Falun Dafa Practitioner Yu Huayan from Fushun City Suffers Mental Collapse Due to the Extreme Persecution at the Xinbin Detention Center

March 14, 2003

(Clearwisdom.net) Yu Huayan, a 24 year old Falun Dafa practitioner, is from Pingdingshan Town, Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. After July 20, 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal and wanted to speak out for justice for Dafa and Master Li. Consequently, he was illegally arrested and detained in Xinbin Detention Center. While being detained, he always remembered to study the Falun Dafa teachings. Without Falun Dafa books available, he recited Hong Yin [the collection of Master Li's poems]. he was able to recite Hong Yin from the beginning to the end. During him recitation, other practitioners wrote down Master Li's poems with pens and paper, so all the practitioners could study the Fa and reinforce their own righteous thoughts together.

One day, while Yu Huayan and several other practitioners were practicing the mediation exercise, the guards noticed them. Qu Xiufeng, the detention center director, came and slapped each of the practitioners (who had practiced) three times. Next day, the practitioners who had practiced were put into solitary cells with one or two practitioners in one solitary cell. Director Qu Xiufeng also hinted to the guards in the solitary cells to "increase the intensity" (that is, escalate the persecution against them). At midnight, the sounds from beating people in the solitary cells was widely heard. The noise from someone being hit against the wall could also be heard. There is a physical torture called "stopping a vehicle through braking," during which the person being tortured is left to stand over a foot away from a wall while bending his body down with his head pointing to the wall. When the person being tortured is suddenly kicked on the buttock, his head would bump into the wall. After being tortured this way, the reactions of the person will range from dizziness, at the least, to cerebral concussion, at its most severe. The torture would usually last over one hour. Next day, the guards said that Yu Huayan had become insane. Later they took him away and it is unknown where he was taken. Sometime after, it was learned that Yu Huayan had suffered a mental collapse due to the persecution he received.
