(Clearwisdom.net) Zhao Baolan, female, 63 years old, lived in the
Transportation Vehicles Repair Factory of the Eighth Sub-factory in Dongying
City. She was illegally detained at Hekou District Detention Center of Dongying
City for over 2 months after she went to Beijing to appeal on October 1, 2001.
She was not allowed to have warm clothing in the winter, and her family members
were denied the right to see her and bring her some clothing. They were told
that there was no such a person named Zhao Baolan there. Later Zhao's whole body
became swollen and infected as a result of injuries sustained from the beatings
she received. Afraid to take responsibility, the detention center sent her home.
Soon afterwards, she passed away.
