Falun Gong Practitioners from the Greater Philadelphia Area Collect Signatures to Rescue Charles Li (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On March 15, to help rescue Dr. Charles Li who has been detained in China, practitioners from the greater Philadelphia area collected signatures in Chinatown, at the Liberty Bell and outside the Philadelphia Convention Center. Practitioners call upon the US government and people to help rescue Charles Li and bring him home to US.

Many tourists and local residents signed the petition to show their support. When they learned that Dr Li was arrested as soon as he landed in China just because he cultivated Falun Gong, they expressed they could not understand Chinese government's conduct. A tourist from NY told a reporter, "In US we have religious freedom. I cannot understand why the Chinese government would do such a thing. I think it is wrong."

Many Chinese in Chinatown also expressed their wishes for Dr. Charles Li's safe return and expressed their concerns about the blacklist of Falun Gong practitioners that the Chinese government has been collecting. "I really do not know what method the Chinese government uses to monitor overseas Chinese. Overseas Chinese people's freedom was infringed. If you have a difference of opinion with the Chinese government, you never know what could happen to you.," Mr. Liu, a resident of suburban Philadelphia, told a reporter.

Many people who signed the petition expressed that Dr. Li is a US citizen and should be protected by US law. The Chinese government does not have the right to prosecute Dr. Li because of his beliefs.
