Dafa Practitioner Zhang Guoyi Relentlessly Tortured in Zhangshi Labor Camp, Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Guoyi from Shenyang City is 46 years old. After the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime began, Zhang Guoyi went to Beijing to appealin the middle of October 1999; however, he was arrested and sent to the brainwashing class in Shenyang Longshan Labor Camp. He was illegally detained for almost six months. During that period, Gu Quanjie, the head of Laodafang Township in Liaozhong County, Liu Xueping, chief of police and Xing Guozhan, head of the village, went to harass Zhang's family several times. They extorted 6,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] from Zhang's wife. After Zhang Guoyi got back home, the corrupt officials illegally fined him another 4,000 Yuan.

Zhang Guoyi went to Beijing to appeal again on the twenty-fifth day of the twelfth month of the lunar year. After being arrested, he was tortured with horrible devices at the Beijing Xicheng Detention Center for one month and then illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. He was sent to Shenyang Zhangshi Labor Camp and dispatched to the specialized team [team that specialized in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners].

The police instigated collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] to try to brainwash him around the clock. He was not allowed to sleep for over 15 days. He was not allowed to sit, but made to squat or stand facing the wall. Just after the Spring Festival of 2002, the team instructor, Song Baishun, imprisoned Zhang Guoyi and several other steadfast Dafa practitioners in the storage room. In the unheated room, the walls were covered with thick, icy frost. Song Baishun ordered the Dafa practitioners to stand and face the wall around the clock. The practitioners were not allowed to sleep and the collaborators took shifts watching over them. One week later, after seeing that Dafa practitioners still did not renounce their beliefs, the evil people sent them over to be beaten by the most violent criminals. They promised the criminals that their jail terms could be greatly reduced if they finished the tasks of "transforming" the practitioners, and make them give up practicing Falun Gong through torture. Therefore, the criminals in the labor camp used all means of torture on the Dafa practitioners. They made Zhang Guoyi squat over an array of thumb tacks. The tacks would stab him if he fell down. They also wrote words that slandered Master on Zhang's back. One criminal even used a broken toothbrush, stabbing the soles of Zhang's feet with the sharp edges.

On August 2, 2002, Zhang Guoyi, Li Hongsheng, Lu Yansong, and other Dafa practitioners handed in a statement expressing their wish to continue practicing Falun Gong steadfastly. At first, Song Baishun forced them to squat and "reflect on their deeds," then "educated" them one by one in the office. The evil persons forcefully took off Zhang Guoyi's coat, cuffed both of his hands behind his back, and made him lie on his stomach on a quilt spread on the floor. Two criminals forcefully pushed Zhang's head into the quilt and almost suffocated him. Then Guan Feng, Song Baishun, Chen Wei, Pan Jinwei, and several other police used high voltage electric batons to shock Zhang on his abdomen, back, arm and armpit, for more than two hours. Zhang's upper body was burned all over by the electricity until there seemed to be no unwounded skin on his upper body. However, Zhang didn't yield from beginning to end. At last, Song Baishun sent Zhang to the sixth "General Education" team and imposed extremely heavy labor and strictly monitoring on him. They didn't allow his relatives to visit him.

On February 17, 2003, Zhang Guoyi's term was up and he should have been released. However, the government of Laodafang Township illegally sent Zhang Guoyi again into the brainwashing class of Zhangshi Labor Camp. They also extorted 3,000 Yuan for board and meals from his family and thus worsened his family's financial difficulties. The persecution is still continuing.
