Prior to the 16^th Party Congress, more than 20 Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested in the Shengli Oil Field. A brainwashing class was held to forcibly transform these practitioners. Currently, Wang Ruhai, an employee from the drilling company, has been illegally sentenced to three years in prison. The rest of the detained practitioners are still in detention. Some practitioners in the Shenli Oil Field have had to leave home in order to avoid being illegally arrested.

According to inside sources, Wang Ruhai was severely beaten and sent to a hospital. He was then transferred to the local "610 Office" in Dongying City. After he was illegally sentenced, he was sent to the Wangchun Forced Labor Camp in Qingdao City. While undergoing a medical examination, he was told that he had various illnesses, and as a result, the labor camp wouldn't accept him. Currently he is being held in the hospital under police supervision. He is totally blocked from all contact with the outside world; even the clerks in the hospital don't know anything about him. However, based on reports from those who watch over him, we conclude that he keeps clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa to people around him. People who watch over him have said, "If we stay there a little longer, we'll start practicing Falun Gong."

[Changchun City, Jilin Province] Several Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested During Chinese Lunar New Year

Dong Jingyi, female, over 40 years old, is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Changchun City. She was arrested on Dec. 28^th (lunar Chinese calendar). Currently, she is being illegally detained in the No.3 Detention Center in Changchun City. At midnight on January 3 (lunar Chinese calendar), female practitioners Shan Lixin and Chen Dan were arrested while at home. Their current situation is currently unknown.

Not long ago, I was released from the Nanshan Jail in Jinzhou City. The following two cases took place there prior to the 16^th Party Congress:

1. Police have been attempting to brainwash Falun Gong practitioners by taking turns -- they change shifts every three hours. A practitioner named Fang Ye was forced to stand day and night as punishment for remaining firm in his commitment to Falun Dafa cultivation practice. He was not allowed to sleep; if he dozed off, the officers would shock him with electronic prods. He stood for several days and nights. After he was carried back, he could no longer get up and take care of himself.

2. Practitioner Yao Mengzhen remains faithful and steadfast. Two policemen dragged him out and subjected him to various means of torture. Then he was sent to a team where he was kept under strict supervision. Before he left Team No.2, he shouted loudly, "I will never renounce my belief!" While under the team's supervision, he was subject to inhumane torture over the course of ten days.

Policemen who are committing extreme crimes against Falun Gong practitioners in the Nanshan Jail are Zhang Jiashi, Zhang Chunfeng, Feng Zibin, and Li Songtao

Before the Chinese Lunar New Year, police in Dengta County harassed and searched for Falun Dafa practitioners in a frenzy. As a result, many practitioners had to leave their homes and become destitute. However, the police spread a rumor that Falun Gong practitioners were to hold a so-called "collective action" called "Lightning." Police in some districts even spread rumors that Falun Gong practitioners ate children, which caused the general public who don't know the truth to live in panic, afraid of letting their children go out alone.

Evil actions provoke retribution. Policeman Zhao Mingshan, who participated in persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners, bit his tongue in half, had his spleen removed and several of his ribs broken as a result of a car accident.

Police in the Changshou District of Chongqing City sent released Falun Gong practitioners Li Chunyuan (after two years of forced labor re-education), Kong Fanhui (after two years of forced labor re-education) and Peng Lirong (unclear how long her term was) directly to a brainwashing center where they have been detained for more than a year. Currently the three are still being detained in the District Party School.

Officers from the Chuanwei Plant in Changshou District illegally terminated an employment contract with Falun Gong practitioners Zhao Zhifeng (female), Chen Yiquan, Tang Guoqin (female) and Zhao Hongxiu (female) and stopped providing them with basic living expenses.

Many Falun Dafa practitioners are illegally detained in the Yongchuan Female Jail. Police have forcibly detained practitioner Gao Yunxia (female) together with other prisoners with undefined terms to further intensify her persecution because she remains steadfast in her commitment to Falun Dafa cultivation practice. The officers ordered that Gao Yunxia should report before going to the washroom by saying "Criminal XX needs to go to the washroom." She didn't accept this imposed offense and went on a hunger strike, protesting the persecution. Gao Yunxia, who is forty years old, is now white-haired with bruises all over her body as a result of the persecution.

Practitioner Chen Degui is from Lishi Town of Jianjing, Chongqing City. In December 2001, Wan Hua, Wang Chun, Dai Yonghong and Nu Zhongrong arrested her and sent her to the Maojiashan Female Forced Labor Camp, where she was subjected to all means of torture for a year. In December 2002, she was released. Since she remains steadfast in her commitment to Falun Dafa cultivation practice, she was secretly arrested again on January 24, 2003. Her whereabouts are as yet unknown.

In mid December, a truth-clarifying material site in Jingmen City was discovered and two practitioners were arrested. One practitioner jumped from the second floor of the building with righteous thoughts and walked away unhurt. When a policeman, whose last name is Huang, jumped down from the second floor as well in an attempt to capture the practitioner, he broke his leg.
