Request for "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" to Look Into the Case of Mr. Shang Kunfeng

(Clearwisdom.net)

Mr. Shang Kunfeng, a 51-year-old college graduate, was the former deputy county supervisor of Zhengding County, Hebei Province. After July 20, 1999, he was demoted because he practiced Falun Gong. Then in July of 2001, he was forced to leave home and go from one place to another to avoid further persecution. His story was revealed in the international media and caught the attention of high level authorities in China. Since then, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security has regarded him as a main target. They issued a warrant for his arrest and 60,000 Yuan reward as part of a nationwide manhunt. [An average Chinese urban worker's monthly wage is about 500 Yuan]

On October 21, 2002, the police in Lincheng County, Hebei Province arrested Mr. Shang. The Ministry of Public Security is handling his case. It has been reported that Mr. Shang was secretly sentenced to three years in prison, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
