World Daily: Boston Falun Gong Practitioners Support Charles Li (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese language World Daily reported on March 6, 2003, that in order
to rescue American citizen Charles Li being detained by Chinese authorities, Boston Falun Gong
practitioners held a meeting at Massachusetts Institute of Technology so that more people would
learn the evil deeds of Chinese authorities who arbitrarily arrest and detain Falun Gong
practitioners, and to express their hope that Charles Li and local Falun Gong practitioners' family
members imprisoned in China will be released soon. Charles Li was arrested on January 22 on his arrival at Guangzhou Airport because he is a Falun
Gong practitioner. Charles Li, in his thirties, used to do research at Harvard University, and moved
to San Francisco Bay Area in 2000 to run a business dealing with Chinese medicine. Charles Li's fiancée Yeong-ching Foo pleaded with the audience to help secure his release and
return to America soon. Many Falun Gong practitioners got up onstage to tell the audience how Chinese authorities torture
their detained family members in various brutal and inhumane methods. Some of them are incarcerated
in mental hospitals, some are detained in "water dungeons," suffer electric shocks and
forced brainwashing. Family members in Boston read out letters to their family members in China in
great sorrow. They hoped that all people in the world know the vicious deeds of the Chinese
authorities. A Rescue Committee formed by Charles Li's friends published a statement condemning Chinese
authorities' arbitrary arrest of people without any evidence. It is clearly a violation of human
rights. Charles Li's friend Drew Parker, from North Carolina, sang a song he composed to express
hope that it can bring Charles Li home. The sponsor prepared signature collection albums, hoping to take signatures to Washington DC.
They also expressed that anyone who wanted to extend a helping hand to rescue Charles Li, please
call (202) 647-6803 to contact Miss Cindy Hurley who is in charge of this matter in the office of
the United States Secretary of State.
