Doctors in Beijing: Patients Infected with SARS Far Outnumber the Officially-Published Figure (Clearwisdom.net) According to an Apple's Daily dispatch on April 9, after
the first foreigner died of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) in Beijing, it was verified
that there were three other foreigners who have been infected with SARS in Guangdong province.
Foreigners in China are being plagued by anxiety. Reuters reported that information provided by
doctors and hospitals in Beijing say that the number of patients infected with SARS far outnumbered
the official figure. There are at least three more patients who died of SARS. Reuters reported that in Beijing there were at least two laborers and an elderly
man who died of SARS. Doctors in several hospitals said that their wards are full with patients. One
hospital even had to stop admitting new patients for one week. A doctor in Beijing No.1 Hospital
said: "It is impossible that there are only 19 cases of SARS in Beijing. The infectious disease
wards in our hospital are all full." China permitted specialists from the World Health Organization to enter Guangdong
province the day after the World Health Organization issued a warning against travel to Guangdong.
