I am 76 this year, and I started practicing Falun Gong on May 20, 1996. I had
lots of illnesses, such as glaucoma, nephritis, and heart disease. After
practicing Falun Gong, all my illnesses disappeared.
In 1999, the Chinese government illegally banned Falun Gong, so in November
2000 I went to Beijing to appeal and tell the Central Government that Falun Dafa
is good. As soon as I got to Tiananmen Square, I was arrested. The police threw
me into a van and sent me somewhere for detention. Because I did not report my
name, they beat me severely. I was repeatedly struck and had black eyes and a
swollen forehead. It was hard to catch my breath due to the police agents'
roughly kicking me in my side with their heavy boots. I was 73 at that time. I
was detained for more than 10 days in such a vicious environment.
