UK: Press Conference Opposite the Home Office in Liverpool

On Monday March 3, a press conference was held opposite the Home Office in Liverpool calling for the immediate release of UK Falun Gong practitioner Lili Lin. Lili has been imprisoned by the UK authorities who say she is due to be deported to China on March 7. Before the press conference, UK media talked to practitioners and took photos. Interviews were also conducted by telephone and the husband of Lili Lin, Jinfei Zhang, appeared on a Liverpool radio station. Journalists from the Epoch Times and NTDTV station were also present for the press conference.

Lili Lin's husband Jinfei Zhang appeals for her immediate release

A western practitioner tells of the violence she suffered from Chinese police

A heart warming appeal from Lili's husband Jinfei was given at the press conference, followed by a speech from a Director of the UK Falun Gong Association. A Chinese lady told how she was violently treated by police in Beijing while she was eight months pregnant, because she is a Falun Gong practitioner. This particularly touched listeners' hearts as Lili Lin is pregnant and is likely to face even worse treatment if the UK authorities force her into the waiting hands of Jiang's regime. A western practitioner, who was thrown down a flight of stairs and dragged into a police van by her hair after a peaceful appeal in Beijing also spoke of the persecution that she suffered.

Three practitioners delivered information and a letter for the Home Secretary to staff at the Home Office. A member of staff was glad to accept the materials and chatted with the practitioners. Practitioners also visited the office of the Liverpool Mayor and, although the Mayor was not in the office, a sympathetic official took notes on Lili's situation and promised to pass them on to the mayor.
