Bearing Witness to History: Changchun Falun Dafa Practitioners Resist the Persecution in a Detention Center

One time when we were force to do routine line formation drills, the camp guards suddenly had a strange idea. They wanted us to shout the slogan, "Hurry up and reform!" We flatly refused. The authorities arranged for us to be in one line of four people, which made us stand out if we refused to shout. The camp police were unrestrained in their brutality at that time, and if someone refused, he or she was beaten or shocked with an electric baton. The authorities thought that if they did it like this, no practitioner would dare to refuse their orders. In the first line, Liu Chengjun stood out first, and in the second line another practitioner stood out. Then it was the third line's turn, which was the line I was in. I had never experienced much physical suffering since I was young, but I thought, "I am a Dafa practitioner and I am a good person living according to the standard of 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.' How could the labor camp guards be qualified to reform us? I won't shout!" I also refused, and in the fourth line another practitioner firmly refused. Because several of us firmly disobeyed the police's orders, they not only did not do anything, but also stopped forcing us to shout this slogan during formation training.

After a while, many fellow practitioners had studied Master Li's recent articles (we still obtained them although the labor camp guards took all kinds of measures to block and search for them), and understood that we shouldn't endlessly forbear and passively endure the evil persecution, but should prevent and diminish it positively. On one occasion, a guard was going to ask a collaborator [former Falun Dafa practitioners who renounced their belief due to extreme pressure and torture and now actively persecute firm Falun Dafa practitioners] from the women's camp to give a speech, and they took all Dafa practitioners in the camp to an auditorium. In order to avoid accidents, they intentionally arranged many guards to gather at the meeting place with electric batons and handcuffs. They figured that in this way they could overwhelm those firm Dafa practitioners.

The collaborator had just spoken a few words, when Liu Chengjun stood up right away from his seat and rebuked him. When Liu Chengjun had barely finished speaking, four or five camp guards sprang on him together and wrestled him down for a beating. Then camp guards dragged him out of the auditorium, with his shouting still being heard from afar. In fact, Liu Chengjun has been very firm and his intention was to wake up the numb hearts of other fellow practitioners. Soon afterwards, several more Dafa practitioners stood up, and then were beaten and pulled out of the auditorium. The meeting place became deathly quiet, and the collaborator still continued to speak. The practitioners shouted one by one, "Shut up! Do not slander Master Li! Do not slander Falun Dafa!" Another Dafa practitioner stood up firmly, six or seven guards sprang on him and handcuffed and kicked him. A feeling of terror hung over the meeting. After a moment of stillness, the collaborator still tried to continue speaking. However Dafa practitioners stood up one after another to sternly rebuke the collaborator and firmly protect Dafa. No matter how rampant and cruel the evil was, righteous voices resounded all over the meeting.
