A Teacher at Mudanjiang Normal University and His Wife Are Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

According to our sources from the Mainland, Mr. Liu Zhiyuan, a Falun Gong practitioner who teaches at the Mudanjiang Normal University in Heilongjiang Province and his wife, Shen Chunhua, were sentenced to 10 years recently, leaving a 3-year-old boy and a baby-girl at home.

Liu Zhiyuan began practicing Falun Gong when he was studying computer science at Heilongjiang University. He was sentenced illegally to a one-year term in a forced labor camp in 2000. He was tortured until he suffered a mental collapse and could not control his speech or movements.

According to Liu Zhiyuan, he was fed some type of medicine before being released from the Labor Camp. As a result, he was no longer able to sleep at night because whenever he would fall asleep, he would see horrible images.

After he was released from the Labor Camp his condition gradually improved somewhat. The reason for his detention is still unknown, although it may be related to the production of materials that clarify the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong to the public.

According to our sources, policemen abducted many Falun Gong practitioners two months ago in Mudangjiang city.
