(Clearwisdom.net) On March 23, 2003, Canadian practitioners in Ottawa peacefully protested in front of the Chinese Embassy, asking the Chinese government to release Falun Gong practitioner and U.S. citizen Dr. Charles Li and two other Canadians' relatives, Falun Gong practitioner Li Mingli and Huang Jiangang. At the same time, Canadian practitioners held protests in front of Chinese consulates and in communities in other cities, including Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

American Citizen Charles Li went back China to visit his parents but was immediately arrested at Guangzhou airport on January 22, 2003. He was sentenced to three years in prison and then will be immediately deported. But so far, it is still not clear when Charles Li can come back to America.

Canadian practitioners strongly condemned China's actions of violating the basic human rights and freedom of belief and asked China to release Charles Li immediately and release Lin Shenli's brother Lin Mingli, and Huang Limin's brother Huang Jiangang.

Canada resident Lin Shenli was illegally detained in China for two years because of his belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." After the joint effort of the Canadian people and the Canadian government, he was successfully rescued and returned to Canada. But Lin Shenli's brother, who also refused to give up his belief, is still detained in a forced labor camp and continues to be tortured there. The same experience happened to Huang Jiangang, too. He was sentenced to forced labor without a trial and after the term, he was again detained in a forced brainwashing class.

Since July 1999, China's legal system has been completely controlled by Jiang's regime and is being used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners who believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." In March 2003 alone, at least 42 Falun Gong practitioners were reported as having died from the persecution in China. Legal procedures were overlooked for those detained and arrested. As of now, a total of 636 practitioners are confirmed to have died due to the persecution.
