Police Illegally Open Citizens' Letters Seeking "Evidence" For Their Conviction

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a farmer. I am a target of the Town Police Station, because I practice Falun Gong. At about 8 am on March 25, 2003, I had just arrived in my field with the police following behind me. One said: "Our leader wants to talk to you at the police station." I replied: "You see I am so busy. Please ask your leader to come here." He said: "You have to go there by yourself." I thought: "I am open and above-board, so I am not afraid of going there."

After I arrived at the police station, I answered the routine questions regarding my birthplace, age and name. After that, the person who questioned me asked me again: "Do you know why we asked you to come here?" I said: "No, what on earth is the reason?" He said: "You have relatives who live in Northern China, don't you?" I answered: "My nephew is in Pine Village near the Black River." He said: "Do you write to him?" Immediately, I realized they asked me to come, because of my letters to my nephew. I answered directly: "In the letter to my nephew, I wrote a poem in farewell banquet style. I also wrote some of my experiences in cultivating Dafa. í Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance' is the highest principle in the cosmos. I hope my nephew will calmly look at all of what happens around him and not be deceived by the fabricated news, conspired and created by Jiang."

I then frankly stated: "It is not wrong to use í Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance' as the standard of my own ethical behavior." They were unable to pose any further arguments to justify themselves. They seemed to have no choice but to tell me: "Your case is pushed by the leaders in the city. According to you attitude, we should detain you for a month." Therefore, I was forcibly detained for fifteen days, because of the so-called "crimes against public order." My home was ransacked after I was questioned. Later, I was informed it was Wang, head of the "610 Office" over the entire county, who led a team to ransack my home. (The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.)

How did the city government get my personal letters? Did the city government intercept them? Or did someone report them? The people involved in such a dirty thing dare not to frankly reveal it to the public. However, they convict people only by the letters they write and without any legal basis. How can they talk about human rights? How can it be treated as an illegal activity to express one's thoughts and beliefs in writing to relatives? As citizens, how can we live under these conditions?

I therefore call upon the international justice and human rights organizations, as well as all people with a sense of conscience, to come together to stop this persecution and defend justice throughout the world.
