(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 1999, Jiang and his followers have mobilized the police to arrest Falun Gong practitioners in China. A small, remote county like ours was not able to escape Jiang's wrath. Altogether, there are over 800 Falun Gong practitioners who were arrested, and among them there were over 50 that were sentenced to forced labor or prison.

Even now, from time to time up to a dozen practitioners are arrested together and then sent to brainwashing classes or detention centers. They are detained from a couple weeks to several months. Some are sent to forced labor camps.

During the detention, police and inmates force practitioners who are on hunger strikes to the ground, then force a thick tube up the practitioner's nose and pour in highly concentrated salt water. Other practitioners are forced into filthy waist deep water. Even menstruating female practitioners cannot escape this torture. They are forced to stay in the water for over ten hours.

Some practitioners are shackled. Police handcuff practitioners with shackles for days so that they can not stand straight. Then police make them carry 50-pound sacks of flour and force them to walk up and down the hallway. Even women in their fifties cannot escape this abuse.

Some practitioners are suspended by their handcuffed wrists. Police then shock them with electric batons for several hours over several consecutive days. Others are handcuffed and forced to hold their heads and squat on the ground. If the practitioners move even a little, police and inmates beat them. If a practitioner is beaten and loses consciousness, police pour cold water on him/her to revive them. They are forced to stay in a squatting position for several days.

In January 2003, a female Falun Gong practitioner was beaten and seriously wounded. She died the day she was sent to the hospital. When someone asked police why they don't follow the laws when treating Falun Gong practitioners, they replied that they received orders from the central government that Falun Gong is an exception.
