Israel: Practitioners Hold a Wide Range of Activities Prior to the Israeli President's Visit to China (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net December 12, 2003) After learning that the Israeli President, Mr. Moshe Katsav, would visit Hong Kong and China, Israeli practitioners organized a series of activities to let people learn the truth about Falun Dafa.

Between the 8th and 9th of December, practitioners gathered in front of the Presidential residence in Jerusalem. They hung various banners calling for the release of the sister of an Israeli citizen Mrs. Xiong Wei, who is currently being unlawfully detained in China. They also displayed banners calling for an end to the persecution. Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts together; they handed out flyers and clarified the facts to many people, including several Chinese people who later entered the Presidential residence. Many people approached practitioners and asked questions and some of them also signed the petition to bring Jiang Zemin to justice and to request the release of Mrs. Xiong Wei.

Practitioners celebrated Xiong Wei's 33rd birthday in front of the President's residence. This is the second birthday that she has had in the Xinan female labor camp in Daxing near Beijing, where she serving a two year sentence for clarifying the facts in China.

Journalists from Hebrew and Russian newspapers came to the activities to take pictures and interview practitioners. Practitioners also clarified the facts to them.

During these two days, practitioners were also invited to meet one of the president's advisors and the meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. The President's advisor was very supportive and encouraged practitioners to continue their activities. He mentioned that letters and materials sent by practitioners to the President allowed staff members at the President's Office to learn more about the persecution of Falun Gong in China. He also ensured practitioners that the president will study all materials sent to him.

Practitioners also held a meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with high ranking officials. This was a good chance to help them understand Falun Gong and the persecution more. During the meeting, the officials expressed a wish to have Xiong Wei released from the labor camp in China.

Several members of the Knesset (the Israeli Parliament) also sent letters to the president concerning the persecution of Falun Gong.

Israeli practitioners also arranged activities in the universities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. These activities attracted a lot of attention and many students signed petitions, asked questions and express an interest in learning the exercises.
