A Few of the Recent Persecution Cases in the Changchun Area of Jilin Province

Zhengyang Police in Changchun illegally arrested over ten Dafa practitioners and tortured them severely.

Zhengyang Police Substation in Luyuan District, Changchun City, and the Politics and Security Section of Luyuan District Police Substation arrested over ten Falun Dafa practitioners. Li He, of the Politics and Security Section, instructed the police and hired security to torture Falun Dafa practitioners. Ruan Dachun of the Politics and Security Section even tortured a practitioner who had a heart attack, yelling: "I am the evil police mentioned in your Minghui website. We are the evil policemen of the '610 Office'". They tortured practitioners Liu Boyang, Li Zhenyu, Li Xiaoguang, Gao Xiuling, Zhi Guihua, Zhao Aiguo, Sun Jian, Lan Lihua, Jin Changlu, Dian Guangyi, Xiao Cui (a cook), Wang Li, Yu Lihua, Ma Guoling, Yan Huawei, Liu Jing, Shi Lei and more. Most were tortured with a method know as, "Da Gua" (a hanging torture), "Tying the Ropes", and suffocation with plastic bags over the head.

Zhi Guxiang's bruises were kicked until the skin was broken and then sprayed with salt to cause further pain. [He was ultimately tortured to death. For his death report please refer to Torture Death of Female Dafa Practitioner Zhi Guixiang in Luuyuan District Police Department, Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province (Photo).] After they had been tortured at Zhengyang Police Substation, some Falun Dafa practitioners were sent to Luyuan Police Substation and the 1^st Section of Changchun for further mistreatment. Li Xiaoguang, Zhao Aiguo, Lan Lihua were sent to a secret basement, probably another interrogation room at Heizuizi, to be interrogated. There, they were tied to a "tiger-bench." Zhao Aiguo and Li Xiaoguang were shocked with electric batons for long periods of time, resulting in several large blisters on Li Xiaoguang's chest. Zhao Aiguo's feet were squeezed with pliers by the policemen, creating many bleeding blisters, which the police then squeezed open to form raw sores. Even a 60-year old grandmother, Gao Xiuling, was sent to the secret interrogation room. When the practitioners were arrested, the police stole practitioners' goods and possessions from their homes. Most of these practitioners are still detained. Some have been illegally sentenced to labor camp. Others are being held at the No. 3 Shuangyang Detention Center and Tiebei No. 1 Detention Center.

Secret "Trials" with Indictments Read Quickly to Finish Before Dawn

The Changchun Judicial System has held all trials of Falun Dafa practitioners in secret. Practitioners were not informed about their trials in advance, and were often woken up at 5:00 am to get dressed and go to court. In China, criminal court typically starts at 9:00am after the police come on duty. Conducting these sessions before anyone else comes on duty indicates the intention to hide the trials of Falun Dafa practitioners. Each practitioner has a separate courtroom. In the "trial," the prosecutor quickly reads through the so-called indictment, but practitioners are not allowed any defense. The assigned lawyers are just kept for show, and practitioners do not have any chance to speak. Just this quick reading of the indictment is a so-called "court trial", and then the practitioners are removed from the court. For example, after the prosecutor finished speaking at practitioner Ma Yechi's trial, she was seized by the throat and dragged out of the courtroom before she was able to say a word. She was sent back to the detention center with bruises on her neck.

Death Cases

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhou Wenjie, from Dongfeng County, Jilin Province, was tortured to death between May and June 2002. She taught foreign languages at a middle school in Dongfeng County. She was illegally detained at Changchun Heizuizi Labor Camp at the end of 1999. In September 2001, she was transferred from Heizuizi to Jiutai. She was one of more than ten practitioners who were released. Afterward, however, she was sent to the local "610 Office" brainwashing session. She protested with a hunger strike and was finally released, but she was forced become temporarily homeless to avoid further harassment. Between April and May in 2002, Zhou Wenjie traveled outside Changchun to distribute truth-clarification materials, but never returned. Dafa practitioners in Dongfeng County reported that Zhou Wenjie died as a result of the persecution she received, and her ashes have now been transferred to her husband. Shen Jianli, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Changchun was persecuted to death. She was a postgraduate and also an assistant professor in the Science and Engineering Department Jilin University, formerly called Jilin Industrial Institute. At the third detention center at Shuanyang Changchun, her death is no longer a secret. Dafa practitioners reported that Shen Jianli did not return after she was interrogated outdoors at Shuanyang Detention Center. Even the disciplinary guards at the detention center testified that she died as result of the persecution she received during her interrogation. Just because Shen Jianli attended the illegal trial of her husband on March 6, 2002, she was arrested, and murdered while in detention. Falun Dafa practitioners who are detained at Shuanyang No. 3 Detention Center are always tortured very severely during outdoor interrogations. Practitioner Zhao Guifeng was interrogated by the public security bureau three times. Each time, she was severely tortured, and then sent away. Wang Yuling has been through outdoor interrogation four or five times since she was arrested in August 2002 by the municipal No.1 public security bureau.
