Practitioner Bai Yuzhi Loses Her Sight in Both Eyes While Imprisoned in Shijiazhuang City

(Clearwisdom.net) Mrs. Bai Yuzhi, a Party representative from Jinjin County, Hebei Province, is being unjustly detained in the No. 2 prison in Shijiazhuang City. She has been subjected to extended periods of torture and has chosen to protest through hunger strike. Now she has lost sight in both eyes. The No. 2 prison refuses to release her and even forbids visitations. "Collaborators" are employed to torment Bai Yuzhi mentally [Collaborators are former Falun Gong practitioners who have turned against Dafa due to brainwashing and torture] .

Bai Yuzhi, who worked at the Industrial-Business Bank in Hebei Province, Jinjin County and Weishui town, is forty-one years old. She used to be the Party representative for Jinjin County. In 1994, Bai Yuzhi started to practice Falun Gong and benefited greatly from the practice.

Since the persecution began July 20, 1999, she has been to Beijing to appeal several times. She was unjustly detained and her house was illegally searched. At the end of 1999, she was unjustly detained in team No. 4 in Shijiazhuang City. She went on hunger strike to protest. She was then transferred secretly to the Kaiping Labor Camp in Tangshan City. Later she was sent to the Gaoyang Labor Camp in Baoding City. She continued to protest through hunger strike. Her rock-solid righteous thoughts and righteous faith towards Dafa shocked the evil beings.

By October 2000, she had been sent to several labor camps, detention centers, a mental hospital, and a detoxification center in Hebei Province, with an estimated detention time of eleven months, nine months of which she was on hunger strike. At that time, the lining in her stomach totally detached, which caused her to vomit and defecate blood, and suffer from a severe potassium deficiency along with poor vision. Her body weight dropped to only around eighty Jin (1 kg = 2 Jin). Only when her life was in great danger did the police let her family members take her home.

In January 2001, the police station in Jinjin County arrested Bai Yuzhi again and sent her to the Baoding Detention Center. Bai Yuzhi went on hunger strike for less than one month and was then released again. Since then, she has had to leave home and go from place to place to avoid arrest.

At the beginning of September 2001, Bai Yuzhi was reported on while she was distributing truth-clarifying materials at the bus station of Jinjin County, Weishui town. Later, she was beaten by the Director of the Weishui Police Substation. She lost consciousness for three days due to the beating, and woke up lying on an ice-cold cement floor, with no one caring for her. Later, she was sent to the Baoding Labor Camp, which refused to take her. Then, after hunger striking for less than ten days, she was released again.

No matter where she went, Bai Yuzhi always clarified the truth of Falun Gong to the people around her. In December 2001, while she was distributing truth-clarification VCD's, she was arrested and detained at the Shijiazhuang City Yuqiang Police Substation. Police then sent her to the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center. There she went on hunger strike for four months to protest. Finally, the policemen had to give in. For the fourth time, she overcame imprisonment.

At the end of August 2002, at Shifeng Road Provincial No.4 Construction Company Dormitory, she was arrested by police from the Shijiazhuang City Qiaoxi Police Substation. Police from the Red Flag Street Police Substation brutally beat her, almost leaving body deformed, and later transferred her to the Yuqiang Police Substation. Her body was seriously injured, and they had no place that they dared to take her, so the Yuqiang police sent her to team No. 5 of the Shijiazhuang City Labor Camp, and later transferred to the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Detention Center. This year, after she protested with hunger striking for several months, she was unjustly sentenced and imprisoned in the Shijiazhuang City No. 2 Prison by the Shijiazhuang "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.]

Bai Yuzhi, who has been persecuted so severely and has been on hunger strike for so long, has now lost vision in both of her eyes. Her feet, legs and both hands are trembling, with extreme pain. She should be released for medical care, yet the No. 2 prison forbids her family and friends from visiting and even dares to intensify the persecution, by using collaborators like Yang Jianmei to torment Bai Yuzhi mentally.
