"Rescue Charles Li" Car Tour Team Holds Press Conference at Philadelphia Liberty Bell (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Despite a snowstorm, the six member "Rescue Charles Li" car tour team set out from Boston, went through New York City, Philadelphia and finally reached Washington DC. At 3:30 p.m. on March 6, they held a press conference in front of the Philadelphia Liberty Bell, which is a well-known symbol of freedom and democracy. They appealed to the public to reach out and help US citizen and Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Charles Li to regain freedom and return home.

Ms. Mu Qiqi from Boston spoke about how Philadelphia was where the US Constitution was enacted. Unfortunately, as of today, the Chinese government has unlawfully detained a US citizen for over 40 days. She hoped that this car tour would allow more people to help out and call for the release of Charles Li. In 1776, Thomas Jefferson expatiated in the Declaration of Independence: "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." The first article of the revised US Constitution passed in 1791 protecting American people's freedoms of religion, speech, press and peaceful assembly as well as rights to appeal to the government. Unfortunately, at present the Chinese government threatens an American citizen's freedom of belief.

At the press conference, Ms. Mu said, "Charles Li is a medical doctor, who did research at Harvard University. We are very familiar with him. He is an honest and kind person. We are all very worried about his safety. He went back to China to tell his parents about the good news of his engagement. Unfortunately, he was arrested immediately after he got off the airplane. It has been 45 days up to present. However, the Chinese authorities still have not provided any reason for his arrest, nor have they filed a lawsuit against him." Ms. Mu called upon the public to help rescue Charles Li and let him return home as soon as possible.

After the press conference, the car tour team continued their journey towards Washington DC and will hold a news conference in front of the appeal to the Department of State to appeal to the US government to help allow Charles Li return home.
