Open Letter to Charles Li, US Citizen Detained in China, From His Fiancée

Dear Charles:

I love you. All your friends and practitioners love you. We stand by you all the time, everywhere.

Remember in March 2002 before I went to Texas, you told me: "Don't ask any questions, just come to my place. You do it right now." Today I will say the same thing to you. Let's keep this in mind all the time:

The current moment is crucial. This is an evil scoundrel government. They should not have the power to decide anything. Their lawyers cannot decide anything. The evil regime has offered to let us get a lawyer to defend you. We will not be cheated. This is simply going to be another show trial, just like many show trials in the past for the regime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners "legally." We don't recognize their arrangements and tricks.

How can I choose a lawyer for you knowing all of this? In China, who dares to act against the will of the government? How much true information can foreign lawyers obtain through such a system? The evil regime is merely trying to start a show to persecute a U.S. citizen! And at the meanwhile, they are trying to fool the U.S. government as well.

We both let Chinese government know: their tricks cannot work. We both let the U.S. government know: let's not be fooled by the regime's common tactics. The brutal and inhumane means and tools that the regime has used in the persecution of Falun Gong are beyond people's imagination. We need America's help, not in terms of following their tricks, but getting you back first, back to America and back to me.

Darling, all of us care so much about you. You mean a lot to us. We all stand by you until you are free. Practitioners from around the U.S. held a very successful rally in front of the State Department last week. An organization "Friends of Charles Li" and a web site www.RescueCharles.org were set up. We have submitted more than 30,000 signatures to the U.S. government.

You shouldn't have been arrested or tried in the first place, my darling. You didn't do anything wrong. The Chinese Consulate official in San Francisco said on Channel 26 commenting on your case that overseas practitioners shouldn't go to China during the Chinese New Year to add burden to the already busy police; that they are in control of a list of overseas practitioners. It is so obvious that you are on the list. We will do everything to get you back.

Your representatives, your friends, many Americans, and all Falun Dafa practitioners around the world care about you, and we are all standing by you as one body. We send forth righteous thoughts for you. The unfair arrangements are not acceptable. My darling, you have the right to deny such unfair arrangements and the unfair trial. Justice should prevail eventually. Good will be rewarded with good, evil with evil.

You should be set free UNCONDITIONALLY.
