Falun Gong Practitioners Urge Congress Members to Rescue Charles Li

Greetings to my Representative!

I would like to request your urgent help in rescuing U.S. citizen Dr. Charles Li, whose life is in danger.

Charles was arrested on Jan. 22, 2003 at the Guangzhou airport in China when he went to visit his parents for the Chinese New Year. He was arrested simply because he practices Falun Gong, a popular meditation practice that emphasizes truthfulness, kindness, and tolerance.

People like Charles practice the Falun Gong exercises freely in over 60 countries. In 1999, however, China's communist ruler Jiang Zemin became jealous of Falun Gong's popularity in China and began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Over these past four years, numerous human rights reports have revealed that Jiang's regime has arrested, tortured, and killed thousands of innocent people. This is a major violation of international treaties that China has signed.

Now Jiang's regime is making up some charges and trying to put this man behind bars for up to fifteen years without any evidence and with no chance of a fair trial. We are very concerned for his safety. We urge you to please follow the lead of Charles' Congresswoman, Ms. Anna Eshoo, and write to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing or to Colin Powell, asking them to get our fellow citizen out.

Thousands of people like Charles have already been tortured and killed for no reason. We don't want the same to happen to him. Please help bring Charles home.
