, Sterling said, "I can hardly describe my feelings at that time."
Ever since this trip, Sterling has an additional agenda during concert tours -- to tell fans and friends all over the world about his personal experience of the inhumane persecution of Falun Gong in China, and to call for people's attention and help to stop it.
Seventy-one-year-old Terence lives in Manchester. He used to be bed-ridden a few years ago. It was his cultivation of Falun Gong that rejuvenated him and made it possible for him to travel with a sleeping bag like a young man. He spreads the goodness of Falun Dafa and exposes the persecution by Jiang's regime. On mornings of weekdays, he sets up display boards in front of the Chinese Consulate and clarifies the truth about Falun Gong to passersby and those coming to the consulate.
Invited by the local newspaper's photographers, Sterling, Terence and another western practitioner, Elizabeth, did the exercises in front of the Chinese Consulate. A staff member of the consulate came out to stop them, claiming that it was the consulate's territory, that they weren't allowed to stay and do exercises, and even threatened to call the police. The shocked photographers asked him what was wrong with Falun Gong practitioners' legal practice. The practitioners clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the consulate personnel, who quickly retreated to the consulate when a photographer from NTD TV arrived.
After appealing at the Chinese Consulate and interviewing with local media, Sterling went to his first concert in the UK that evening. As the only two organizations invited to set up exhibits, Friends of Falun Gong and Amnesty International had display tables in the concert hall. Before the concert started, people entered the hall in a steady stream. Many of them stopped to see the posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. They got flyers and signed the signature collection sheet to rescue Falun Gong practitioners' family members. Many people were shocked to learn about the persecution and Sterling's experience in Beijing. They believed that the persecution would end soon and wished Falun Gong practitioners good luck.
Many local media, including the Manchester Evening, the largest newspaper in Northwest England, interviewed Sterling and other Falun Gong practitioners in front of the Chinese Consulate in the rain. Manchester Evening reported this activity in the next day's issue.
(Clearwisdom.net) On November 22, 2003, an annual Christmas parade was held at Banff, a famous tourist attraction in Canada to greet the coming of Christmas.
Banff is located at the center of the famous Banff National Park, east of the Rocky Mountains, 130 km from Calgary. Banff is not only famous for its chains of mountains and steep hills, but also for having the second biggest ski resort in the world. This year, the Banff Christmas Parade attracted many citizens who came quite early to wait on Big Horn Street in downtown Banff, disregarding the freezing weather.
At noon, when the parade entered the downtown, the spectators welcomed them with warm applause.
In the parade, some people drove carriages and distributed candy and oranges to residents along the road, some sang Christmas carols, and some rode on sleighs. When the Falun Dafa procession appeared, the spectators gave them warm applause and acclamations. A few westerners greeted in Chinese, "How are you!" When practitioners in the procession passed out flyers, the residents happily accepted them and thanked the practitioners.
After the parade finished, the Falun Gong group composed of 20 practitioners from Edmonton and Calgary came to the famous shopping center Cascade Plaza in Banff to introduce Falun Gong to the residents. The manager gave the practitioners great support. After a short break, the practitioners unfurled a Falun Dafa banner and set up some photo boards in a space near the elevator on the first floor. They then began demonstrating the Falun Gong exercises and handed out flyers. They also gave colorful balloons to local children. For three hours, many passersby by showed great interest and stopped to watch the practitioners' performance.
A resident of Chinese descent learned about Falun Gong and followed the practitioners to practice the exercises. He repeatedly said, "So relaxing!" A western man talked with a practitioner about Falun Gong in Chinese. Another older western woman was surprised and moved when a practitioner offered to mail her a copy of Zhuan Falun free of charge.

Facts of the Persecution
According to a reliable news source from Dabei, Shenyang City, Dafa practitioners Liu Yantao and Peng Geng in Shenyang City are currently at the brink of death. Practitioner Liu Yantao has received notice from the hospital that he is dying. The hospital and the Tiexi Detention Center both deny responsibility and refuse to release him. We hope fellow practitioners will spread the news and notify his family, so they can go to the hospital and ask for him. It was also learned that these two practitioners would be transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on November 20, 2003.
Jia Weijun, the head of Group Four in the Fuyu Labor Camp in Qiqihar City frantically persecutes Dafa practitioners. He starves the practitioners, does not allow them to sleep or use the restroom at night, and shocks practitioners with electric batons whenever he desires. He also orders inmates to beat the practitioners. On June 19, 2001, Dafa practitioners Zhang Xiaochun, Wang Baoxian, Ma Yong, and Pan Benyu in Heilongjiang Province were transferred from Fuyu Labor Camp to Fuyu Detention Center, where they were illegally held for one year. In 2002 Zhang Xiaochun died from force-feeding, and Wang Baoxian died from severe beatings.
On October 24, Dafa practitioner Jin Xuezhe from Changchun City was secretly sentenced to 10 years in prison at the Changchun City Intermediate People's Court for delivering truth clarifying flyers. The court didn't notify any of Jin Xuezhe's family members. Jin Xuezhe has appealed to the Changchun City High People's Court.
Cao Zhixia is the Party Secretary of the Handan City Political and Judiciary Committee and an official of the "610 Office."* She has acted viciously after taking these two positions and has exhausted all means and methods to persecute Dafa practitioners. She held continuous brainwashing classes. Cao ordered her subordinates to abduct Dafa practitioners and send them to brainwashing classes to be persecuted. Some practitioners used powerful righteous thoughts to break out of the detention center. Cao Zhixia was exasperated and spouted loud verbal abuses. She ordered the guards to put up security brackets over all doors and windows and threatened, "Whoever refuses to reform, don't think about walking out of here."
The perpetrators at Zhangshi Labor Camp in Shenyang City ruthlessly torture Dafa practitioners. They force the practitioners to squat for long periods of time, don't allow the practitioners to sleep, and force them to cross their legs for very long periods of time. If the practitioners don't cooperate, they tie up the practitioners' hands and feet and they shove the book Zhuan Falun into the practitioners' underpants. Dafa practitioner Yu Jiangxing from Shenyang City was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor for posting truth clarification materials, and was detained at the Zhangshi Labor Camp. He was not released two years later; his term was illegally extended by half a year, and six months later he was still not released. Yu Jiangxing firmly protested the illegal detention, and the perpetrators sent him to a "help reform group" for one month in an attempt to brainwash him, but the plan failed because Yu Jiangxing firmly resisted. In spring 2003, Yu Jiangxing was unconditionally released. Dafa practitioner Li Manxin was detained at Zhangshi Labor Camp. His detention was illegally extended after his term expired in September 2003.
Dafa practitioner Li Xiumin from Shijiazhuang City was illegally sent to forced labor for persisting in Dafa practice. After three years of torture at the Shijiazhuang Labor Camp, she still firmly believed in Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. Half a year after Li Xiumin was released from the labor camp, on November 14, 2003, police officers from Shijiazhuang City Police Department abducted her once again. She escaped from police custody on the same day but was forced to leave home to avoid illegal arrest.
Jin Shuyuan, head of the 304 Institute of Beijing Aerospace Administration, and Party Secretary Cao Yingjie went along with all orders from Jiang's evildoing cohorts to persecute Dafa practitioners. In late December 1999 they sent several Dafa practitioners, employees of the Institute, to a detention center and detained them there for 25 days because they had gone to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. They also illegally cancelled retired Dafa practitioners' pensions and allotted them only 200 Yuan** per month. They fired all Dafa practitioners working there. In 2001, they conspired with the "610 Office" to abduct several retired Dafa practitioners and sent them to a brainwashing class. One retired practitioner persisted in cultivation and left home to avoid illegal arrest. The perpetrators not only cancelled his entire pension, they also harassed and intimidated his family.
News from China
On November 17, 2003, five Dafa practitioners, Zhu Mingchun, Zhu Zhaojie, Que Faxiu, Liu Kunwu (Liu Longyun), and Guo Guangxiu, who had been illegally detained at Miyi Detention Center for more than one year, were illegally tried in court. The practitioners attempted to speak the truth, but the judge forbade it. Local practitioners went to the court to send forth righteous thoughts.
Recently, three journalists have been committing fraud in Hebei and Shandong Provinces. They falsely claimed they were investigating the local situation of Falun Gong according to orders from their superiors, and that they had evidence against the local government. They extorted more than one million Yuan from the local governments. These journalists have been arrested and sent to Ningjin County Detention Center in Shandong Province. It was learned that these three suspects are indeed journalists working for a newspaper in Beijing, but the newspaper agency did not give them an assignment to investigate the persecution of Falun Gong. Every time they arrived at a county or city, they looked for banners that read, "Falun Dafa is good," and "Truth-Compassion-Tolerance is good." Then they took pictures of the banners and used them to extort money from the local "610 Office." After they left, the "610 Office" criminals vented their anger on practitioners by frantically persecuting them. The large-scale arrest that took place recently in Wuqiao and Cangzhou in Hebei Province is related to these journalists' activities.

Seven members of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Institute filed a lawsuit at the Taiwan High Court on Nov. 17 accusing former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, former Chinese vice premier Li Lanqing and Chinese Communist Party Politburo member Luo Gan of committing genocide.
This is the first time that Taiwanese people have invoked the genocide statute, which was put in place in 1953 in accordance with the UN's 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
We have four statements to make regarding this lawsuit.
First, we demand that justice be served to safeguard basic human rights and freedom.
Falun Gong pursues no political ends and its practitioners do not harbor any political interests. We are following a judicial path to safeguard humanity's basic rights to free spiritual expression, free speech and individual liberty. We hope for a fair trial that will encourage the basic values of justice and goodness.
Second, violators of human rights should be punished by law so that international justice can be realized.
The Falun Gong is a group that cultivates the heart and the mind through exercise and meditation. It does not oppose any political regime. China's suppression of Falun Gong is motivated purely by Jiang's self-interest. Since July 1999, and with the assistance of Li, Luo and hundreds of government agencies, Jiang has arbitrarily threatened political groups, schools and business entities all around China to misrepresent the pure, good and peaceful Falun Gong as an illegal religious sect and target it for political struggle.
Using the media, the Beijing government has planted false evidence, slandered the group and stirred up public hatred toward Falun Gong. They have also brainwashed, tortured and killed Falun Gong practitioners. Such vicious and terrifying means of persecution are quite simply beyond the imagination of Taiwanese people living in a society that upholds freedom and the rule of law. These atrocities, stretching over more than four years, have deprived millions of Chinese Falun Gong practitioners of their freedom of religion and basic human rights. The atrocities have even occurred outside China. After lengthy investigation by international human rights organizations, including the UN Commission on Human Rights, irrefutable proof of this has been collected. Amnesty International named Jiang one of its "Human Rights Scoundrels" of the year 2000. Over the past four years, governments around the world have issued more than 130 statements condemning China's persecution. The persecution that Jiang's system has inflicted on Falun Gong practitioners has become a focus of world attention.
Third, Jiang's brutality has violated Taiwanese people's rights and must be stopped.
The fact that some Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners suffered persecution proves that the Jiang regime's atrocities have encroached on Taiwan's territory.
Over the past four years, Taiwanese practitioners have been illegally detained, mistreated and forced to give testimony while in China. When they attended officially approved activities in Hong Kong and Iceland, they were illegally detained and repatriated, and harmed financially, psychologically and physically for no reason.
Even the livelihood of the residents of Matsu has been threatened because of China's brutal repression of Falun Gong. Several Chinese women married to Taiwanese men have been secretly detained and questioned after returning to China and then charged, jailed or forced to leave home.
The safety and privacy of Taiwanese people are now controlled by China. How can the Taiwanese public allow its good and honest people to live under the shadow of Jiang's conspiracies and threats?
Fourth, we call on Taiwan's courts to try the case fairly and we call on the public to view the matter conscientiously.
The seven plaintiffs are not the only victims. All Falun Gong practitioners are victims. In fact, everyone is a victim. The Jiang regime deceived China and the rest of the world with blatant lies. Yet some people failed to see the truth, and they too harbored hatred toward Falun Gong and even participated in these crimes.
The Jiang regime has fabricated data to cover up a weak Chinese economy. It has lured international investors into providing capital for their suppression of justice. Many governments have been blinded by China's economic illusion and have sacrificed their own traditions of human rights and protecting their peoples.
A famous quote in the 1980 US human rights case Filartiga versus Pena-Irala said that whoever adopts torture is the enemy of humanity. Now, in addition to the lawsuit filed in Taiwan against Jiang, Li and Luo, human rights lawyers from around the world have joined hands to help persecuted Falun Gong practitioners sue Jiang and other Chinese officials who joined with him in committing crimes.
Since October last year, plaintiffs in the US, Belgium, Spain and other nations have lodged charges of genocide, torture and crimes against humanity. Plaintiffs in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Germany and Ireland are also planning to follow suit.
Our government has pledged to make Taiwan a human rights-oriented nation. Amid the international wave of support for a public trial of Jiang, we declare that he and other human-rights scoundrels will be brought to justice in Taiwan so that justice can be safeguarded for all. We also call on everyone in Taiwan, China and the rest of the world to try these public enemies in the court of their own consciences.
If all the righteous people of the world can condemn these atrocities with one voice, the worst human rights tragedy within Chinese society in the 21st century can be stopped. Then Falun Gong practitioners, who believe in "truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance," can enjoy freedom, innocent Taiwanese will no longer be threatened by China's persecution of human rights and the light of truth, goodness and justice will shine in every corner of the world.

The
European Union has opened human rights talks with China, with torture, the death
penalty and political prisoners on the agenda, sources close to the discussions
said.
The bi-annual talks will push for more openness from Beijing. The 15-country EU -- set to expand to 25 members next year -- has voiced "deep concern" in the past over China's rights record.
In a 20-page report last month, Amnesty International detailed hundreds of thousands of people detained, executions carried out after unfair trials and widespread torture and ill-treatment.
The EU has also identified Tibet, the Muslim-majority region of Xinjiang and the Falun Gong spiritual movement as areas of concern.
"Some of the issues on the agenda will be torture, the death penalty and the ratification of the UN covenant on political rights," said a European diplomat familiar with the discussions.
"We have this dialogue and we both talk about issues of importance to each other. We constantly remind them that we want to see more results and more openness."

1. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] Dafa Practitioner Mr. Pan Jianjun is Nearly Cremated Alive by Prison Authorities
Dafa practitioners Yang Xiaofei, Ms. Xiang Zaoxia, Ms. Zheng Hongxia, Li Shirong, Mr. Chen Kaimin and Mr. Pan Jianjun from Huaihua City, Hunan Province, were sentenced from 7 to 11 years of imprisonment and have been detained almost one year. In October they went on a hunger strike for about 20 days. Later, the male practitioners were sent to the Jinshi City Prison in the Changde area. The female practitioners were sent to Changsha City's Women's Prison.
Dafa practitioner Mr. Pan Jianjun was in a coma when he arrived at the prison. When the prison authorities attempted to cremate him, he regained consciousness. Afterwards, they sent him to the "tightly administered group" in the No.6 Team for further persecution. His present situation is not fully known.
Policemen from the No.2 Detention and Dispatch Center in the Jinshi City Prison claim that, "We forcibly transform practitioners. We put handcuffs and shackles on every practitioner and torture those who continue practicing. We just carry out orders. We admit that we are just persecution tools. If we did not obey the orders, we could lose our jobs."
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioners are Tortured at the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center
"610 Office" * personnel from the Qixian Street Administration Office and policemen from the Qixian Police Precinct in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province forcibly put Dafa practitioners into the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center. There are about 40 so-called education collaborators in the brainwashing center who assist in persecuting Dafa practitioners. Practitioners detained there were at first forced to sit on small stools. Then the "collaborators"** encircled practitioners and defamed Dafa, quoting Dafa teachings out of context. If a practitioner started to clarify the truth, these collaborators together would verbally abuse him or her. Practitioners who go on a hunger strike for over three days would be force-fed. The brainwashing center also applies other torture methods, such as depriving practitioners of sleep, monitoring practitioners around the clock, and forcing practitioners to squat without a stool.
At present, Ms. Shi Shengying, a 63-year-old practitioner from Shenyang City's Tiexi District, and practitioner Mr. Guo Ning, a teacher at a school for the blind, have both been illegally detained at the brainwashing center and tortured.
3. [Antu City, Jilin Province] Personnel from the Dashitou Forestry Bureau Persecute Dafa Practitioners
Dafa practitioners Ms. Li Fengying and Ms. Zhang Yunfeng are employees of Antu City's Dashitou Forestry Bureau. In 2000 they were illegally sentenced to forced labor for appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing, and they have been persecuted since then. In November 2001, Li Yanbo, head of the No. 1 Farm of the Forestry Bureau, and Zhang Yonghua, the administrator, brought Li Fengying and Zhang Yufeng together and fined them 1,850 yuan each [Chinese currency. 500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China. The income is less in rural areas.]. Around August 20, 2003, Ms. Zhang was illegally detained for a second time and her situation is not fully known.
4. [Anyue County, Sichuan Province] Local National Security Bureau Enforcers Illegally Arrest Dafa Practitioner Ms. Wang Shuyi
On November 1, 2003, personnel from Anyue County's National Security Bureau arrested Ms. Wang Shuyi, a practitioner over 60 years old, from her home because police suspected her of distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. She is being illegally detained at the county's detention center.
5. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Intermediate Court Sentences Dafa Practitioners
In October 2003, Zhengzhou City's Intermediate Court sentenced several Dafa practitioners. Among them, Ma Yun was sentenced to five years of prison, Ms Yang Yufang to seven years, and Mr. Tian Haishun and Mr. Sun Haojie to ten years each.
6. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioners Including Ren Guifen and Liu Quan Are Sentenced to Long Prison Terms
Dafa practitioners Ms. Ren Guifen, Liu Quan, Zhou Zhi and a practitioner by the last name of Zhang were arrested. Recently, Pingshan District's Court secretly sentenced them. Ren Guifen and Liu Quan were sentenced to twelve years in prison, Zhou Zhi to eleven years and Zhang to seven years. Zhou Zhi has been staging a hunger strike for several months since his arrest. His life is currently in danger.
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Arrest a Dafa Practitioner from Fangzheng County
Fangzheng County Police Department personnel arrested a local Dafa practitioner for making Dafa truth-clarifying materials. The police attempted to extort money from the practitioner's family members, but they refused. Right now, the police are planning to send this practitioner to prison or to a forced labor camp.
8. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioner Dr. Bai Ling is Sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Bai Ling is a doctor from Benxi City's Contagious Diseases Hospital. She graduated from Dalian Medical University in 1999. In 2003, perpetrators from Benxi City's "610 Office" repeatedly put her into brainwashing classes. In October 2003, personnel from her work unit deceived her into going to the hospital, with the excuse that there was a seriously ill patient waiting to see her. When she got there the enforcers took her to a brainwashing class. Ms. Bai Ling maintained righteous thoughts in that class. On October 25, they sentenced her to three years of forced labor and sent her to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.
9. [Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province] Fifty Practitioners are on a Hunger Strike to Protest the Torture in the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp
It has been reported recently that more than 80 practitioners are being detained at Zhuzhou City's Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province. Fifty of those practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the torturous treatment there. The personnel from the camp singled out seven people, including Ms. Tan Anju from Zhongfang County, Huaihua City who had been detained for a second time because of mailing Dafa truth-clarifying materials to the public. They took these kind practitioners outside of the cells and hung them up with handcuffs, to intimidate other practitioners. Right now, practitioners are protesting this persecution and refusing to participate in any forced labor assignments.
10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioner Ms. Dong Mei Has been Detained in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center for over a Month
On October 8, 2003, enforcers from Dadong District's "610 Office" put Ms. Dong Mei from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province into the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center. Other practitioners have been calling the brainwashing center repeatedly to request Ms. Dong's release. However, the personnel in the brainwashing center said they were only in charge of "transformation;" whether or not to release the practitioner is decided by the "610 Office."

11. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Second-Time Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Ms. Li Cong; Her Father Mr. Li Yutong Tortured to Death
Practitioner Ms. Li Cong, from Dehui City, Jilin Province was arrested again and transported to Changchun City's Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center after her term of forced labor expired. In November 2002, officials from Dehui City's Police Department illegally sentenced Li Cong to one year of forced labor. On November 11, 2003, after her forced-labor term had been completed, policemen from the Biangang Township precinct in Dehui City arrested her and took her to the Xinglongshan Brainwashing Center located at the entrance of the No. 102 Interstate Highway in Changchun City.
Ms. Li's father, Li Yutong, also a Dafa practitioner, was tortured to death several days ago.

13. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Dafa Practitioner Mr. Yin Rongzhi Cannot Walk due to Severe Torture
Dafa practitioner Mr. Yin Rongzhi, in his 30s, a technology expert, is the director of Qinghuangdao City's Yaohua Factory Office in Hebei Province and an accomplished engineer. He has been illegally detained many times simply for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. Furthermore, he had been sent to a forced labor camp for one year. Later, Mr. Yin was again sentenced to forced labor for another three years. Due to the inhuman torture he endured in the labor camp, Mr. Yin is unable to walk on his own, and he is in critical condition.
14. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Illegal Arrest of Dafa Practitioners Ms. Zhu Xuemin and Ms. Liu Suwen
During the afternoon of October 28, 2003, when Ms. Zhu Xuemin and Ms. Liu Suwen were distributing truth-clarifying materials at the Gaowan Economic Development District in Fushun City, they were arrested and detained at Fushun City's Detention Center. On November 10, Liu Suwen was transferred to Shenyang City's Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.
15. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Abduction of Dafa Practitioner Chen Binli at the hands of Public Security Section Enforcers from the 6409 Factory; His Whereabouts are Unknown
Mr. Chen Binli was an employee of the 6409 Ordnance Factory in Fushun City, Liaoning Province. On October 29, 2003, when he was distributing truth-clarifying materials at the factory's residential area, personnel from the factory's public security section illegally arrested him. His current whereabouts are unknown. Mr. Chen had previously been sent to a forced labor camp for going to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. His company fired him and revoked his party membership. Fushun County Police Department perpetrators had illegally arrested him in March of 2003. He escaped with righteous thoughts but had to live a homeless life in order to avoid re-arrest.
16. [Shandong Province] Enforcers in the Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Company Persecute Dafa Practitioners
According to a report in the Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Newspaper dated November 5, 2003, the Anti Evil [Slanderous Term Omitted] Association of the Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Company was founded on October 31. The aim of the association is to persecute Falun Gong. Recently, the association planned to hold a brainwashing class for determined Dafa practitioners.
*"610 Office:" an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
** Collaborators are former Falun Dafa practitioners who have given up Dafa due to brainwashing and torture and are now aiding and abetting the persecutors.

Editors' Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one's own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." The universe will reward actions that are in harmony with this principle, while actions such as beating, torturing and murdering people will incur karmic retribution. Two Policemen in Leizhou City, Guangdong Province Recently Died in a Car Accident
Wu Hongzhan, a policeman of Leizhou City Police Department, was responsible for the arrest and sentencing of many Dafa practitioners to labor camps and jails. On October 1, 2003, Wu was in a car accident with the criminal police team leader Chen Zhipei. Wu and Chen died at the scene.
Officers of Chengjiao Village Government, Liaozhong County, Liaoning Province Are Arrested and Investigated for Corruption
During the past four years, several officials of the local party committee of Chengjiao village government had closely followed Jiang's directives and relentlessly persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. General Secretary Liu Weihong, Vice-General Secretary Wang Baoshen, and Village Director Zhao Guangzhuo carried out many illegal activities against practitioners such as: arrests and house searches, brainwashing sessions and sentencing to labor camps without trial. They deprived many innocent Falun Gong practitioners of their basic rights. Later these three officials were dismissed from their positions due to corruption and were detained for further investigation.
"610 office"* Director in the High Pressure Electromagnetism Factory in Tangshan City, Hebei Province is Hospitalized
The director of the"610 office" located in Tangshan City's High Pressure Electromagnetism Factory of Hebei province, often persecuted Dafa practitioners. He sent them to brainwashing classes, forced them to write pledges to no longer practice Falun Gong, withheld their wages and fined them several thousand yuan**, and suspended them from work. Shortly after committing these acts, he was involved in a car accident on September 24, 2003 and was hospitalized.
