On World Human Rights Day, Six Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Given Heavy Sentences in Lanzhou

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 10, 2003, "World Human Rights Day," Wang Wenzhong and five other Falun Dafa practitioners were sentenced to 7-10 year prison terms by the Lanzhou City Court in Gansu Province.

- Mr. Wang Wenzhong, in his 50s, is a resident of Yumen City, Gansu Province. He was sentenced to 10 years.

- Ms. Qi Lijun, age 52, is a resident of Lanzhou City. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

- Mr. Ma Yong, age 40, is a resident of Hexi County, Gansu Province. He was sentenced to nine years in prison;

- Ms. Li Kuangfeng was sentenced to seven years.

- Two other ladies (names unknown) were each sentenced to eight years in prison.

Among the above, Ms. Li Kuangfeng was abducted in January 2001. Mr. Wang Wenzhong, Ms. Qi Lijun and Mr. Ma Yong, among others, were abducted while they were making truth-clarifying materials at the beginning of May 2002. After their detention was extended for one year, the Lanzhou City Court put them on trial around July 20, 2003. They resisted the illegal trial, shouting, "Falun Dafa is good" and exposing the evil persecution. They were secretly sentenced on December 10, 2003.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yuan Jiang graduated from the Electrical Engineering Department of Qinghua University. He was the Vice Chairman of the Information Technology Engineering Company under the Gansu Province Telecommunications Bureau in the city of Lanzhou. He was arrested on August 30, 2001 around Dunhuang City, Gansu Province. After being tortured by police from Gansu Provincial Station, he died on November 9, 2001.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Xiaodong, around 30 years old, graduated from the Northeastern Mechanical Engineering Institute, and was an employee of the Gansu Provincial Aluminum Plant. He endured numerous forms of torture while detained in the Lanzhou No.1 Detention Center for two years, as punishment for clarifying the truth to people. He died on October 24, 2003. He had been sentenced to seven years in prison. He was very weak because of the endless tortures in the first two years he was there. Police had to transfer him from his prison cell to the jail clinic. On October 23, 2003, police had to send him to the Gansu Provincial Prison Hospital (Kangtai Hospital) because of his poor condition. He died there the next day, on October 24. Under strict guard by police from the Lanzhou No.1 Detention Center and City Station, his body was sent to be cremated.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Bai Sanyuan is from Jingyuan County, Gansu Province. He was sentenced to three years in prison, but appealed the sentencing. He went on hunger strike to protest the sentencing and the inhumane torture many times. He has been detained for almost three years in the Lanzhou No.1 Detention Center located in Xiguoyuan. Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Mr. Wang Yunbo, is a student of the Business Management Department at Lanzhou University. He has been sentenced to eight years in prison because he told people the facts about Falun Gong, and has been detained in the Lanzhou No.1 Detention Center for more than two years. Both of these two practitioners are very weak due to the long-term detention. They are both very thin and frail, and their lives are in danger.

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Jiang Yingdou is a retired teacher from the Sanhecun Middle School, Dongwan Township, Qingyuan County, Gansu Province. He was abducted around November 11, 2003 by the local "610 Office" and brought to the Baiyin City Brainwashing Class. He was forced to withdraw from his retirement pension 30 yuan per day for the brainwashers' "food and education" cost, which is more than his pension. He has two children who are currently college students and need his support. His wife has been left on her own. She is a farmer who has to work extremely hard at home and leads a difficult life.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liang Ailing in Lanzhou City is a handicapped person without a right hand. She was abducted at her home in April 2003, and first detained in the Xiguoyuan No.1 Detention center for several months. She was later transferred to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing class.
