Canadian MP Svend Robinson Urges Minister of Foreign Affairs to Mention the Concern of Canadians Regarding the Persecution of Falun Gong to Wen Jiabao
(Clearwisdom.net) On December 10, 2003, International Human Rights Day,
Canadian Member of Parliament Svend J Robinson wrote to Bill Graham, the
Minister of Foreign Affairs, urging the Minister to mention the persecution of
Falun Gong practitioners in China to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. Svend said in the letter: "Given that tomorrow Chinese Premier Wen
Jiabao will be in Ottawa, I trust that you will use this opportunity to further
your bilateral dialogue, and I would urge you to mention specifically the
concern of Canadians regarding the on-going persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners in China." "As you rightly stated, 'International Human Rights Day is a reminder
of all the work that remains to be done to ensure that the human rights and
fundamental freedoms of all people are respected.' " "I hope that you will bear this in mind during your meetings with Mr.
Wen."
