(Clearwisdom.net) On February 27, 2003, the California "Rescue Charles Li" interstate car tour reached the Cities of Ureka and Arcata in Northern California. Ms. Yeong Ching Foo also joined the car tour. She is the fiancée of Mr. Charles Li, a U.S. citizen who was unreasonably arrested at Guangzhou Airport in China.

Explaining the facts of the persecution in a state senator's office

Along the route, in all cities or counties we passed through, we visited mayors, supervisors, county and city council members, distributed truth-clarifying flyers, and collected petition signatures (Online petition available at: http://rescuecharles.org/signature/index_en.php). When the northern California residents and government officials heard that Charles Li has been unlawfully detained since January 22, and that his family members and friends are not allowed to visit or phone him, they all felt indignant.

A middle-aged lady said, "I really cannot understand the Chinese government's ridiculous behavior. Unreasonably detaining a US citizen for 35 days [up to now] is really intolerable. If they continue to do so, they will arouse popular indignation."

A young man said, "When I heard this news, I definitely wanted to sign the petition. If I put myself in this position, if I were Charles, and I were unreasonably detained for 35 days when I traveled abroad, I would certainly appreciate other people's support and rescue."

When we passed through the City of Arcata, we were interviewed by the local TV station for a broadcast later that evening. The station also intends to broadcast a series of Falun Gong truth-clarifying TV programs.
