Tens of Thousands of Yuan Extorted from an Elderly Woman for Appealing in Beijing

(Clearwisdom.net] I am an old woman and I once suffered from over twenty kinds of serious diseases such as bone marrow cancer, stomach trouble, gynecological problems and rheumatism, none of which medical treatment was able to cure. Since I started to practice Falun Gong, all of my diseases have miraculously disappeared.

But since July of 1999, Jiang has forbidden us to practice Falun Gong. But Falun Gong has saved so many people's lives! The local government told me they couldn't solve the problem, so I went to Beijing to appeal in October 1999. Because the appellate office refused to accept and hear my case, I had to go to Tiananmen Square, where I was tortured by the police. They beat me so badly that I couldn't bear it and revealed my name and address.

The local police in my hometown forced my son to go with them, at his own expense, to bring me back from their Beijing office. During the trip, they whiled away their time eating, drinking and sightseeing from place to place for pleasure. It cost my son 20,000 Yuan. After coming back, they unlawfully detained me for fifteen days and demanded that I pay 450 Yuan for "living expenses" in jail.

On June 20, 2000, several fellow practitioners and I were ready for another trip to Beijing to appeal, but some vicious people reported us to the authorities. The local police imprisoned me in a detention center for seven weeks and extorted ten thousand Yuan from me.

In July 2003, someone reported me to the police for posting truth-clarifying materials. I was fined another two thousand Yuan, which created a heavy financial and mental burden for my family. In addition, the perpetrators from the county "610 Office" were trying to take me to the provincial brainwashing center. At that time one of my legs was swollen, and I had a high fever. Because I firmly refused to cooperate with them, they gave up. Although I quickly left home, they kept harassing my family members and relatives in order to find out where I was, making me, an old woman, homeless and destitute.
