As the Jiang regime prepares to put U.S. citizen and Falun Gong practitioner Charles Li on trial March 21, news has filtered out of China in the last couple of days that 8 more practitioners are verified to have been tortured to death. In the 12 days from the first to the 12th of March, reports of 38 deaths due to persecution have come from China. None of these practitioners had the benefit of any legal procedures.

The following stories illustrate how innocent practitioners are being persecuted to death just because they practice Falun Gong and strive to be good people, and just because they tell the truth of the persecution to the people. These 38 deaths once again testify to the fact that Jiang's regime has never followed the law when dealing with Falun Gong from the very beginning of the persecution.

Six Policemen Lifted Her Up and Threw Her on the Ground Six Times

News from Guanghan City, Sichuan Province: Li Decong, a 50-year-old woman, had been arrested and sent to brainwashing centers and detention centers four times because she insisted on practicing Dafa. The last time she was arrested was on November 13, 2002. Over a dozen police officers forcefully carried Li Decong away while she was working at a teashop in Mashi Street, Guanghan City. She was sent to Hexing Town brainwashing center in Guanghan City where she was brutally beaten and abused. Six persons from the "610 Office" (an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems) lifted her up and threw her on the ground six times and caused severe internal injuries and a hemorrhage. In order to escape their responsibility, the police sent her to Guanghan City No. 2 People's Hospital. To escape surveillance, Li Decong ran out of hospital during a diagnostic test and was forced to leave home and move from place to place. More than 50 days later, she passed away in a private home on January 10, 2003.

When asked, a policeman at the Nanfeng Town Police Station in Guanghan City refused to disclose information about Ms. Li's death. Another policeman from Chengbei Police Station in Guanghan City claimed that Ms. Li might have died of some illness.

Farmer Yuan Shengqian Tortured to Death

News from Sichuan Province: Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yuan Shengqian, 46 years old, was a farmer from Zhuwa County, Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province. Because he resolutely persisted in his cultivation practice of Falun Gong, he was abducted several times by county government officials and held in the county government hall for brainwashing.

On December 28, 2000, Yuan Shengqian went to Beijing a second time to appeal for Falun Dafa. When he was arrested in Beijing and sent back to the county government, he was beaten so badly by the officials from local "610 Office" that he lost consciousness. Later, he was forced to carry a black sign and parade through the streets to be publicly denounced. Afterwards, he was transferred to a detention center in Pengzhou City, where he was held for one month; then he was sentenced to one and a half years in a forced labor camp. While being imprisoned in the Xinhua Forced Labor Camp in Mianyang City, he continued to suffer various methods of persecution and inhuman torture, which caused severe internal injuries. Fearing responsibility, the labor camp set him free. After returning home, Yuan Shengqian's health continuously declined, and he passed away on April 27, 2002.

A staff member from Zhuwa County Government claimed that Mr. Yuan died after he was released from the labor camp at the end of 2001.

Two Young Men in Guangdong Province Tortured to Death

News from Guangdong Province: Hong Haoyuan from Chaozhou City died of torture last month; Liang Huabing from Enping County died two years ago.

Hong Haoyuan, male, over 20 years old, was a Falun Dafa practitioner in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. In the spring of 2000, he traveled to Beijing to safeguard and validate Dafa. Approximately in April of the same year he was illegally sentenced to be detained in the Sanshui Labor Camp for two years. To be true to his belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" he insisted on practicing Falun Gong in the labor camp, and suffered inhumane torture at the hands of the police. Before being sent to Sanshui Labor Camp, Hong Haoyuan was young and strong, but after he was released he had become emaciated and severely weakened. His relatives, friends and neighbors were no longer able to recognize him. He passed away at 2 a.m. on February 5th, 2003 because his body had become extremely weak.

On September 13, 2002, five months before his death, Hong Haoyuan wrote his experience of being tortured at the Sanshun Labor Camp. "They then dragged me to a meadow and asked me to write the 'pledge' promising not to practice Falun Gong exercises in the labor camp. I refused. So they took off my coat and blindly shocked me again. They particularly shocked me in tender spots like the armpits and nipples etc., demonstrating their malicious mindset." "During those two years, several times I wrote the so-called 'pledge' or 'statement.' It was all done under the threats of terror, violence and torture. It was not done based on my own free will; I proclaim that these statements are all invalid. Having done this has caused my mind a lot of pain."

A woman from the Chaozhou Police Department commented yesterday that she couldn't disclose anything about Hong Haoyuan's death.

Dafa practitioner Liang Huabing was from Erping County, Guangdong Province. In the summer of 2000, Liang went to Beijing to validate the Fa. However, Liang was captured at the Guangzhou Railway Station by the police. Liang was sent to a mental hospital in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, where he suffered all kinds of torture. Later this mental hospital informed Liang's family to bail him out. At that time, Liang was extremely weak and had edema all over his body. Shortly after returning home, Liang passed away, at the age of no more than 20.

A man on duty at the National Security Division of Enping County Police Department in Guangdong Province validated the death of Liang Huabing, and he claimed that Liang was from Guangzhou Area; thus the details of his death are not on their record.

Four More Dafa Practitioners Tortured to Death in Jilin Province

Mr. Zou Benhui, a 50-year-old gentleman from Changchun City, Jilin Province, had been illegally detained, brutally tortured, and had his home ransacked on many occasions. He subsequently developed severe liver disease complicated by ascites. Early this year (2003) he died at home.

A man from Changchun City Police Department said, "I can't discuss this issue with you on the phone. Only when we meet can I tell you something about Zou Benhui."

Mr. Liu Haibo, a 30-year-old Dafa practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province, had been illegally detained, brutally tortured, and had his home ransacked many times. In March 2002, he was tortured to death at the Kuancheng Branch of Changchun Police Department. The news of his being beaten to death was tightly sealed by the police department.

When the reporter called Kuancheng City Police Department, the man on duty immediately hung up when he learned it was about Liu Haibo.

Ms. Li Hua, a 45-year-old Dafa practitioner, lived in Huanglong Street, Nongan Town, Nongan County, Jilin Province. The police had illegally detained her three times, ransacked her home twice, and harassed her at home over ten times. While being detained illegally, she became extremely weak. After she was released, the police continued to arrest her. Due to the enormous mental and physical torment, she died in November 2002 at home.

Ms. Wang Shuxian, a 42 year old Dafa practitioner, lived in Nongan Town, Nongan County, Jilin Province. In early 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was arrested and sent back to Nongan County Second Detention Center. Even after severe mental and physical torture, the detention center still did not release her. Not until she was near death did the detention center send her home. Her family members saw that she was on the verge of death, and insisted that the detention center send her to the hospital for resuscitation. However, she was dead on arrival at the hospital.

A person at Nongan County Detention Center confirmed that Wang Shuxian and Li Hua were both Falun Gong practitioners and they had died in police custody.
