Facts Surrounding the Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners at Xuanhua Detention Center, Hebei Province

Recently the Zhangjiakou City Xuanhua Detention Centre in Hebei Province sent three illegally detained practitioners, who have been on a hunger strike for many days, to the hospital. Their names are Yang Guifeng, Yang Yumei, and Chen Cuiying. We are worried about these three practitioners' health and safety. The local "610 Office" not only refused to release them but also forced their families to pay up to a thousand dollars for hospital expenses. ["610 Office" is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.] The practitioners' medical conditions require that their relatives be next to them to look after them, and police are stationed at the door day and night. We call upon international human rights organizations to pay attention to this case so that the illegally detained practitioners, who are currently on a hunger strike, can be released as soon as possible. She was unlawfully detained again on September 6, 2002 and has been deported to Xuanhua Erfu Hospital after going on a hunger strike for nearly 10 days in protest against her prolonged and unlawful detainment. Chen Cuiying, female, was detained for 15 days because she appealed in Beijing on July 2, 2002. During the 16^th Congress, police forcefully arrested her while she was sleeping with the excuse that she used to go to practitioners' houses. She was unlawfully detained.
