Mr. Chengjun Liu had spent more than two years working to let
his fellow countrymen know about the torture and killings of Falun Gong
practitioners throughout China -- crimes former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin had
kept hidden under a veil of misinformation and with full control over the
state-run media.
On March 5th, 2002, Liu participated in tapping into a cable
T.V. signal in China's northeastern city of Changchun to broadcast programs
exposing the atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners in China and Jiang's
attempts to cover them up.
The March 5th broadcasts in Changchun sent
shockwaves throughout China, as hundreds of thousands witnessed for the first
time investigative reports about the systematic campaign Jiang was waging to
'eradicate' Falun Gong in their own country. The programs utilized information
from human rights organizations, world media and other news sources that are
readily available to those living outside China. Inside China, however, where
the content of what people see, read and hear about Falun Gong is strictly
controlled, these programs are often the first real glimpse they have of the
atrocities carried out against Falun Gong practitioners in China. (press

Sources in Beijing reported that the broadcasts infuriated
then-Chinese leader Jiang, who subsequently ordered a series of executions
targeting all persons involved in the broadcast and other practitioners of Falun
Gong throughout China. (report)
Over the next few days, more than 5,000 people believed to be
practitioners of Falun Gong were detained in a vast and unprecedented police
sweep in Changchun, as the city was reduced to near-martial law. (news)
Sources in Changchun at the time reported that dozens were killed as a result of
police brutality during the round-up, though a total media blackout severely
hampered many attempts to contact locals and confirm the individual reports. At
least six death cases were later confirmed.
On March 15th, Amnesty International headquarters in London
issued an Urgent Action statement for Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun, in
which Liu was mentioned by name. "Dozens of suspected members of the Falun Gong
spiritual movement have reportedly been detained during a security crackdown in
Changchun City, Jilin Province," the Urgent Action stated. "Amnesty
International believes they are at serious risk of torture or ill-treatment
[...] police 'stop-and-search' checkpoints have reportedly been established
across the city and dozens of alleged Falun Gong practitioners have been
detained." (news)
On March 24, 2002, Liu was arrested for his involvement in
the broadcasts. After making the arrest, one police officer drew his gun and
shot Liu twice in the legs, reportedly saying "Now how are you going to hide
[from us]?"
In September 2002, Liu was sentenced to 19 years in prison,
and sent to the Jilin Provincial Forced Labor Camp. (news)
Throughout Liu's imprisonment, sources say he was subjected
to severe torture and abuse. According to eyewitnesses who saw Liu in October
2003, he was incapacitated and "hard to recognize" from the torture. Despite an
October 24 diagnosis of "acute kidney failure, cardiac arrhythmia, critical
condition," repeated attempts by Liu's family to secure his medical parole were
denied by Chinese authorities.
At 4 a.m. on December 26, Liu died from his injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, there was blood in Liu's nose, ears, on his legs and
other parts of his body.
Liu's body was cremated seven hours after his death with
neither an autopsy performed nor the family's consent.
The speedy cremation follows of pattern of dozens of reported
cases where Falun Gong practitioners have died in police custody, and where then
cremated before family members could identify the body. According to informed
sources in China, Jiang has issued orders to record all deaths of Falun Gong
practitioners in police custody as "suicides" and to "immediately cremate" the
bodies, in an apparent attempt to destroy any evidence of torture or other
wrong-doing.
Early this morning, Falun Gong practitioners in more than a
dozen cities around the world announced plans to hold media events in front of
Chinese Embassies to report Liu's case and hold memorials for his loss.
"This is a man who had the courage to bring transparency to
the atrocities carried out against Falun Gong practitioners so Chinese people
could see it for themselves, and he had the compassion to strictly adhere to
non-violent means to do so regardless of the violence that was brought down upon
him," says Falun Dafa Information Center spokesman, Mr. Erping Zhang. "In most
countries, Liu would be applauded as a human rights hero who peacefully defended
his faith and unveiled the web of deception spun by Jiang to hide gross crimes
against humanity. In China, however, those who carry out Jiang's orders to
'eradicate' Falun Gong branded Liu an outlaw and then tortured him to death."

Background
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa (about),
is a practice of meditation and exercises with teachings based on the universal
principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." Practiced in over
50
countries world-wide, Falun Gong has roots in traditional Chinese culture.
With government estimates of as many as
100
million practicing Falun Gong in China, China's then-Communist leader, Jiang
Zemin, outlawed the peaceful practice in July 1999 (report).
Since that time, Jiang's regime has intensified its propaganda campaign to turn
public opinion against the practice while imprisoning, torturing and even
murdering those who practice it. The Falun Dafa Information Center has verified
details of 850 deaths (reports

sources) since the persecution of Falun Gong in China began in 1999. In
October 2001, however, Government officials inside China reported that the
actual death toll was well over 1,600. Expert sources now estimate that figure
to be much higher.
Hundreds of thousands have been detained, with more than
100,000 being sentenced to forced labor camps, typically without trial.

(Clearwisdom.net) At 6:00p.m. on December 29, 2003, more than a hundred Falun Gong practitioners in New York gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate at 42nd Street in Manhattan and peacefully performed the exercises and sitting meditation. They strongly condemned the Jiang regime's torturing Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun to death, and called for punishing the evil policemen and the murderers in Changchun City, bringing Dictator Jiang to justice and ending the persecution of Falun Gong.
According to Clearwisdom.net, on March 5, 2002, eight channels on the Changchun cable TV network aired "Falun Dafa Around the World," "Self-immolation or Staged Event," and other truth clarification programs. The broadcast lasted 40-50 minutes without interruption. The broadcast allowed many people to find out the truth about how Falun Gong is being slandered and persecuted, sending shockwaves throughout Mainland China, as well as outside China. Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun was a major part of this courageous act. Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, who single-handedly started the bloody persecution against Falun Gong, became furious and extremely scared. He gave the order to "kill [those responsible] without pardon."
After enduring cruel torture in prison for one year and nine months, Liu Chengjun passed away at 4 a.m. on December 26, 2003. On the same day, the Jilin Prison gathered large groups of police and forcibly cremated the body at 11 a.m. The cremation was done without an autopsy and against the family's wishes. Eyewitnesses stated that Liu Chengjun's body had bloodstains near the nostrils, ears, thighs, and other areas.
In Mainland China, the Falun Gong practitioners' freedoms of speech and belief have been completely stripped away. A moment of silence to mourn for Liu Chengjun
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun from the city of Changchun was one of the practitioners responsible for tapping into the local television network to broadcast the facts of the persecution against Falun Gong on March 5th, 2002. After enduring cruel torture in prison for one year and nine months, Liu Chengjun passed away at the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University at 4 a.m. on December 26, 2003. On the same day, the Jilin police forcibly cremated the body at 11 a.m. The cremation was done without an autopsy and against the family's wishes. Eyewitnesses stated that Liu Chengjun's body had bloodstains near the nostrils, ears, thighs, and other areas.
After learning this sad news, Falun Gong practitioners in Washington DC held a press conference at noon on December 29, 2003 in front of the Chinese Embassy to call for bringing Jiang Zemin to justice and punishing the murderers and related unlawful policemen.
The statement said, "The Falun Gong practitioners' freedoms of speech and belief have been completely stripped away. The Falun Gong practitioners who exercise their freedoms of speech and belief have been subjected to a violent persecution, and the Jiang regime's state-run media have done their utmost to cover up and disguise the use of violence and torture to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. In order to have more people understand the facts of the Jiang regime's slander and persecution of Falun Gong, Chinese Falun Gong practitioners have again and again stepped forward to expose the persecution in spite of the danger, and in some cases, lost their lives."
Attendees of the press conference had a moment of silence to bid farewell to Liu Chengjun.
A participant said, (paraphrasing) "This reminds me of the SARS outbreak this year. Doctor Jiang Yongyan from No. 301 Hospital in Beijing revealed in his letter to the media last April that the Department of Health, controlled by Jiang Zemin's cronies, covered up the SARS epidemic, and deceived the public and the international community. He was thus respected by people. Jiang's regime brutally persecuted Falun Gong and at the same time blocked all information from the public. In order to expose the Jiang regime's persecution and information blockade, Liu Chengjun gave his life to broadcast the truth, to safeguard the sacred right to freedom of speech and belief constitutionally guaranteed, and safeguarded the people's right to know the truth. He is really admirable."
Mr. Wu from Maryland said that many facts of the persecution have not yet been exposed. There are at least eight confirmed torture deaths related to the tapping into cable TV signals, and thousands of people have been arrested.
On March 5, 2002, eight channels on the Changchun cable TV network aired "Falun Dafa Around the World," "Self-immolation or Staged Event," and other truth clarification programs. The broadcast lasted 40-50 minutes without interruption. The broadcast allowed many people to find out the truth about Falun Gong being slandered and persecuted, sending shockwaves throughout Mainland China, as well as outside China. Liu Chengjun was a major part of this courageous act. Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, who single-handedly started the persecution against Falun Gong, became furious and extremely scared. He gave the order to "kill [those responsible] without pardon." More than 5,000 Changchun Falun Gong practitioners were illegally arrested. Another practitioner, Hou Mingkai, who participated in the TV-tapping was arrested on August 21, 2002 and tortured to death within two days. According to the media reports, at least six practitioners in Changchun City were abducted at the time with the excuse of the TV-tapping and then were murdered.
Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Fan who drove more than an hour to participate in the press conference said, "I'm very sad. Liu Chengjun is a true hero. The Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong is inhuman; its evilness and degradation are unprecedented. I read about a female Falun Gong practitioner in Dalian City who was sexually abused, and I feel the Jiang regime is like a beast. The persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for more than four years, even though the Chinese authorities fully understand that Falun Gong practitioners follow the principle of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolearance' to be good people in society. They only strive for the right to practice the exercises. Falun Gong is peaceful and rational, has nothing to do with politics and it is not against the government. Jiang and his cronies persecute Falun Gong, they are not worthy of being called humans."
According to a report from Minghui. Net (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net) on December 29, 2003, at Dalian City Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province, the police guards instigated the perpetrators to use the most debased methods to torture female Falun Gong practitioners. They used mops to poke at the practitioners' vaginas, inserted hot pepper into their vaginas, used a shoe brush to brush their private parts until they were bleeding. They also hung practitioners with their legs tied by two ropes which were held by people at both sides. A chair used by students was placed under the practitioner. They would hang the practitioner up and down, so the sharp angle of the chair would hit the practitioner's private parts until they were bleeding. Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhong Shujuan, Ms. Sun Yan, Ms. Chen Hui, Ms. Fu Shuying, Ms. Man Chunrong, Ms.Wang Lijun, Ms. Chang Xuexia, and Ms. Fan Yue have all suffered such torture. Ms. Chang Xuexia once fainted as a result of torture. Ms. Zhong Shujuan bled a lot after the torture, and her private parts were severely swollen. The tendon between her thighs was severely injured. She could not squat for three months. Others had to help her when she used the restroom. Such debased torture against Falun Gong practitioners are going on in many labor camps and prisons where Falun Gong practitioners are being detained.
The press conference also called for the release of American citizen Charles Li. Chinese authorities sentenced him to three years in prison on March 21, 2003 on the charge that he "planned" to use TV to broadcast the truth about Falun Gong to the public. He is detained in Nanjing Prison where he has been beaten. Over the last two months, he was forced to attend daily brainwashing sessions. He is suffering persecution both physically and mentally.
The statement said in conclusion, "We hope that everyone will condemn the Jiang regime's brutality and violence against innocent people, end this campaign of persecution and murder against Falun Gong practitioners that are persisting in their belief of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," and lend their support to the Falun Gong practitioners' righteous acts of upholding the truth and exposing the Jiang regime's lies."

participated in broadcasting the truth about Falun Dafa by tapping into cable TV
networks in Changchun City, passed away as a result of Jiang regime's
persecution. After hearing the sad news, Toronto Falun Gong practitioners went to appeal
in front of the Chinese Consulate General in Toronto. They held banners reading,
"Bring Jiang Zemin to justice," "Punish evil policemen and the
murderers in Changchun," and "Expose lies, stop killing and hold
a public trial on Jiang Zemin."
Quiet mourning in the rain
Heaven is also shedding tears. Falun Gong practitioners stood in the rain or sat on the roadsides in front of the Chinese Consulate. Among them were also the elderly and children. The media came to take photos and cover the activity. Heaven and earth were recording Jiang's crime. Falun Gong practitioners and all kind-hearted people have the same wish: Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong must be immediately stopped. We can't look on the Chinese people being dragged to the disastrous abyss by Jiang.

Upon hearing of his death, practitioners decided to hold a press conference in front of Chinese Consulate Chicago to protest Liu Chengjun'so death. They also called for the punishment of those responsible, to bring Dictator Jiang to justice, and to end the persecution of Falun Gong.

Practitioners hurried to make two banners "The Murder of Mr. Liu Chengjun is not permitted by heavenly principles" and "Bring Murderer Jiang Zemin to Justice." They prepared speeches for the press conference and fliers for distribution. Practitioners only have one wish, "Bring the murderers to justice and stop the persecution immediately!"
At 9am on December 29, in succession practitioners came to Chinese Consulate to protest peacefully. Accompanied by the serene exercise music, practitioners silently practiced the exercises and sent righteous thoughts. The two banners were especially striking. In an endless stream, people came to the Consulate to get visas and vehicles passed. Many people accepted fliers and learned the truth.
On 1pm, the press conference started. In both English and Chinese, practitioners read Mr. Liu's story and had a moment of silence to mourn for Mr. Liu.
The event concluded successfully. Consulate officials complained to police that the practitioners were "disturbing the peace." The head of the police office in that district came and he commended Falun Gong practitioners as a "very peaceful group" and allowed the peaceful protest to continue.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yang Sulan, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chenyang City, Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested and sent to the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp. While in the camp, they deprived her of sleep, verbally insulted her, and tortured her in other ways. On June 1, 2003, she passed away after the fiftieth day of her release.
Ms. Yang, from Chenyang City, was 65 years old. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Since then, many of her illnesses, including diabetes, had disappeared. She went to Beijing to appeal and was detained in the Dadong Detention Center for 10 days. In May 2000 she was detained again for 15 days for distributing truth-clarifying materials. The police, her work unit and the City Political and Judiciary Committee constantly harassed her by taping her phone conversations and tracking her every move after she was released. They told her to come to their offices several times a day and also to sign a "Disassociation Statement" [A statement to declare a dissociation with Falun Gong and promise not go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong]. They told her that if she refused to sign, she would be forced to attend a brainwashing class and that her family would also suffer harassment.
On the morning of September 30, 2002, 5 or 6 people riding in two cars, including the Political and Judiciary Committee City block section head, Liu, and police officer Chen Feibao arrived at her home and forced her into a waiting car outside without her shoes and overcoat. They forced her to attend a 10-day brainwashing class and told her that she'd continue to attend brainwashing sessions as long as she would not give up her belief. They extorted money from her family and later secretly transferred her away without notifying her family.
Her family went to see the head of the "610 Office,"* Mr. Liu, in Huanggu section and later was told that Ms. Yang was attending a brainwashing class in the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp. They kept her from sleeping, insulted her verbally, and constricted her upper body to cause her great pain and difficulty when breathing or raising her hands. They threatened her with hard labor if she would not give up her belief. After being tortured for more than 50 days, she was released, but the harassment continued. On June 1, 2003, and she passed away at home.
*"610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Yu Chunhai was a 63-year old Falun Gong practitioner from Machang Village, Zuojia Town, Changyi District, Jilin City, Jilin Province. Because he insisted on practicing Falun Gong, local police and government officials had constantly harassed him. On the night of February 7, 2002, policeman Wang Ruogang from Zuojia Town Police Station, Wang Jingkun from Zuojia Town "610 Office," and Deputy Party Secretary Tan Lan from Zuojia Town government, broke into Yu Chunhai's home with the help of Machang Village Party Secretary Zhang Jiuliang. They forcibly took Yu Chunhai and his wife away, leaving two young grandchildren home without care. That same night, Yu Chunhai's second daughter and son-in-law were also abducted, but the son-in-law escaped in the darkness. The couple and their daughter were sent to the Zuojia Town Police Station. The next morning, Yu Chunhai escaped with righteous thoughts.
In order to avoid further persecution, Yu Chunhai had to leave home and wander around. However, later on he was arrested again and subjected to long-term detention and torture. No one ever knew where he had been detained.
On the night of November 14, 2003, several strangers brought Yu Chunhai, who was on the verge of death, back to Machang Village, whose residents hadn't seen him for a long time. The strangers dropped him off in a home and left. Three days later, Yu Chunhai passed away.
When called and asked about Yu Chunhai, the officials of Machang Village confirmed his death.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Lin Fengchi is from the Duanzhou District of Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province. He was detained at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province because he cultivates Falun Gong. The first time the labor camp set up a torture facility, Mr. Lin was selected to be tortured there.
Policeman Zeng Guanhua specifically chose four or five tall and strong guards. He then arranged for these guards to watch videos that slandered and distorted the truth about Falun Gong. His intention was to instigate in them a hatred for Falun Gong. After these guards were deceived and poisoned, they were sent to torture Lin Fengchi. They beat him for more than an hour, leaving wounds all over his body and injuring his head. They also used cigarettes to burn him and pricked his fingers with toothpicks. Due to the beating, Mr. Lin became somewhat confused and he agreed to be "transformed" [to give up Falun Dafa]. Zeng Guanhua then asked him to repeat the slanderous words he said. However, Mr. Lin came to his senses and refused, so Zeng said Mr. Lin was not truly transformed. He ordered the guards to beat Mr. Lin again. In this way, Mr. Lin was beaten for four days.
Later the police poured boiling water down Mr. Lin's neck, causing large burns on his back and chest. The police then ordered the guards to rub salt in his wounds. Several days later, the wounds began to fester and smelled horribly. The police then ordered the guards to scrub the wounds with toothbrushes. On January 22, 2002, the labor camp received a secret document ordering them to immediately remove the torture facility. Afterwards, Lin Fengchi was transferred to a different location.
Later, the labor camp set up the torture facility for the second time and Lin Fengchi was once again tortured there. For the first month or so, he was not allowed to sleep and neither was he allowed to sit. He was ordered to squat during the day and to stand at night. Then he was sent to a solitary confinement cell and stayed there for fifteen days. Three times a day the police would use eight electric batons to shock him simultaneously for two to three consecutive hours. Despite all this, Mr. Lin remained very determined in Dafa.
During July and August, the weather in Guangdong was very hot. The temperature of the cement floor could reach as high as 70 degrees Celsius [almost 160 degrees Fahrenheit]. The police ordered the guards to strip off Mr. Lin's clothing and then drag him outside. The guards pressed him down the ground and sat on his four limbs. They let his back be exposed to the scorching sun for a long time. They then turned him over and exposed the front of his body to the burning sun. Seeing he still wouldn't give in and renounce Falun Dafa, the police wrapped him with two heavy quilts and continued to expose him to the scorching sun. Altogether, Mr. Lin was subjected to the intense heat of the summer sun for several hours until his life was in grave danger. Only at this point did the police send him to the hospital. As soon as his condition improved a little bit, the police took him back to the torture facility and began torturing him again.
On September 13, 2003, the torture facility was removed after existing for over half a year. Lin Fengchi was again transferred to a different location.
(Clearwisdom.net) On November 1, 2002 the labor camp attempted to brainwash Dafa practitioners and force them to write the "five letters*." Prison guards handcuffed 30-year-old Ms. Zhang Xiaogeng's hands behind her back and left her on the second floor of the labor camp for over 2 hours, which resulted in her hands becoming useless and numb for a long period of time. The perpetrators are Zhang Xiaodan and Li Xiujin.
By May 7, 2003 Ms. Zhang Xiaogeng had already gone on a hunger strike for 13 days. Prison guard Hong Wei beat her with batons for more than 2 hours and handcuffed her hands behind her back, forcing her to give up the hunger strike. The next day, he even said beating her was for her own good.
At the end of September 2002, in order to force practitioners to wear criminal uniforms and do hard labor, two male prison guards beat Ms. Zhang severely, causing large areas of blackened and rock-hard bruises on the buttocks. That morning, prison guard Sun Limin forced Ms. Zhang Xiaogeng and Ma Cuihong to do hard labor. Both of them said they did not commit any crime and should not have to do the hard labor. After Sun Limin left, in came two male police agents who started to viciously beat the Dafa practitioners with electric batons. Ms. Zhang told the prison guard Zhang Xiaodan, "You are breaking the law, beating us like this. We did not break the law. We should not have to do hard labor." Zhang Xiaodan even said, "This is the law."
Thus, under orders from prison guards Zhang Xiaodan and Sun Limin, several guards severely beat the two weakened female practitioners. A group of female prison guards kicked the practitioners with their boots and shouted, "Hurry up and get the work done! As long as you get the work done, we won't beat you!" Afterwards, the two practitioners were bedridden for more than two weeks. After a large prison guard finished with the beatings, he touched Zhang Xiaogeng's face with the electric baton and said, "You are quite beautiful. Smile for me. If you don't, I will continue to beat you."
Ms. Jiang Shufang, 47, lives in the Xingshan District of Hegang City. She was abducted and thrown into Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp for 2 years of detention simply because she practices Falun Gong. In the labor camp, prison guards tried to force her to write the "five letters." Because Jiang Shufang did not comply, the guards forced her onto the ground, with her hands pulled back over her shoulders and handcuffed to the edge of a bed. They tried to force her to write a "weekly report" and to do "homework," which included writing slanderous words about Falun Dafa. When she refused, she was cursed at, beaten physically, and again handcuffed from behind to a bed frame. Her shoulders felt like they were being torn apart. She suffered in agony from the torture inflicted upon her until she lost consciousness. As a result, her two arms did not work properly afterwards. However, when it was the time for morning exercises, prison guard Jiang Jianan would force her to do the exercises. If she could not do it, the guard would beat her on her wrist.
At the end of November 2003 when officials from the Provincial Government came for inspection, political instructor Sun Limin tried to force Jiang Shufang to write a "weekly report," but she refused. Sun then started to punch and kick her severely, until her face was black and blue.
Ever since Jiang Shufang was thrown into the labor camp, she was handcuffed from behind 6 times and was beaten and verbally abused many times. Prison guards that directly participated in her persecution: Squadron Commander Hong Wei, Vice Squadron Commander Jiang Jianan, Li Xiujin, Zhang Yan, Logistics Guard Hou Li, Political Instructor Sun Limin.
Ms. Guo Fengxia lost two-thirds of her liver in 2001 due to a car accident. Just after she got out of the hospital, she was abducted and thrown into the Forced Labor Camp and sentenced to 2 years of illegal detention. She was subjected to torture because she did not write a letter to renounce Falun Gong. Squadron Commander Hong Wei, along with 2-3 criminal inmates and two male police agents, tortured and beat her entire body until it was black and blue. After that, they tried to force her to write the "five letters." Because she refused to write them, she was subjected to further physical abuse. The old scars were still healing when new wounds were inflicted. Later she was forced to sit still on a small stool for more than 2 months simply because she would not want to write anything against Dafa. The uneven surface of the stool cut into the flesh of her buttocks, and stuck to them. She was physically weak, and due to her recent surgery and the physical abuse from the labor camp, she could not do the hard labor. However, He Qiangyin was very angry because Ms. Guo could not carry big bags on her own and carried them together with two other persons. He started punching and kicking her head and face. When she fell because of the beatings, she stood up again, and this repeated many times. Her whole body was shaking, she was dizzy, and she was no longer able to do the forced labor. When Squadron Commander Hong Wei saw that she could not do the work, he started beating her again.
Ms. Lu Xiuqin has been detained in Jiamusi Labor Camp for a year and a half now. On November 1, 2002 the labor camp officials started to brainwash Falun Dafa practitioners. Ms. Lu was hung by handcuffs behind her back as torture. In February 2003, the labor camp authorities stepped up their tactics to torture steadfast Dafa practitioners. They hung practitioners by handcuffs behind their backs to torture them. In order to force Dafa practitioners to write the"five letters," prison guards exhausted all means and tactics. The No. 8 Squadron Commander Hong Wei was the mastermind, and together with a few key instigators, he tortured and physically and mentally abused over 40 steadfast practitioners. One day, Brigadier Zhang Yan brought Ms. Lu into a classroom and then prison guard Hong Wei came up and slapped her face. In order to force Ms. Lu Xiuqin to write a "guarantee letter," the guard hung her up by the handcuffs for 2 hours until she fell unconscious. When the guard opened her handcuffs to have her write the "guarantee letter," she could not speak and neither did her hands work properly. Then Brigadier Zhang Xiaodan and another male guard dragged her by the handcuffs for quite a ways with the metal cutting into the flesh of her wrists. Some prison guards wrote a "guarantee letter" and forced her fingerprint onto it.
Ms. Li Fenglan was severely beaten by prison guards until black and blue all over and rendered unable to walk simply because she would not read any articles that defamed Falun Dafa. In September 2002, Ms. Li was slapped on the face many times by prison guard Mu Zhenjuan because she would not wear a criminal uniform. He punched her, giving her black eyes and leaving her dizzy for a long time.
* The "Five Letters": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," these statements include a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Huang Zhufeng is from Maoming Gaozhou City of Guangdong Province. The police sent him to the torture room at Sanshui Forced Labor Camp when it was first set up.
The police compressed cotton fiber into a square package. It is as high as a person in a squatting position and weighs about ten Jin (11 lb.). To use this package to torture prisoners the police handcuff a practitioner's hands around the square package with both arms stretched level, which forces the practitioner to squat down. Sometimes, the police order the inmates to torture practitioners by pulling them hard back and forth, causing the flesh at the wrist to split open, and sometimes exposing the bones. Almost every practitioner has gone through this kind of torture, including Mr. Huang Zhufeng. The police also ordered the attendants to beat him violently. To protest the persecution, Mr. Huang went on a hunger strike, refusing to take any food or water. Several days into the hunger strike, a policeman named Lu Jinhu gripped Mr. Huang's lips using steel pliers, tearing the skin and prying his teeth in order to forced-feed him, and then using an electric baton to shock his mouth. Later on, Lu Jinhu covered Mr. Huang's head with a piece of cloth and violently jerked, rubbed, and shook Mr. Huang's head until he felt dizzy, vomited, and could not move his head and neck anymore because his cervical vertebra were broken. He was then sent to the hospital in the forced labor camp. When practitioners in the "Enhanced Torture Team" spoke out for Mr. Huang, the police even denied the persecution and said that Mr. Huang was suffering from a bone spur. When Mr.Huang recovered a little bit, the police sent him back to the Torture Room again for more persecution.
A policeman named Zhang Wujun, together with several inmates under his order, tortured Mr. Huang using a cruel method called "Wu Ma Fen Shi." They handcuffed his four limbs and streched them hard in four directions simultaneously. In the end, Mr. Huang's left shoulder was broken and the ligament around it was torn apart, leading to the disability of his left arm. However, since the police waited for several days before sending him to the forced labor camp hospital, the doctors there said they could not treat him because the new flesh had already grown inside the joint. They transferred him to the Peoples' Hospital in the city of Sanshui but doctors there didn't know how to treat him either. In the end, they had no choice but to send him to a hospital specializing in orthopedics in Foshan City. He stayed there for 7 days and spent more than 20,000 Yuan* on medical expenses. The original soft tissue around the joint was completely damaged and useless so they had to replace it with another material. The treatment was not successful at all. Mr. Huang's could now lift his left arm only to the height of his chest in the front, and about 30 degrees away from his side. The arm is basically disabled. Now he is still detained inside the hospital at the forced labor camp in Sanshui City. His term has already expired, but the police won't allow him to go home because they are afraid that Mr. Huang's relatives and the people in society will find out the truth of their crimes.
* Yuan is the Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is 500 Yuan.

Tumuji Forced Labor Camp is located at Xing'an Meng League, Zhalaite Banner (a municipality unit, similar to a county), Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Below are the facts regarding how Falun Dafa practitioners in the female team of this forced labor camp have been persecuted.
Ms. Li Xiaoqiu from Manzhouli City was tortured so severely she became mentally disoriented
Ms. Li Xiaoqiu is a thirty-one-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Manzhouli City. She is single and was previously a facilities employee of the Manzhouli Post and Telegraph Amenity Company. She's bright and pretty. In June 2000, she was illegally detained and sent to a forced labor camp. Because Ms. Li Xiaoqiu resisted the persecution against Falun Dafa, she was severely tortured and her term was extended in the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp female team.
In April of 2003, Li Xiaoqiu and another practitioner, Ms. Lu Hongwei from Wengshengte Banner, Chifeng City, were force fed many times. Their front teeth were knocked out during these brutal acts, and they were also forced to attend brainwashing sessions.
After being severely tortured, Li Xiaoqiu compromised her belief in Dafa against her will and later became mentally disoriented and incontinent. The police in the labor camp thought she was feigning illness, so they segregated her and sent secretary Di Fengrong and three criminal prisoners to keep an eye on her. In spite of the fact that practitioner Li Xiaoqiu was mentally disoriented as a result of severe trauma, not only did the police refuse to let her see a doctor, but they also used electric batons to shock her, They also beat her, pulled her hair, and handcuffed her arms and legs. There were bruises covering her body. Late at night, one could always hear her forlorn screams. Other practitioners often requested that the labor camp permit her to have a medical exam, but the police said she was fine and was just pretending to be sick. Li Xiaoqiu has finished her term and was released home, but she is still suffers from mental trauma from her experience in the labor camp.
Ms. Xu Dongping was hung up and brutally beaten
Because practitioner Ms. Xu Dongping refused to shout out defamatory slogans defaming Dafa or recite the labor camp regulations, police cruelly beat and kicked her, and pulled out large clumps of her hair. They also cuffed her to a heater pipe for several hours and tortured her by means of force-feeding. Later, Xu Dongping was handcuffed to the heating pipe for a whole night.
The persecution endured by three practitioners in Genhe City
Because Genhe City practitioners Ms. Chen Jinhong, Ms. Wang Wei, and Ms. Fan Guizi refused to shout out slogans slandering Dafa and did not recite the labor camp regulations, the prison police verbally abused and insulted them. Chen Jinhong went on a hunger strike to protest her illegal detention and was savagely beaten by policewoman Yi Guijuan. First she forcefully slapped and punched Chen's face; then she pulled her hair and kicked her to the ground. The policewoman continued to beat and kick her, and used an electric baton to shock her face, chest, and many places on her back. Several spots on her face were electrically shocked, causing her to bleed severely. Police Officer Yi Guijuan verbally abused Dafa practitioner Ms. Chen non-stop while torturing her. Later, Ms. Chen was called to the office of Team Captain Zhou Guoling. There, several people again took turns kicking and beating her. She was brutally force fed until she agreed to eat again.
Practitioners Chen Jinhong, Wang Wei, and Fan Guizi were then transferred to the Tumuji Forced Labor Camp, against their will and without any legal process. The perpetrators were the police from Genhe City in Inner Mongolia AR, Captain Yi Chujiang, Deputy Captain Wang Baogang, and three others. The labor camp rejected the practitioners the first time because legal procedures weren't followed. When they were sent to the forced labor camp the second time, the three practitioners resisted the persecution by refusing the physical examination. The police then dragged the three of them out of the car and fiendishly kicked and beat Ms. Wang Wei. Her clothes were torn from the beating. The police illegally sentenced all three of them right on the spot to three years of forced labor.
Ms. Zhang Xueqing was tortured so brutally that it resulted in cardiac muscle inflammation
Dafa practitioner Zhang Xueqing from Hulunbeier City/Yimin Town repeatedly protested the illegal detention and torture by holding hunger strikes. She refused to call out slogans slandering Dafa and persisted firmly in her belief. Consequently, she suffered greatly from all kinds of unmerciful torture techniques adopted by the police. The torture included beating, kicking, shocking with electric batons, hanging, stripping off her clothes, force-feeding, and other methods. As a result, she acquired cardiac muscle inflammation, but the perpetrators still required her to perform hard physical labor.
Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dong Juying from Hulunbeier City, Dayan Town, was found to have stage three tuberculosis, which is very contagious. The police refused to let her go home and ordered her to work as usual. Meanwhile, they casually kept her with other people and allowed them to eat and live together.
The above facts are only a few of the numerous cases regarding the criminal conduct of the police in this forced labor camp. The persecution is going on continuously. For example, if Falun Dafa practitioners do not shout out slogans that defame Dafa or refuse to admit to fabricated crimes, they face aggravated torture from the labor camp police. The police want to brainwash Falun Dafa practitioners into renouncing their belief in order to personally benefit from their superiors.

The authorities in Jilin City, Jilin Province, conducted illegal searches targeting Falun Gong practitioners. This was carried out under the pretense of verifying census data and inspecting homes. The tactics they use are that section heads of the police substations mobilize the building superintendents to search every household. The focus is on rented houses. If nobody opens the door, they would put a marker on it and specially keep watch on that residence.

(Clearwisdom.net) In August 2003, under the instruction of Yang Xiantao, the chief of the Zhenbei local police station in Kangping County, some policemen posted vicious slogans slandering Falun Gong and Master Li on the walls of a gas station and on walls and telephone poles across from the Chinese Medicine Hospital. The policemen waited nearby to capture Falun Gong practitioners.
For a few days after the police posted the slanderous slogans, practitioners came and removed them and then wrote "Falun Dafa is good." Dafa practitioners Qi Li'ke and Yang Ping were arrested while they were cleaning the slogans. Yang Ping was captured at 4:00 p.m. Five to six policemen kicked and beat Yang Ping in full view of the public. The surrounding witnesses angrily exclaimed, "You are hoodlums, you only go after good people!"
Qi Li'ke and Yang Ping were sentenced to 2 years reeducation through forced labor. They are currently being detained in the Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp in Shenyang City. The arrest was conducted in order to fill a quota set by higher authorities pertaining the to arrest of Falun Dafa practitioners.
An incomplete list of the Falun Gong practitioners of Kangping County who are still being illegally detained for not giving up the practice include: Sun Fengxin, Li Manxin, Meng Yuhua, Shao Dawei, Qi Xiangru, Wang Haizhou, Wang Junzhou, Qi Li'ke, Yang Ping, Yang Guohong, Zhou Hongwei, Yang Huiying, Liu Shuying, and Jiang Xiufang.
Most of them have been brutally tortured many times and detained longer than their specified terms. They also have families, children, and jobs. They are being persecuted only because they live their lives according the the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," and strive to be good people.
The personnel of the "610 Office"* in Kangping County who persecute Falun Gong practitioners include: Li Jun, Li Xingwen, Wang Yanhui, Li Xiaoguang, Li Mi, Zhang Xiangning. The direct perpetrators are Li Mi and Zhang Xiangning, who formerly worked in the Political Security Section of the County Public and Security Bureau.
On the second day of the 2001 Chinese New Year, the former political instructor of Kangping County's Zhenbei local police station, Yan Xueyi (he has since been transferred to Haizhou Village), and another policeman came to practitioner Chen Yuchun's home in a white Jeep. They claimed the chief wanted to find out some information from him, and that once finished he could return home. After Chen Yuchun arrived at the local police station, he saw Falun Gong practitioners Liu Shuxing and Liu Yuemei who had already been detained in the duty office. After a while, this tall policeman came downstairs and said: "Chief Jiang is not coming. I was asked to send you to study at the Public Security Bureau for two days." At that time, the three of them realized they had been deceived. Chen Yuchun was able to leave using his righteous thoughts before being sent to the Public Security Bureau.
On the same day, more than ten Falun Gong practitioners were deceived into going to the Public Security Bureau. They include practitioners, Chen Yuhua, Gao Jie, Wang Yansong, Cao Liming, Qi Jingru, Yang Jingjie, and Jiang Xiufang.
During the 2001 Chinese New Year, Ren Xiyang, the former area policeman, and Vice Chief Li of the Zhenbei local police station went to Chen Yuchun's home to forcibly take the fingerprints of both his hands and make him write a statement against his will to renounce his belief in Dafa. In the beginning, they said they were only following the orders from their superior and they had to obey, but if a Falun Gong practitioner paid them money they would listen to the practitioner. When Chen Yuchun refused their attempt to extort money from him and told them Falun Gong teaches people to be good, the corrupt police revealed their true nature and said, "Will you print your fingerprints? If not, then you will have to go with us. You will be required to do it at the police station." Upon saying that, the two policemen forcibly pulled and dragged Chen Yuchun. Chen's two daughters were frightened by the sudden scene. They cried and shouted, "Don't arrest my dad!" Eventually, Ren Xiyang grabbed Chen Yuchun's hands and forcible took his fingerprints. It was already 10:00 p.m. After they left, the children asked, "Are they policemen?"
* "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(Clearwisdom.net) Authorities from the Baoding City "610 Office" and Police Department are preparing to sentence more than 70 Dafa practitioners to forced labor camps or prisons. This originated from an illegal operation conducted by the city police department to damage and destroy a truth-clarification material site.
Ever since Jiang Zemin visited Baoding in October 2003, the city mayor and the Party secretary have been in charge of persecuting Falun Gong. At the end of October, led by the city police, they illegally arrested more than 30 Falun Gong practitioners in Xinshi District and jailed them in Baoding Detention Center. A small truth-clarification materials site was destroyed, and three fellow practitioners were arrested while using the internet.
The three practitioners are Liu Hui, Baoding Mobile Communication Corporation Senior Technical Specialist; Li Shumin, Daqinghe Headquarter Senior Technical Staff; and Qian Jinsong, Baoding Beishi District Internal Revenue Service public servant.
This is what happened: two Dafa practitioners from Youdian Subdivision were discovered and arrested while distributing truth-clarification materials, and their homes were subsequently raided. On October 24, around 11:00 pm, led by Deputy Police Department Chief Jia Ruiqi, more than ten policemen broke into Li Shumin's home. They ransacked his house and took away several hundred solemn statements [public statements from practitioners that express remorse over yielding to brainwashing and torture, and the intent to resume their practice of Falun Dafa] and other internet materials, his computer and other accessories, and Dafa books. They arrested Li Shumin, and also arrested Liu Hui on October 26. On the same day around 7:00 pm, they arrested Qian Jingsong, searched his home, and confiscated his computer, Dafa books and hundreds of copies of internet materials. Deputy Police Chief Jia Ruiqi was in charge and directly involved in the entire act. Afterwards, the mayor and the Party secretary pressured the three Dafa disciples' employers to fire them from their jobs.
Due to the solemn statements and truth-clarification materials being seized by the police, by now more than 70 Dafa practitioners have been arrested.
According to a reliable source, on December 4, Liu Hui and Qian Jingsong were illegally sentenced to forced labor, and were sent to Baoding Forced Labor Camp from the Baoding Detention Center. Li Shumin's situation is still unknown.

(Clearwisdom.net) In early October of this year, the National Security police in Shanghai illegally and secretly detained Lin Xiaokai, a Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioner, for twenty days. The first thing Mr. Lin asked his wife when he returned to Taiwan was, "Can I trust you?"
This reminds me of a TV series, "Nowhere Man," which I used to watch eight years ago. The story began by showing the negative of a photograph. A professional photographer named Thomas Veil exhibited the photograph which showed military personnel executing a civilian, a photo which he had taken by accident. A few days later he was having dinner with his wife at a restaurant. She disappeared while he went to the restroom. When he got home, his wife opened the door, but acted like a total stranger, and a man appeared from inside the house claiming to be her husband. None of Thomas's friends or relatives recognized him. He found that all his records were destroyed. He was forcibly taken to a psychiatric hospital, which he soon discovered was part of the plot as well. Holding the secret in the negative, he escaped from the hospital with the negative and became a fugitive.
"Nowhere Man" is not a horror movie in the conventional sense. But people should be alert to the profound shock that the sudden distrust among people can cause. I have seen numerous horror movies with ghosts and monsters, but only this non-horror movie left me with such a vivid memory of "horror." Even Bruce Greenwood who played Thomas in the movie said with lingering trepidation: "Suddenly when I look into the mirror, I do not know if I am the one that I think I am, or if things that I think have happened really did in fact occur." This is a realistic portrayal of how Lin Xiaokai felt when he asked his wife, "Can I trust you?" on returning to Taiwan.
Mr. Lin's recollection
"The first day after I returned to Taiwan I dared not go home, because I was afraid that the phone at home was bugged or something bad might happen. So I dared not let people know that I was back while I stayed at the hotel. I only went home on the second day, but dared not take any phone calls, for fear that it might be from Mainland China asking me to do things.
"I met a Taiwanese businessman in Macau, who asked me to help him resolve some problems with his plane ticket. I was a bit scared, not sure if he was an agent sent by the Mainland to watch me. I helped him with his plane ticket, had a meal with him and boarded and debarked the plane with him. But I was feeling awful all the time. I could not help but keep an eye on him to see if he was an agent who had come to monitor me.
"I have an email message in my computer containing an article that I sent to Clearwisdom.net, which was not published. What truly puzzles me is that somehow the Chinese authorities got ahold of it.
"I could not stand it; under the circumstances I was a stranger there, not knowing anybody, and they meticulously plotted everything. I did not know whom to trust. I was very confused throughout the whole process. I did not know whether I should believe anything they said, and I was constantly nervous about what they were going to do to me next."
In contrast to "Nowhere Man," a fiction, Mr. Lin's experience in the Shanghai National Security Department is real. In "Nowhere Man," all the acquaintances could not recognize Thomas, and all the horror was confined to one individual. In Mr. Lin's case, people recognized him but he was rendered too fearful to acknowledge them, as part of the attempt to spread fear and terror to others through him.
The terrorist tactics of Jiang's regime are unparalleled
Mr. Lin believes that the infiltration of the Taiwanese Falun Gong group by the Chinese party special agents has reached a frightening stage; they have obtained information on at least 80% of the practitioners.
The real intention behind why the Shanghai National Security Department terrorized Mr. Lin for twenty days is so that he would externalize his fear and foster the terror that they had carefully planned, spreading it to the outside world.
Why did Jiang's regime apply such tactics to Falun Gong practitioners?
This is actually an indication that Jiang is loosing his grip on the suppression of Falun Gong.
Several years ago when Jiang was at his most rampant, there were arrests and sentencing without cause in China, brainwashing, burning of Dafa books, guilt and punishment by association, expulsion from work and schools, the staging of suicides, homicides and the staged self-immolation incident to frame Falun Gong. They deceived the whole nation into criticizing Falun Gong. Outside China, practitioners received threatening messages and were beaten up by hired thugs; their cars were set on fire, telephones were bugged, homes and offices were broken into and possessions were stolen. Falun Gong websites were attacked and inundated with junk mail. The persecutors acted viciously as though no one could do anything to stop them.
But every time they do a bad deed it is an opportunity for us to expose their wickedness to the world. Over the last several years, Falun Gong practitioners' persistence in their peaceful resistance and efforts to clarify the truth have allowed more and more people to see the evil nature of Jiang Zemin. Jiang's new trick is to apply "terror to individuals," to create a "pervasive atmosphere of fear." Though this tactic is venomous and wicked, it shows that Jiang is failing overall. He is no longer able to carry out large scale "acts of terrorism" as he had wished.
In Mr. Lin's case, their ploy was to have a Shanghai National Security agent posing as a practitioner go after Mr. Lin, who was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to people on the Mainland. The agent gathered all of Mr. Lin's personal information, exploited his innocence and good nature, and tricked him into going to Shanghai. Then they arrested him and showed him the detailed information they had on him in order to instill fear in him. It was especially unnerving that they knew so much about Mr. Lin, because he usually kept a low profile. This made him believe their lie that they had acquired detailed information on 80% of the Taiwanese practitioners.
Mr. Lin was frightened mainly because he had always lived in a normal social environment, and had not experienced the kind of cultural struggle prevalent in Mainland China. Over the past several decades, through one political movement after another, the ruling party on the Mainland has accumulated a wealth of tactics to deal with people. It is unimaginable that it could be this evil. But it also provided Mr. Lin and other Taiwanese with a clearer picture of the evilness of this persecution, and therefore it inspired them to work harder to expose to the world the Chinese government's persecution and to condemn and stop Jiang's acts of terrorism.
Lately, the Chinese authorities have started to attack practitioners' computers with viruses, thereby generating a sense of fear on the Internet. Some agents spread rumors on the web that they could easily monitor practitioners' cell phones and described how easy it was to infiltrate the practitioners' circles.
In fact, the transition from the former bold and open attacks to today's covert maneuvering indicates that Jiang's regime is approaching its end.
The last time I wrote an article, "When Hate and Enmity Turn Into a Political Culture" (Refer to http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/12/18/43262.html), I made the point that Jiang's regime fabricated and spread lies and propaganda in an attempt to incite hatred and induce external pressures to bear on Falun Gong, thus lending support for his suppression. This time, Jiang's regime created an "atmosphere of terror" among Falun Gong practitioners themselves, causing practitioners to distrust each other, and then spreading this atmosphere to the entire society. They caused the practitioners to feel frightened so that they would stay quiet, and they inhibited others from speaking out for Falun Gong. They used terror to obliterate people's consciences, their morals, and their longing and support for righteousness.
It can be said that Jiang is creating a "culture of terror" in an attempt to control people's spirits, to stop independent thinking, and ultimately to achieve control of people's behavior.
China has a 5,000-year-old culture, one which emphasizes kindness, righteousness, civility, wisdom, trust, and harmony. To suppress "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance," Jiang's regime has endeavored to create a "hate culture" and a "culture of terror." It is equivalent to infusing a slow acting toxin into the bloodstream of the Chinese culture. It is truly degrading our cultural spirit.
An atrocity can destroy a single generation, but poison infused into a culture will harm many generations to come. I hope that all Chinese people can awaken in time and not harbor any illusions about the originator and promoter of the "culture of terror." Whether a society can protect the basic human rights and the security of its citizens depends on whether each member of the society can choose according to his or her own conscience.
(Clearwisdom.net) A practitioner was reading a Dafa book in her home when policemen broke into her house and found her. The police then took her to the police station by force.
This practitioner's son, who is eight years old and a Falun Gong practitioner, returned home from school and heard that his mother was taken to the police station. Immediately, he went to the police station. He found the policemen who arrested his mother and asked them severely, "Why did you arrest my mom? My mom cultivates herself based on 'Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance'. What is wrong with that?"
The policemen could not respond. They mumbled for a while but could not say anything intelligible.
The young practitioner continued, "If you cannot say what law my mom has violated, you should release her immediately." The policemen were shocked by this young disciple's just actions and released his mom.

(Clearwisdom.net) These days, whenever I send forth righteous thoughts, I find the demons that remain are becoming fewer and fewer. The shell I mentioned before, which previously prevented living beings from entering or leaving the earth, has now disappeared. The spaces within and outside the three realms have been completely cleansed of demons. The remaining demons are actually inside of Dafa practitioners' own space fields rather than outside.
These demons have various images: some look very ugly, while others are shapeless and able to change into whatever they want. There are not as many as in the past and they are not as rampant either. Some demons are very afraid of being eliminated and have hidden themselves without doing anything, because they know it is useless to do anything else. However, some other demons don't want to take their defeat lying down, though they now know they will be eliminated in the end. They come out to do evil things usually at the point of Dafa practitioners' attachments.
Whenever Dafa practitioners raise their palms to send forth righteous thoughts, these demons are extremely frightened. However, if we don't focus our minds or cleanse ourselves well in the five minutes before sending forth righteous thoughts, the gong will not be as powerful later, and will fail to achieve the effect of eliminating the demons. If instead we cleanse ourselves well in the first five minutes, the gong will be very powerful later. Once I did badly in the first five minutes, and my gong could not reach the demons after I erected my palm because they ran faster than my gong. If I did well in the first five minutes, my gong would be able to eliminate these demons.
The present period for Fa-rectification cultivation no longer belongs to the old universe, because the old universe no longer exists and the cultivation time arranged by the old forces has already been used up. The present period of time was especially created by our benevolent Master for the cultivation of Dafa disciples. The time of this period goes by much faster than before. It will fly away when we don't pay enough attention. Sometimes the time slipped away when I was too careless to do something, and it made me rather uncomfortable afterwards.
Previously, the worlds of Dafa practitioners who did not do well were empty and silent; there were only mountains and rivers. But they have become quite different since Master gave them more time to cultivate.
Now, if Dafa practitioners watch any bad things, their white energy fields will become what the bad things looks like.
If a Dafa practitioner doesn't send forth righteous thoughts well, or doesn't send forth righteous thoughts when all the others are doing so together, the plants and other living things in his or her world will die. These plants and living things will not revive until he or she earnestly sends forth righteous thoughts.
On Christmas Eve, I was thinking about the Dafa practitioners in Mainland China who have become destitute and homeless in the bitter cold of winter. The persecution from Jiang Zemin's evil regime has forced many people to leave their homes and resulted in many broken families. These people were forced to leave their homes to protect their loved ones from the danger of this vicious persecution.
I have just finished my Christmas dinner with my family. We had a big reunion in a warm house and everyone was very happy. However, if I were a Dafa practitioner in Mainland China, I may be homeless, imprisoned in jail or a labor camp, or even suffering from life-threatening torture. Although Sweden is far from China, I feel my heart is intimately linked with the hearts of the Mainland practitioners. On the surface, we are from different countries, leading different lives, speaking different languages, and even having very different looks. However, we have the same faith in "Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance." I feel that my relationship with the Chinese practitioners is one of the closest that I have.
Whenever I think of the situation in China, I feel both happy and sad. This persecution is a tragedy for China and the world. Inflicting such cruel treatment upon nice, kind people is truly a dark spell for mankind. The persecution of Dafa practitioners is not only a disaster for the practitioners and their families. At the same time, it is tragic for those who would otherwise have had the chance to learn the truth about Falun Gong but, due to the lies and deception of Jiang's regime, miss the chance. At the same time, I feel happy and proud. These courageous Chinese practitioners continue to peacefully and unaffectedly tell others that Falun Dafa is great and remain steadfast in their beliefs. They are using their practical actions to show everyone the principles of "Truthfulness, Benevolence Forbearance." They continuously prove that evil and violence will never triumph over goodness and peace: Jiang Zemin's terrorist regime will never defeat "Truthfulness, Benevolence Forbearance."
I am honored and proud that I am a Dafa practitioner and can be closely related to these marvelous Chinese practitioners. Every day we can read about their righteous acts in upholding the principles of Dafa and maintaining their steadfast belief. This makes my heart feel warm.
Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, who came to offer salvation to sentient beings but was crucified by the same people he came to save. I realize that we should be concerned for one another, regardless of our nationality. I understand that we should place benevolence and thinking of others as the top priority.
Shouldn't we do our best to help those being persecuted for believing in "Truthfulness, Benevolence Forbearance?"

(Clearwisdom.net) I know a practitioner who graduated from a university with a guaranteed job ahead of her. However, around the same time she graduated, the persecution of Falun Gong began. She went to Beijing to appeal and was illegally arrested. Following her arrest, she was sent to a labor camp. Ever since being released from the labor camp, she has not been able to find a job and lives under great difficulty. Her family also has a hard time just with their basic daily living. I know this practitioner very well and in this extremely difficult period, both she and I should encourage and help each other in finishing the final paths of our journeys.
We would like to get married, but because I did not have a personal identification card, I could not finish our marriage registration. Because I practice Falun Gong, my name is on the black list of the police department, my home phone number was tapped and police harassed my family members, trying to get them to turn me in. Without my personal identification, how could I register for the marriage? I felt that it was very hard for me.
Some practitioners told me that Jiang's regime persecutes us and we would not get our ID's back. Why would we need Jiang's regime to recognize the marriage? We can ask our Teacher as well as practitioners to approve the marriage. Some other practitioners also sent me notes telling me that if I do not register my marriage, they would be firmly against it. Other practitioners said that the key of the marriage is not in its external form, but that it is based on the responsibility among your own hearts. Due to the many different opinions, I was very much puzzled. I understood one thing though, that is, the reason why I did not know what to do was because I did not have a clear understanding from the standard of the Fa. Thus in regards to this problem, I was not enlightened from the perspective of the Fa on what to do, so I asked Teacher to give me some hints.
One day, a worker told me a story, "A director of a factory worked very hard, but the boss did not pay him enough of a salary. Therefore the director used the opportunity of increasing the salary of his employees to put more additional money into his own pocket." The boss made a mistake in paying the director less, but under that particular condition, was it right for the director to use that opportunity to gain personal benefit? It is not right for the director to do that. Suddenly I understood my problem. I could not lower my standard or find some excuse and reason for not doing a good job, just because it is hard. I have to take a correct and righteous path in order to be referenced as an example for the future.
I remember that at the beginning of the persecution in 1999, the authorities had spread a rumor that Teacher had changed his birth date. Actually during that unstable historic period, there were a lot of birth dates being incorrectly recorded and a lot of people who did not get registered permanent residence until several years after they had been born. A non-practitioner would not think that this kind of mistake would matter, but our Teacher had corrected the mistake that was made on his birth date. Even though it is a trivial thing, I understood that Teacher had taught us a righteous and bright path. There is also another layer of meaning to this, which differentiates a practitioner from an ordinary person. It is that practitioners have a profound goal, but at the same time pay attention to seemingly minor things. We cannot neglect ordinary society's regulations or principles just because we are cultivators.
I sent forth righteous thoughts, saying that I'm not looking for anything, but just want to show the future's people a righteous principle, which is that people cannot lower their standards or find some excuse and reason for not doing a good job, just because it is hard. The standard will never change.
I went to the public security bureau to get pictures taken for my personal identification. I then let my relatives take my picture to the street office and police station to apply for a new personal identification, but they were not able to. The police refused the application. The reason for their refusal was because I practiced Falun Gong. But some of the police tried to trick me by saying they want to see me. I know what they meant by wanting to see me. Some of them wanted to transform me or asked me to write a so-called "statement of repentance."
It is amazing that in this special land of China, I am able to be a practitioner with righteous thoughts. I truly understand what a Fa-rectification period practitioner is. I have melted into the Fa and have become a particle of Dafa. No matter what, at any time, under any situation, and in facing any problems, I will perform according to the standard of a Dafa practitioner, always being righteous and proper in everything that I do.

Dafa practitioners are one body, and every Dafa particle is one part of this body. We cannot separate ourselves from the body. We should not consider ourselves as lone individuals. It should be clear on the basis that we belong to one body, and that we belong to Dafa.
When I consider myself as just an individual, when I think of my problems as only my own personal problems, when I think my fellow practitioner's problems as their own problems, I am placing myself outside of the body, and I am not in the Fa.
Because I was not in the Fa, and was not in the body of the Fa, I thought that tribulations of my fellow practitioners resulted from their own omissions, and that they needed to come out of it by themselves. With this thinking, I agreed with the old forces' deviated notions and with their persecution, and I remained indifferent to those persecuted fellow practitioners in different areas. This was my understanding when my mind was not on the Fa. I did not get a clear understanding from the Fa of how wrong it is for the old forces to take advantage of practitioners with omissions to persecute the Fa, and Fa-rectification.
What each practitioner does and what each practitioner says represents not only that practitioner, but also Dafa's image. For those who have not read the book and do not understand Dafa, all they have to go by is our words and our behavior.
Teacher has said: "...when you can truly understand the Fa, practice cultivation in the Fa, and be an upright and genuine cultivator, you are harmonizing the Fa. In other words, you're also safeguarding the Fa. This is because the conduct of each student in everyday people's society represents the image of Falun Dafa. Isn't that right? If we don't conduct ourselves well, we'll undoubtedly tarnish Dafa's image, and it couldn't be said that we're harmonizing the Fa." (Falun Buddha Fa: Lecture at the Conference in Singapore) [Provisional translation] Isn't this still a serious issue?
Correcting our own behavior is not validating how good we are ourselves, but validating the Fa! We have no excuses for carelessness in our thoughts and words. We are responsible for the Fa and for the one body. If we do not do it well, it will affect the salvation of the world's people and the rescue of countless beings related to them. If we do it well, the world's people will see Dafa's greatness. If we do it justly, we can correct everything that is crooked. What we do well itself is rectifying the Fa, validating the Fa, and saving the world's people.
To truly be dissolved into the Fa, there is not the concept of individual mighty virtue. We do not belong to ourselves; we belong to Dafa. We are not building individual mighty virtue, but Dafa's mighty virtue. We are particles of the Fa and are building Dafa's mighty virtue. We must do well. We must be strict with ourselves.
We must righteously walk the path before us because it is what future beings will refer to. We must be responsible towards the Fa, and we must do well!
(Clearwisdom.net) Recently the videotape of Master's "Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference" has been circulating among practitioners in our region. Many people have watched that tape, and it is still being circulated among practitioners. In addition, some practitioners describe the contents of the tape to others who have not seen it. Some practitioners continue to circulate it even though they consciously know this is not good. No matter how many excuses they have, I strongly believe that it does not conform to the Fa and, seriously speaking, it damages the Fa. In this regard, Master has already taught us not to do that. Since the "Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival" lecture has been published for quite a while, the videotape should be destroyed right away. If Master tells us not to do something, we should just not do it. I believe that we are really understanding the Fa from the Fa if we treat Master and the Fa without everyday people's mentalities.
This reminds me of the experience I had when I was illegally detained. I was questioned about a videotape that is a completely distorted version of Master's Fa Lecture on the "great catastrophe." While I was clarifying the truth to them, I wondered if practitioners had destroyed the videotape as soon as the lecture was published, so the villains would not have the chance to cook up a story to deceive people. It happened because practitioners' attachments left loopholes for evil to exploit.
This is the Fa-rectification period. The mission of Dafa disciples is to assist Master to rectify the Fa and to save the sentient beings.
I hope we all take a righteous path, immediately stop disrupting the Fa, and do well the three tasks Master asks us to do.
I would also like to take this opportunity to tell my fellow practitioners overseas not to spread this kind of thing in Mainland China.

I suggest that every disciple immediately, on the spot, destroy everything that I have not publicly issued but that is in circulation without permission, such as: my speeches that came out of Chengde; the things about supernormal abilities that a practitioner from Beijing discussed; the speech of the assistance center coordinator in Dalian; the cave story from the coordinator of the Guizhou assistance center and other speeches; not to mention the speeches made by people in charge of different regions; what was said by students after seeing me; the speech given by people in charge of the Dafa Research Society, and so on, plus texts, recordings, videotapes, etc., that have been transcribed from my speeches without permission. All of these must be destroyed on the spot, and they cannot be kept regardless of the excuse. What is "safeguarding Dafa"? This is most thoroughly a safeguarding of Dafa, and a test of whether you can follow what I tell you and whether you are truly my disciples! Let me tell everyone once again that the Dharma taught by Buddha Sakyamuni was sabotaged this way. This is a lesson in history. From now on, nobody should tape record or videotape speeches given by any of the people in charge in different regions or by any disciples; even less can they be edited into texts or be spread around for people to read. This is not a problem of any particular person, nor is this to criticize any person in particular here; instead, this is rectifying Dafa. Bear in mind: Except for Dafa students' experience sharing conferences for studying the Fa and activities organized by major assistance centers with the endorsement of the Research Society, anything that does not belong to Dafa but is being circulated in Dafa undermines Dafa.

á(Clearwisdom.net) The first Overseas Falun Dafa Young Disciples' Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference was held on December 27, 2003 at Shipai School's Auditorium in Taipei. Nearly 1,200 young Dafa disciples, their parents and guests from Japan, Malaysia and areas across Taiwan attended the conference.
Young disciples who attended the conference ranged from young children to high school students. The youngest was only two or three years old. At present, there are about 300,000 Falun Gong practitioners in Taiwan. Many practitioners' children practice Falun Gong, and many practitioners' family members also came to attend the conference.
Before the conference, more than 60 young disciples came to the stage to recite Falun Dafa scriptures, even some very young disciples could also recite the scriptures quite fluently.
Taipei Minghui School sponsored the conference. They received dozens of cultivation experience sharing papers. Due to the limitation of time, they could not arrange every young disciple to make a presentation. About 20 young disciples shared their cultivation experiences.
One of the hosts Chen Yunru is currently at her second year in high school, and she has practiced Falun Dafa for three years. She said in her experience sharing that, since her practice of Falun Gong, her schoolwork has never been negatively affected. She is a good student with excellent school reports, and she gets along well with her family members and students. Fellow students wrote in the Christmas cards they sent her that she is a good girl. She often tells her classmates about the truth of Falun Gong at school, most students have not been deceived by Jiang regime's lies. They know much about Falun Gong. As a Falun Dafa cultivator, she gets along well with her classmates.
One of the young disciples who reported their cultivation experience was little Ai Lun from Taipei. She mentioned her experience in March 2003 when she and her mother went to Hong Kong to attend Falun Dafa practitioners' activity. Upon arriving at Hong Kong airport, she and her mother were illegally detained by customs, because both their names were on Jiang regime's black list for practicing Falun Gong. During over a dozen hours of detention, she didn't eat any food, and she witnessed Hong Kong police beating Falun Gong practitioners until their noses bled. She said she would no longer go to Hong Kong, nor would her good friend go.
A Taiwan young practitioner reported the cultivation experience on behalf of a 12-year-old practitioner from Washington DC. The practitioner said in his report that once at a composition writing class, they were asked to write about a famous person. He chose to write about Falun Dafa Master. In his composition, he talked about Master's teachings, and Master's contribution to humanity and society. In the classroom presentation, every student listened to him attentively, and they learned about Falun Gong and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." He got an A+ for that composition. He also mentioned that once a student from China said some bad words once he heard of Falun Gong and repeated the "self-immolation" incident. The practitioner then told this student about the facts of Falun Gong and gave him a truth-clarifying VCD. That student changed his attitude toward Dafa later.
Minghui Schools from Japan, Canada and Washington DC presented short movies they produced, introducing activities in their Minghui Schools, including Fa study, exercise practice, arts performances and students' participation in truth clarification. The attendees gained further understanding of Minghui Schools overseas. The conference also received congratulatory message from Japan Minghui School.
After the conference, there was an arts performance, including singing songs composed by Falun Gong practitioners, dancing, music instrumental playing, movie, story-telling with patters, and drum performance. The instrumental music performances included playing over a dozen songs with an erhu, flute and other instruments. The atmosphere of the arts performance reached the climax with young practitioners' singing and dancing. The conference and arts performance concluded at dusk.

Falun Gong practitioners in Belgium recently appealed to the European Court of Human Rights to file charges against the former Chinese president, Jiang Zemin. Practitioners also raised the issue of the Jiang regime's persecution of Belgian practitioners in China.
"Radio Free Asia" reported on December 16 that practitioners of Belgian nationality recently appealed to the European Court of Human Rights in the hope that the court would accept their case to file charges against the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. Below is the report from RFA reporter Jiadai Wang:
The European Court of Human Rights is part of the EU and is situated at Strasbourg in France. Earlier this year, the Falun Gong Association brought a case before the Belgian court, charging Jiang for genocide for his role in the persecution of Falun Gong. But in July this year, the Belgian court changed its laws for suing people for genocide, making it stricter than before. The law now states that only those with Belgian nationality can sue someone for genocide [in Belgium]. The lawsuit must also be accredited internationally. Following the changes in the law, the Belgian court dismissed the case in October and this is when practitioners appealed to the European Court of Human Rights.
So, what is society's understanding regarding the case against Jiang?
On December 16, RFA reported that Professor Hongda Qiu, from the Marine Land University in America, said that the European Court of Human Rights was established for appeals as a result of the conventions of human rights. An appeal to the European Court of Human Rights can only be accepted when a just result from the initial court has not been received.
Reports say that Professor Qiu criticized the persecution of Falun Gong as a "wrongdoing." He also said that Jiang's "evil cult" law cannot apply to Falun Gong because it was made after Falun Gong came to the public.
Reports also say that Professor Liyu Yang commented that the tactics Falun Gong practitioners use in their lawsuits are to awaken people's misunderstandings of Falun Gong. A report quotes a Falun Gong practitioner saying, "Through court procedures, Falun Gong will reveal the crimes of the persecution against its practitioners.

(Clearwisdom.net, December 29, 2003) Over the Christmas holidays, Falun Gong practitioners from Finland and Sweden visited Athens in Greece to introduce Falun Gong to the Greek people, and to let people know about the enormous human rights abuses that are taking place against Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Finnish practitioners went to visit the Embassy of their home country and were welcomed by an official just before Christmas. A package of materials revealing the facts of the persecution by Jiang's regime was given to the Embassy staff. The practitioners spoke of their own experiences in practicing Falun Dafa, and demonstrated the first set of movements of the five Falun Gong exercises.

There are always loads of tourists from Mainland China in Germany during the Christmas holidays. Many of them visit the tourist attractions and the shops in the center of Hamburg. Practitioners decided to hold a series of activities in Hamburg to let the Chinese visitors know the truth about Falun Gong and see through the lies and deceit that Jiang's regime have spread throughout China. Practitioners took this opportunity to help the Chinese tourists learn about something they may never hear about in Mainland China due to the tight information blockade: many lawsuits have been filed around the world against Jiang Zemin and other chief persecutors of Falun Gong. Practitioners particularly focused on the lawsuit that was recently filed in Germany charging Jiang with crimes of Genocide, Torture and Crimes Against Humanity.

1. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Illegal Prison Sentence for Dafa Practitioners Mr. Wu Zhiqi and Mr. Wu Yongjian -- Belated News
Mr. Wu Zhiqi, 46, is a resident of Wenliu Village, Longwanguan District, Maihua Town, Maoming City. Before he began practicing Falun Gong, he had nose and throat cancer; however, Falun Gong practice cured the cancer. On January 15, 2002, policemen from Maoming City's "610 Office*" and from the Maihua Police Station arrested him, put him into Maoming City's Detention Center, and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment. Wu Zhiqi is now being held at Yangjiang City's Wenquan Prison.
Mr. Wu Yongjian was a teacher from Maoming City's Education College. In 2000, when he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, Beijing police arrested him at the place near Tiananmen Square where he was staying. He was later taken back and put into Maoming City's No. 1 Detention Center. Because he persisted in practicing Dafa, he was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment. He is now being held at Yangjiang City's Wenquan Forced Labor Camp.
* 610 Office: an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
2. [Huludao City, Liaoning Province] Someone Reported Dafa Practitioner Huang Lihua After She Clarified the Truth
Practitioner Ms. Huang Lihua is a teacher from Suizhong County's Experimental Primary School, Huludao City. A student reported her to police after she clarified the truth of Dafa in the classroom. At around 8:00 a.m. on December 16, 2003 an official from Suizhong County's Political & Judicial Committee came to the school and told Huang Lihua to go to a meeting room for a "talk." We do not yet know the outcome.

The Fangshan District's News Station has recently been slandering Dafa and claimed "to fight against Falun Gong to the end." Personnel from Fangshan District's "610 Office" subjected Dafa practitioners held in the Yuguanying in Liang Township to psychological persecution and attempted to do the so-called "transformation." Personnel from Fangshan District's "610 Office" have lately been to Xinglongzhuang Village numerous times. They broke into practitioner Ms. Ge Xiulan's home, arrested her, and have not yet released her. Ge Xiulan has been staging a hunger strike for 15 days. She firmly resists the persecution. Her life is in danger now.

Policeman Xu Wanjun is from the Ping'antai Forced Labor Camp in Lanzhou City. In 2000 he was an instructor for the No. 2 Squadron in the No. 3 Brigade. In the beginning of 2001 he was promoted to the position of instructor for the No. 3 Brigade because he worked extremely hard on "transforming" Falun Gong practitioners. He slandered Dafa severely during this period. He set up brainwashing classes, incited drug addicts to increase practitioners' workload, and extended determined practitioners' incarceration terms.

9. [Jiutai City, Jilin Province] Arrest of Seven Practitioners
On November 28, 2003, policemen from Jiutai City, Jilin Province arrested seven practitioners from the residential building of the Yingcheng Mine. One of the detained practitioners, Ms. Wang's husband, Mr. Xue, was tortured to death in Jiutai City's Forced Labor Camp because he appealed for Dafa in Beijing. Their two children and over 80-year-old parents are now left at home without any income. Their situation is worrisome. At the time of the submission of this message, the whereabouts of the seven practitioners are unknown and we have no information about their fate.

On the evening of December 8, 2003, policemen from Shouyi Street's Police Precinct, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province arrested a female practitioner. The next day, using the power of her own and of practitioners' righteous thoughts, the arrested practitioner walked out the den of evildoers in an open and dignified manner. Afterwards, the police went to harass the practitioner's family every day. They even changed the door lock on the practitioner's home when they were away. The police claimed to drive the practitioner's husband out of the precinct. The practitioner's husband and her son, who is an elementary student, have been forced to leave and became homeless to avoid the persecution.

On December 9, 2003, police from the Wuqiao District arrested practitioners Ms. Sun Fengqin and Ms. Yu Yongzhen. Ms. Yu Yongzhen jumped off the building from the third floor to escape, but she broke her bones. Sun Fengqin's whereabouts are unknown.

On December 10, 2003, police arrested practitioner Mr. Tang Wanbin, a mechanical engineer from the city's Engineering and Machinery Factory when he was distributing Dafa truth-clarifying materials. The Leaders of Qinhuangdao City's Gas Corporation in Hebei Province fired employees who were steadfast in their belief in Falun Dafa. On October 25, 2003, someone reported Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Yuanguo from Dangdao Village, Guocheng Town, Haiyang City, Shandong Province.
