UK: Letter to an MP Calling for Help to Rescue Lili Lin

I'm sure you are very busy but please take a few moments to read about a matter that I feel is of urgent concern.

My friend, Falun Gong practitioner Lili Lin from Liverpool, is seeking asylum due to the persecution of Falun Gong taking place in China. When she reported to the Home Office as usual in Liverpool yesterday, she was aggressively handled by four male police officers and imprisoned. She was without food, water or contact with her husband until the early hours of today. She is still imprisoned in a detention centre in Manchester Airport at this moment. More details can be found at the attached press release.

For this kind lady to be treated in such a manner is wrong and should not happen in our free society. However, what is really worrying me is that the immigration authorities intend to deport Lili back to China. Lili is an active Falun gong practitioner who has been pictured on Falun Gong websites and regularly takes part in peaceful appeals against the persecution in front of Chinese Consulate in Manchester and the Chinese Embassy in London. Lili's husband is the main Falun Gong contact person in the Liverpool area and his name is on over 1 million leaflets that have been distributed. Therefore, it is almost inevitable that if Lili is deported back to China, she will be imprisoned and subjected to beatings, torture and possibly even worse. I am really very concerned. Over 1,600 Falun Gong practitioners have already been murdered at the hands of the Chinese authorities. Since visiting scholar Zheng Xujun returned to China from Liverpool University in 1999, he has been detained in a forced labour camp in Beijing. We cannot allow this to happen to another innocent person.

Please do anything you can to help Lili out of this situation. It would really be terrible for the British Government to send her back to suffer at the hands of the Chinese regime.

Lili's Home Office number is L1053356.

The telephone number of the detention centre in Manchester Airport is 0161 4895702.

Thanks and kindest regards,

[UK practitioner]
